  1. I have noticed a trend this era where haters are creating a (fictional imo) history and persona of the "long-time fan" who loved her for years and years but just had to turn in their fan card during (insert either Hard Candy, MDNA, or instagram behavior). Some go so far as to say how she shaped their lives earlier but now they are "so embarrassed" by her. I for one don't believe a single one of them was ever a fan at all. I think they feel that saying they "used to be" lends some sort of weird credence to their hatred.

If you ever truly LOVED her, you would certainly never HATE her now. Maybe lose interest or move on, but then you wouldn't be creating some fucking post about your hatred lmfao.

Yes! Totally. So much of the horrid comments I've read on sites about this flap began with "I've always loved her, but..."

    Bullshit.

It'd be far, far different if there was anything REMOTELY racist or controversial about her instagram posts. Anyone claiming to be a fan for so long could see this bullshit from space and call it for what it is.

  2. In light of the recent Instagram scandal that has obviously destroyed Madonna's career forever for good, I was just wondering what other scandals you fondly recall that have also destroyed her career over the last 30 + years.

One of my favorites was the Pope/Catholic Church losing their shit over Papa Don't Preach. It even gave us an unforgettable answer song that almost buried M. in 1986. Referenced below about 1 minute-plus in. (sorry couldn't find the whole thing)

How she was able to put the pieces back together afterwards is beyond me.

    Your faves?

(sorry if this is a thread somewhere already, mods. I didn't see one.)

  3. Thank you! Poster has no idea what they are talking about saying "Gone Girl" isn't a well made film haha.

It is a layered beauty. I haven't read the book but it's rare when an adaptation reaches greater heights and I've been told it does.

We already know what he and M can do together. It's time for another collaboration! It'll probably never happen again though with how busy he is and hard to get.

Not to drag this thread further into movie talk, but I hated that movie. However it, like all Fincher films, was extremely well done.

I just didn't buy the story at all, but Fincher's duds (again, IMO) are better than movies than the greatest achievements of other directors. Always worth-seeing.

    Pedro Almodóvar

    That would be incredible.

  4. GGW ?.. i think it has nothing un-ethical themes by the society :)

    ...

but in devilpray, she sings about weed/getting high/drugs...

of course, she's not inviting people to do these things... but there are the people who are ready to critize madonna in every steps :)

    Imagine the outcry.

"Madonna promotes getting high and getting stoned!"

    People couldn't even grasp MDNA.

  5. Her album wasn't innovative, and if Madonna released an album like that she wouldn't get the same praise Beyonce got.

Absolutely. She would be attacked for trying to sound young and hip and above all, would have been criticized for hook-free music.

She can't win with these assholes.

  6. "While Madonna portrays herself as a leader to her followers, Taylor Swift, continues her open armed policy, aligning herself with her fans, suggesting she's one of them. Swift has remained a class act throughout the promotion of her hit album 1989 - further prove that grace and humility never go out of style."

I'm gonna puke! They said same things about Lady Gaga three years ago! This shit needs to stop.

Comparing Taylor Swift to Madonna is like comparing a slice of Wonder Bread to a baguette purchased from a Paris bakery.

  7. Have said it before and will say it again. Ex fans are more tiresome, judgemental, whining, self-righteous and annoying than her haters. They love to put her down but always have to start off by saying how much they used to admire her etc. Then go in for the kill. Plus they pollute music forums everywhere. Other Madonna forums are unbearable because of them and their constant negativity. Wish they would just move on if they don't like her anymore, rather than try and put her down to make themselves feel important.

    Totally.

And it's so funny when these 'fans' praise people like Gaga or latch themselves onto younger artists and act like Madonna is the one who is pathetic.

  8. I couldn't agree more. People misunderstand things she does as trying to be young and hip. when as you say she is just being herself. She is interested in contemporary music and culture. What is wrong with that? I'm older than a lot of people here but I'm interested in modern music, culture and fashion. It keeps me interested in life and vibrant. It's something to be applauded not ridiculed.

People have very antiquated ideas about aging. I applaud you for doing your thing. I'm also older than many here, but I still, like you, am interested in today, not yesterday.

There's also underlying sexism on display with comments like these. Dylan, Bowie and Sting for example don't get this kind of hate for exploring contemporary or new sounds. Only Madonna. She's supposed to dress like a cliched idea of a 50-something housewife and I guess should be re-recording mellow muzak versions of her old material. She's not to venture forward. It's reserved for a certain age group in their minds. Once you age out of that box, you're to be compliant and reserved.

Their negativity towards her says a lot more about their own aging process and themselves than they do her.

It makes me sad that in 2015, this nonsense persists. I mean, if this mindset was around 30 years ago, Tina Turner would have never been able to come back.

  9. fun is that she gets more followers on instagram - hour by hour...so it seems that all their hate works well for her!...so M can turn hate into love! she s a saint! :inlove:

So true. Her haters just fuel her and they are ridiculous.

Case in point, here's a comment someone left for me in an abc news story about this flap. Seriously, her haters are delusional.

"Modonna hasn't changed her act in 40 years. She has the same hair style in the picture that she had several decades ago. Being creative means that you do new things."

Seriously, her haters are delusional. I mean, that's some real stupid right there, and that person's Disqus screen name is Critical Thinker, or some shit.
