  1. It’s official: Madonna’s daughter is a University of Michigan freshman.

With her superstar mom cryptically posting online from Ann Arbor today, the profile of Lourdes Ciccone Leon now appears in the university’s formal student directory, listing her as an undergraduate affiliated with the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance.

Freshman orientation for U-M’s summer term began Monday and will run through Wednesday. Orientation for parents and familyicon1.pngwas scheduled for Monday and today.

Madonna posted an Instagram snapshot this afternoon of the fan-merchandise store the M Den — on State Street in Ann Arbor — with the caption, “I think ill stop in here!”

A store employee this evening said he could not confirm whether the 55-year-old pop star had visited theshopicon1.png. The Free Press has reached out to Madonna’s camp for details.

Typical freshmen start their college careers with the standard fall term, but special cases — including many student-athletes — begin during summer to settle in ahead of the fall commotion.

Madonna briefly attended U-M in the mid-1970s before heading to New York to pursue a dance career. She and Lourdes were spotted on the U-M campus in November as the teen was winding into her final year of high school.

Lourdes, 17, posted a column last week to the website for the fashion line Material Girl about the end of her time at New York’s LaGuardia High School, writing “how very happy and slightly saddened I am that my high school years are now coming to an end.”

Madonna’s latest Michigan visiticon1.png comes three weeks after herwhirlwind visit of Detroit, where she dropped in on several community organizations. In a statement for the Free Press, the Rochester Hills-raised Madonna said she was eager to participate in the rebuilding of the city and looked forward to “helping make the future of Detroit brighter.”

  2. With amazing visuals

    I.e music videos

I think I would DIE if she ever did a complete visual album with videos for every track like Beyonce. Madonna, after all, is the pioneer and undisputed queen of music videos. Also, it's a really good way to influence the critical reception of an album because, rather than just analyzing songs on the basis of the music alone, you can't listen to the music without having the images and themes of the associated videos playing in your mind.

  3. We love this!

A very talented group of Estonian teens took it upon themselves to recreate Madonna's iconic 1990 performance of "Vogue" at the MTV Music Video Awards. According to Instinct, the group are all involved in theater and utilized their costume department and a Victorian mansion to pull off the highly-choreographed and well-executed number.

And here you thought covering a song nearly 25 years old couldn't be anything other than passe.

Check out this gifted group of kids above!

  4. From the July 3-17 issue of Rolling Stone:

The intimate dance club Output, on an industrial corner in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is known for elite DJ sets; the Godzilla-footsteps bass of its world class Funktion One sound system; and, perhaps above all, a strict ban on photography. But try telling that to the blond lady of indeterminate age lurking by the stairs of the elevated DJ booth, her features hidden by a witchy black hat, pulled low. Around 2 a.m. on a Friday in early June, she's snapping picture after picture of baby-faced, T-shirted Guy and Howard Lawrence, the brothers behind Disclosure, as they twist knobs and cue up tracks on glowing Technics decks. She's getting right in their faces with her iPhone, using the flash, even, and no one's saying a word. Probably because she's Madonna.

She puts the phone down, and while young Brooklynites writhe at her feet in strobe-splashed stop-motion, Madonna is still. A tiny, crimson grin emerges from the hat's shadow: She's seeing pop future, which sounds not entirely unlike "Vogue" - just as she once did, Disclosure draw on the gospel-soul vocals and enveloping synths of deep house

  5. Are you sure they couldn't be doing something totally innocuous? Prom has all of those customs like corsages and giving gifts to dates - it could be related to that. I have a hard time believing that the infamously strict Madonna would roll a joint with her daughter and, even she did, that she would do it at her 17 year-old daughter's pre-Prom picture party.

  6. I think part of the problem is that she had probably gotten fillers way too soon before this - she's having trouble opening her eyes and moving her face. It takes a few days for them to settle down and look natural and normal. That's why she can look a little a little off at one appearance and fantastic at one a week later - the fillers are just at the right stage.

  7. I've had so many lives

Since I was young and wild

    And I realize

    How many times I've tried

    Sometimes I feel shy

    After Brahim, Timor, and Guy

    I think I can fly

    Closer to the sky

I, sleep much better at night

I feel closer to the light

    Now I'm going to try

    To improve my love life

No one's telling you how to spice up your sex life

Just wait till he can't get it up

It's no good when you're misunderstood

But why should I care what the world thinks of me

I just need some hot young D

    Won't let a stranger

    Give me a venereal disease

    Nobody, nobody knows me

    Nobody knows me

    Nobody knows me

    Like you know me

  8. Perhaps, M will eventually settle down again, but it will be interesting to see if it will be with a guy thirty years years younger. I've always imagined her with someone just a little older, but whatever makes the queen happy.

Agreed on the little bit older thing - I've always thought she would be best with a guy in his early to mid thirties: old enough to be mature and have some experience in the world, but young enough to be hot and good in bed.

  9. Katy perry just tweeted "huge announcement tomorrow" https://twitter.com/katyperry/status/478737971684732929

The announcement came out - Katy's starting her own record label, Metamorphosis Music. Anyone else getting wannabe Maverick vibes? :queenbitch:

  10. Interscope are still her bosses and I'm sure they'd want to hear parts of the album along the way since she does represent them and they would need to hear it to develop a marketing strategy months in advance.

Um no, Interscope is not her boss - they just handle the release of her albums since LN isn't a record label. Madonna doesn't have a "boss" per se since she is such a huge artist and has always guided her own career, but the people who would be closest to that role would be her manager, Guy Oseary, and senior management at Live Nation Entertainment where she has a 360 deal until 2017.
