Totally agree. And I'll say it again - it has been sour grapes all along from the EU who are resentful of the UK's progress in getting 30 million people out of a 67 million population vaccinated. Not too shabbyΒ for a small island. I know people who are getting their appointment dates for the second vaccine booked instantly as soon as the first vaccine is administered (even before) which indicates there is confidence about supply for the second booster vaccine.

The EU might resent that they exported 21 million biontech vaccines to the UK when the UK exported nothing. Zero.

But congratulations to your amazing vaccine success! At lastΒ you have a reason to say that Brexit was the right decision.

And I will say it again, believe it or not, at least in Germany, NO ONE wanted AZ to fail, in fact, 200 politicians publicly said that they would get the vaccine.

The level of disinformation everywhere is appalling. UK media is attacking the EU to hide the Brexit disaster. And in the EU the campaign against AstraZeneca is appalling too. How many dangerous or even mortal side effects are in other medicines? Even the European Medicines Agency has said again and again that the risks are minimum compared to the lives that the vaccine saves!!!!

It was not disinformation when AZ did not provide data for older people in their phase 3 studies.Β

It is not disinformation to report serious adverse events of a new drug that werenΒ΄t apparent at first because the study sample was too small to detect them.

Of course the benefit for ALL people will be bigger than the risks but if you are young and healthy it might be wise to use a different vaccine. You have to differentiate between younger and older people.

I totally agree that we see propaganda on all sides - but these are scientific facts.Β
And don Β΄ t forget that non-EU countries like Canada have limitedΒ the use of the vaccineΒ and Switzerland for example did not approve it (like the US).

I dont think that you can say that the EU is deliberately destroying the image of the vaccine.

Interesting but it's still in a really tiny percentage of people and the results are no different to the Pfizer vaccine. Covid is more likely to cause clotting overall too. I heard one nurse say she's shocked at what it does to the blood of some people.

All this scaremongering will kill way more people who decline the vaccine than who actually get a clot caused by it.Β

The EUs handling of this is appalling especially as Pfizer is showing similar results.

True, it is only a tiny percentage but youngΒ healthy people only have a tiny percentage to get seriously ill too.

The results are different to the Pfizer vaccine in terms of the clots which affect the cerebral veins.

Reporting side effects is no scaremongering.Β
    Β

And no need for EU bashing, all the countries decided for themselves to stop the vaccine.

In the end we will see who has handled the pandemic best. Right now, the lately much praised UK is the third worst affected country in the world (worse than the US and Brazil):

You're more likely to get a clot if your get covid and the data says the clots are no more frequent after the vaccine. People will still get ill from other causes after having the vaccine that are unrelated.

This is not true. Some young people did get clots and cerebral bleedingΒ after the AstraZeneca vaccine in Europe, and although there are not many cases, young healthy people might reconsider getting this vaccine as they have only a minimal risk of getting severely ill.

Importantly, the β€žAstraZeneca clotsβ€œ are much different from normal clots, as they come with low platelet counts.

Here is a very interesting interview with a german specialist for blood diseases if you understand german (or use google translate):

Had my first Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine last weekend with zero side-effects or symptoms despite the scaremongering I've read. Medical experts at Kings College London report that only those who have already contracted Coronavirus whether asymptomatic or symptomatic will experience side-effects upon taking the Oxford vaccine.

How would they know? Do they test everyone who gets the vaccine πŸ˜‚?

At 7:00 there is discussion with scientists who recommend AstraZeneca vaccine as it is more traditional.

It is not tested for people over 55 years (in the smaller dose that was more effective), so some scientist might recommed it, but you do not know whether it works for older people.

The studies for the mRNA vaccines (Biontech and Moderna) have their limitations too:

Was a joke. No oneΒ could know her medical situation. I find it rude to even speculate on frankly.

Ok didnβ€˜t get that you were joking.

Agree noone should speculate on that. And she doesnβ€˜t look depressed at all. And stage fright is normal isnβ€˜t it.
