  1. I have to agree with this

Madonna/Like A Virgin Era Introduced Her.

True Blue/WTG Era showed she was more than a one trick pony

Like A Prayer showed she could have artistic depth in her work

Vogue/Dick Tracy/Blond Ambition/Immaculate Collection/JML/Truth Or Dare blended everything and sealed her legendary icon status.

Everything afterwards has been icing on the cake.

  2. I love Erotica, love the Shep songs more though, I don't often get to hear Secret Garden often because of that "Did You Do It" remix (I tend to change the album there). I absolutely adore Erotica, Words, Thief of Hearts, Bye Bye Baby, Deeper & Deeper, Bad Girl, Rain and In This Life.

I don't think the album is unpolished though, all the levels are just right and there are great details in the music layers.

I'd agree it's cold though, a big shift from the more 'friendly' pop of the Like A Prayer album, it's a lot more edgy and I love it!

  3. Okay, so after a few months of avoiding STR vinyl reissue due to bad reviews, I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway since it was only £12.07 on Amazon, bargain really.

Anyway, after unpacking it I was delighted to see the 12 "artwork and I do like the flower on the back of the jacket, it's very sharp.

I was prepared to be disappointed when I put the vinyl on the turntable and sent it spinning, preparing myself to turn the volume all the way up a long with the bass. I Want You begins, and although there is a bit a surface noise (none of my 180g records make this noise), once the songs begin the surface noise is buried, and what pours out of the the speakers is beautifully textured music at a perfect volume (LAP vinyl reissue is much quieter than this). I'd honestly never heard I Want You sound so good, there were so many instrumentation layers that I've never heard before, it was a whole new experience. I'll Remember sounds beautiful, Take A Bow is great, I could hear the bass perfectly fine, Crazy for You sounds so fresh on vinyl, the booming reverberated snare sounds so powerful.

I'm also glad that it's on 1 vinyl because flipping the discs can be a frustrating, I understand why it should technically be on 2 discs but it sounds great to me.

Anyway, that's my review and experience with the album, I'll probably post it on amazon too because I really think those bad reviews are misleading, the vinyl pressing is far better than 2 stars.

  4. I didn't care for Hard Candy when it first came out apart from the singles, but a year later I found myself warming to it. It's actually a great album, with many top notch tunes such as Heartbeat, She's Not Me, Dance 2nite (reminds me of her first album) and GI2M. I listened to it the other week and it still sounds fresh, much better than MDNA.

  5. damn people are so negative..

and can people stop pretending that the US is the world? look at hung up!

I only found out last year about how lackluster Confessions was in the US, I was really confused because it was huge in the UK and Sorry was huge everywhere I went in Europe in 2006, I couldn't imagine it being a flop because there was so much love for it in Europe especially after AL.
