God, I hope she releases a well written song for the first single this time. She has gotten used to slapping together a simple little song a having a worldwide smash. It worked with Music and Hung Up, but the law of diminishing marginal returns is really setting in with 4 minutes and GMAYL.
-
That's the problem, her single choices are subpar but she still has some great songs on the albums.

I'm an "older" fan (38) and I agree with some posters to an extent. I don't mind more dance music. I listen to current music all the time, but I think Ke$ha and Rhianna are doing it so much better than her, just to name a couple of examples. And that's sad.
I think she should possibly maybe use different songwriters, I don't just want to hear the same tired subjects with a different DJ. I no longer care if she writes or produces things herself anymore at this point. As long as she is doing the singing, it shouldn't matter.
-
I just hope if Nile did sent her a track to listen to or something, she at least gave it a listen. He's a hot producer again at the moment, too, and he obviously has stood the test of time.
At this point, I think I just want a fun, catchy pop song. Something "Happy"-ish. Maybe that's why I'm not a big fan of Avicii's solo stuff, it's kind of melancholy.
Although I guess she tried that with a lot of the MDNA album, and I liked the darker stuff better, so I don't know.

It would be the thing to do to maybe help people forget about all the other false promises
-
She already mixed country/electronic sounds with Music. She might as well work with Mirwais again.
I was serious about Will.I.Am, I really liked the Black Eyed Peas. And the song he did with Britney "Scream and Shout"
-
I wish Beat Goes On would have been the first single, we could have been spared the embarrassment of "4 minutes". I don't care how many singles it sold.
-
If she is looking to work with popular DJs, why not Calvin Harris? I'd even rather she go with Will.I.Am.
Daft Punk must have said no?

"some girls".
I actually always skipped over because I didn't like the first couple of seconds, and thought it would be a retread of Shes Not Me or something.
But now I've listened to it all day, it might be the song form MDNA I connect with the most. Reminds me a little of Impressive Instant/Burning Up.
-
I love it in "Some Girls" when she sings "crying in a limousine" -- just seems so silly. Like "Impressive Instant". Actually, the song reminds a lot of it, in a good way.
-
OK, thanks!
I'm surprised she worked with Reggie again, sounded like they butted heads a lot in the studio.
-
Love it, does anyone remember why it was not included on the first album?
-
I've heard the official term "aquamarine" to describe them, but I can't remember where
-
Yes, and she wrote Love Spent with a female writer

The difference between Madonna and the Jacksons is that she has had many hits-- Vogue, Hung Up, Don't Tell Me, Music, ROL, etc. without Patrick Leonard. Micheal and Janet could not do this without Quincy and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
I'd much rather see her work with Joe Henry again, or other songwriters. While I love their work together, I don't think they could top what they've already done, and I'd like to see her go in a new direction.
Even on the ROL album, I strongly prefer the tracks Pat was NOT involved with. The only one I like is Frozen, and that seems to basically be a rewrite of Open Your Heart.
-
Yep, I remember reading Madonna changed one line. The Ingrid woman ended up accepting only 1/4 of the royalties. She admitted being satisfied with the arrangement since she still made quite a bit of money from the deal.
-
I voted for ROL.
For me, it was the hardest time to be a fan from the mid to late 90s. She didn't seem to fit in anywhere with grunge and hip hop being so popular everywhere. I truly thought she was over singing show tunes with the Evita soundtrack.
I think if it hadn't been for the critical and commercial successed of ROL (and then Music afterwards), she would've faded away like Janet Jackson did.

I would love a song or two. I liked Hard Candy only because of Pharell, and I love Get Lucky, I think it would be a nice fit.
And I really like Happy also, so catchy.
-
I think Hard candy sounds current. If you look at Pharell's recent work, it may have even been ahead of its time. . .
-
The first song that made me a fan.
-
I could tell Bruno's drumming was "fake", before I even read this article. I wonder how often this happens at other music events, probably a lot.
-
I hope the Sia rejected song wasn't Titanium!
-
I've always loved American Pie, and most of her fans seem to hate it, even. Her vocals are really good, and the lyrics about music, religion, dancing seem to be a perfect fit for her.
-
I've never really liked Holiday. Any version. Although I did like the Blond Ambition performance, though.
Did Madonna hit on the Pharrell sound before it became big ?

I actually like GITM better than Blurred Lines.
I distinctly remember when I first listening to Hard Candy that it sounded like nothing else out at the time.
