  1. Think she followed her by mistake, don't know who she is. Don't think Ali is following Madonna. I am really not sure, someone investigate!!! Lol

Maybe she liked her posts? :D Maybe because in some pics she has a very faint resemblance to Katy Perry? :chuckle: They both follow NatGeo, so they must be like really really close friends. :)

  2. Of course MJ's not a humanitarian. Spending hundreds of millions of dollars on charity, having your own worldwide charity organisation (Heal The World Foundation)

ThiefOfHearts, while it's great you make the effort to defend MJ's achievements and point people out for the inaccurate things they say, I don't think it will really change anything. Unfortunately, many M fans seem to be highly ignorant about Michael and unwilling to change their opinion no matter what facts you show them - which is quite shocking considering how M herself has to fight against so much ignorance and prejudice by now.

"Hundreds of millions of dollars on charity". Do you have any receipts or credible sources to back up these "Facts"? I guess his foundation has public records of the funds that were disbursed? I thought audit reports found that the hundreds of millions of dollars of debt he had accumulated by the end of his life were spent to finance his own lavish lifestyle and on fantasy projects by shady businessmen that never materialized - not on charity.

He undeniably did a lot of good in the world, both through entertainment and charity. What I dislike about him is the *humorless* hyperbole and exaggeration. I feel the same when people claim that M, the Freedom Fighter is saving entire countries etc etc.

  3. MJ: some great catchy pop songs.

As for the rest, everything has been said above already: repetitive (music, dance moves, videos), nostalgia act, lack of artistic development, Gaga-esque victim playing and humourless self-praise, generating Elephant Man rumors, hyperbaric chamber etc and then complaining about these self-planted stories, posing as a Nobel peace prize worthy humanitarian while giving a relative pittance to charity compared to the hundreds of millions in cash and loans spent to finance his own lavish lifestyle and fantasy projects by shady businessmen. Yes, he personally entertained sick children at Neverland, which was very nice of him and he did donate money just like a lot of wealthy people do. But a Great Humanitarian of historic proportions? Utter nonsense. Insisting that MTV start calling him The King of Pop and that MTV name their Video Vanguard Award after him because some award for M made him look bad, not only accepting but actually campaigning for and valuing the receipt of an endless row of meaningless Artist of the Millennium awards.

Record sales: good luck trying to find honest figures for total albums SOLD, not shipped. His tally is probably closer to M's total than his (corporate) beneficiaries would like to admit.

There seemed to be more than enough legitimate reasons for his weaknesses, apparently stemming from a deeply scarred personality, damaged by - among others - childhood stardom, abusive father (physically, mentally), diseases like vitiligo, lupus, plastic surgery gone wrong, being surrounded by sycophants, easy prey for shady schemers...

He made a big impact on society. Probably the first black man to attain such wide popularity and receive such full-scale corporate backing with the release of the Quincy Jones produced Thriller album. That impact and popularity is undeniable and irreversible, epitomizing pop culture in the early 1980's. He was among the first to be granted the use of large budget music videos, mostly focused on special effects and celebrity cameos.

But the corporately manufactured and funded Personality Cult claiming that this talented singer and dancer was somehow the greatest entertainer who ever lived, is boring hyperbole drilled into the gullible masses by sheer ad-fuelled empty repetition.

  4. It's very JP Gaultier.

It's a Tolstoy book on the table, it's called Sevastopol Sketches. Sevastopol is the capital of Crimea. This book is about his experiences during the siege of Sevastopol in 1854.

I think this is the return of Politicaldonna. I love that she's following what's happening in the world, especially in Crimea right now.

    :inlove: Iconic :kiss2:

    LOVE the picture.

  5. If she was in the studio this week as an article states and she said she would rather be working on her new music instead of going to the Gala, I have a gut feeling she will be instagraming more info about the album this weekend and hopefully there is some sort of specifics involved. :)

Thought it was interesting to see several pics on his Instagram account, showing that DIPLO *was* at the Met Gala on Monday :D

  6. What's this for tho? Photoshoot? Or she's gonna wear something over it for MET?? Or she's just into bondage? Lol whats the reason for this clothing??

That's what I'm wondering. Based on M's past Instagram posts I have developed a bit of a bias in favour of expecting every post to be connected to some project, or have additional meaning. But maybe there just is no "ulterior motive" for this picture.

What kind of straps are those? It looks like duct tape, but that would not be good for your skin, so I it must be something other than duct tape :chuckle: Of course she did put bandaids on her face last year, but bandaids are made for contact with skin (as opposed to duct tape) and it was part of promoting a project: secretproject.

Leftfield: is it part of her fitness routine? Additional challenges for her muscles during training? :lmao::rotfl:

  7. I understand his point, but there is also something to be said for Madonna not taking the "expected" route for an older woman. After all, I would never have believed a 50 year old Madonna would be swinging her arms in a sheer top for "Vogue" (see: Sticky & Sweet Tour) but she looked fabulous and pulled it off. I just don't think the rules apply to her as much as people would expect them too.

I do love Vince's work though. Some of her best dance performances were because of him.

Agree + those "rules" need to be broken to show they are sexist, agist crap. Luckily M takes the opportunity to do so.

  8. no, the brooch in the article has a completely blue face, the one M posted has a red pupil in the eye. It must be one of the copies made by the jewellers, which means it would be worth less. It's still a beautiful piece though, probably unique.

The brooch that already sold looks like it's from the same series, but I don't think it is the exact unique item in M's Instagram pic. The picture M posted is from a Sotheby's catalogue depicting a piece that will be up for sale on Thursday May 8th at Sotheby's New York auction house, estimated at USD $250,000-350,000:

  9. ISAAC HARRIS I LOVE YOU!

YOU ARE THE BRILLIANT GLISTENING SPIRE ON THE CATHEDRAL THAT IS MNATION

    :inlove: :tigger: :inlove:

It's a rather deep album filled with sweet, sassy, funky beats. She has her fun with it too, while letting out the pains of her failing relationship.

That element (failing relationship) is never far from my mind when thinking of HC. Listening to the album as I write: it really is a very good album, but for some reason I don't listen to it that often. Is that because songs like She's Not Me and Devil hit too close to home? On another - perhaps more superficial - note, regarding the album artwork: although I like the idea of the album artwork, :boxing: I feel somewhat ashamed to say that I don't really love it. Perhaps on some unconscious level this visual aspect also plays a role for me. If that were the case, I'd find it a bit shallow of myself... :old:

Having said that, HC contains heaps of great, funky music that merited some corresponding fabulous videography. Although making videos may be a loss-making exercise, I do hope M will invest herself in making some more GREAT - iconic :chuckle: - videos.

  10. You just made 3 posts bitching about me making posts in a wrong thread. Shut up!

My dear friend, please don't let your emotions get the better of you. I merely offered a *suggestion* to two of your posts. The "WTF" that you quoted was in response to someone else who entertained the thought that M might be recording her new album for the sole purpose of making "more and more money". I thought that merited a three letter expression of incomprehension.

Please allow me to add that I do not care for your rude commandments.
