  1. I was born in 86, I recall Madonna being played a lot when I was 4-5 as my older brother (6 years older) fell in love with her and constantly had TIC playing everywhere we went. He recorded the Blonde Ambition tour on BBC so I remember watching the show at a very young age (LAV was cut from the show), I loved it. It was 1999 that I went out to find Dear Jessie as I remember having "pink elephants and lemonade" stuck in my head as a kid and wanted to hear it, I bought LAP album and the rest was history, next thing I was buying Beautiful Stranger single, watching tonnes of Madonna days on MTV and VH1, bought all her albums... like I said, the rest is history.

Regarding her changing and trying to stay current, I've loved all her era's, I love her attitude, I loved the MDNA era as it was my first time seeing her (Hyde Park), amazing show!).

P.S. I've seen a view younger fans say this, but I also would have loved to have experienced Madonna in the 80s, it would have been amazing to have had MTV, with Open Your Heart, Live to Tell, Lucky Star etc on heavy rotation.

  2. Wait a minute, people are debating whether MDNA was rushed or not?! I thought that was a fact. There's so much evidence, and not just what William Orbit said. I like the album, but it's pretty obvious that it was just made for a tour. She's never rushed into a tour like that. She was rehearsing for it before the album was released!

I think she had to rush MDNA though because she signed with LiveNation and hadn't done anything because of WE. She's spent a lot more time making this album, and I think she's done a great job teasing up via social media.

  3. So much hate for "Dear Jessie" on this site!

It reminds me of Prince's "Starfish and Coffee," and thought she picked up on his influence because they were dating at the time. I disliked the song they did together, "Love Song," on first listen, sounds like a boring demo.

I think Like a Virgin, True Blue and Music have two or three good songs, but a lot of filler, throwaway tracks.

Confessions really holds up well, and I listen to songs from it at the gym all the time.

Dear Jessie used to be my absolute favourite song ever when I was a kid, that's what got be obsessed with M in the first place, I insisted on buying LAP album back in 1999 for that one track, the rest is history.

Regarding TB album tracks... am I the only one who loves them? White Heat and Where's The Party are fantastic tracks the latter should have been a single. Jimmy Jimmy and Love Makes the World Go Round are fun tracks...

  4. Great song, and a great opener to Something to Remember, I love the video, it's so haunting and 90s, I love the little details in the music, very well produced...

Now... can somebody please start a thread for Can't Stop??? As I still can't create a thread yet, and I'm beginning to see the wonders of this forgotten gem, I want to see what others think of it.

  5. I've been listening to bedtimes stories a lot recently and I was thinking about the possibility of Don't Stop being a single, I wondered what the video would have been like... surely a lot different to Bedtime Stories! I get a sort of Deeper & Deeper vibe.

  6. Me and my brother loved AL when we listened to it for the first time on the day of release, he's always listened to the album a lot where as me not so much, but recently I've been turning to this album quite a bit, I had it on in the car the other day and I think it's great, it flows so well and I love that it includes Die Another Die. Nobody Knows Me, Mother & Father, Intervention, I'm So Stupid... all great songs.

I think the album has aged very well. And like somebody else said, I also always considered AL to be a continuation of Music in terms of sound.

  7. Hung Up definitely in the UK, the song completely resurged Madonna and got everyone talking about her again, I remember all the fuss, a very exciting time to be a Madonna fan. I still hear the song all the time on the radio, I haven't heard Music played in a long time... besides, Madonna had previously had a number 1 hit single with American Pie a few months before Music was released, Madonna was still at the top of her game in 2000 so whatever she released as the debut single from Music would have been a hit, whereas, she actually revived herself after the American Life era.
