I just think the song summarizes so much of what I love about her, and whether it peaks at 100 or 10, it's officially my favorite lead single since Music.
Me, too. It's a little of many things, if not everything, she's stood for for 32 years. Love it, but for me it's the best since Hung Up.
What a lovely minor quibble to have. I hope they push it everywhere as it deserves to be a hit considering all the soulless crap on the Hot 100, but I'll take a magnificent single at any position.

It's more a case of Madonna fans tending to be of the more intelligent and tolerant persuasion than other fan bases (i.e. Gaga, Mariah). It has always been this way and is probably a major factor in her longevity. Most of us have our priorities straight and the fans she does attract are a true testament to the lady herself.
Speaking for myself, I like Madonna simply because I do. I don't need to convince "non-believers" to enhance my enjoyment of her work, nor do I have time to go all up and through the interwebs in an effort to pimp off a 30+ year worldwide ICON just because it may elevate her online popularity. You admit yourself that this is a hollow statistic while imploring fans to do more.
The time I do have to talk about/obsess over M's work will be spent among other fans here who appreciate her, too, and are on board to share in the fun.
Thank you. I buy the album and the single beforehand. I don't work on her promo team. I'm a fan, not an employee.

I actually heard the single Music for the first time driving with a friend. They didn't announce it was Madonna and we were both talking and the windows were rolled down on a warm night and then we started getting into it — or rather it sucked us in.
"WTF is this song? Who is it?"
Neither of us could figure it out at first and then I finally recognized her voice.
"Shit, it's Madonna!"
Such a fun memory.

I dunno. I would hope critics would be able to judge the music on its merits, but it seems impossible for so many nowadays to separate her life from her work.
