We need to wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up...But will we? Doubtful. I'm ashamed to be an American on mornings like this.

Nothing cleans a toilet quite like scrubbing 'Bubbles.'
FLUSH!!!

Enough with the fighting. I can get that from strangers on the street.

Same here.....I double checked of course just to make sure....lol...but yeah, that channel was playing Johnny Cash when I checked this AM.
Boo. I was also hoping for a reprieve. I hope all the audio stories were archived! Somewhere.

Now if he can just back-peddle over that boring kunt from Pitchfork.

Anyone calling Killers "cultural appropriation" or such nonsense are straight-up fucking idiots and should be ignored for their boringness.

Yeah. The US was literally the only place in the world where Hung Up wasn't a huge hit. She was still getting the backlash from AL and there was definitely no disco music on US radio at the time.
Totally. Hung Up was played in every club I went to - gay & straight. Even the hippest of hipsters loved the video.
And 7? Boo!

I don't know, Ray of Light, Power Of Goodbye, Beautiful Stranger,American Pie, Music, Don't Tell Me, Die Another Day and 4 Minutes, were all pretty big hita at US radio that Madonna had at 40 plus
Me Against the Music and Hung Up were moderately successful at US radio
She just no longer had non stop US radio hits like she did in the 80s and 90s but that is EVERYBODY in their 40s, in fact Madonna has more radio hits at US radio in her 40s than any other female artist.
Tina Turer had about 6 radio hits in her 40s, Cher had about 4, Whitney, Janet, Celine and Mariah ,0
Yes, today EVERYBODY in their 40s gets shuffled off onto different formats which was my unclear point, while in the 80s people in their 40s were getting hits 20 years into some of their careers.
After AL, everything became a struggle, partly for the controversy itself and then due to the bucketing of music into narrower and narrower niches. M. certainly had her share of indelible hits, but it's impossible to break out big when radio ignores you as they began doing.
It just sucks that Madonna inarguably has made millions and millions for a genre that flat out refuses to give her spins nowadays.
Such is life. Stupid Life!

The choir brings me to tears every single time. Watery eyes welling up at work and train, total baby tears alone.

The Monkees and all those artists were in their 40s in the 80s though. Madonna had a BUNCH of hits and MTV support in her 40s
Yes, for sure. She had ROL and Music, then begins the narrowing of her airplay. The reception to her having an opinion on Bush obviously also hurt with American Life, but pop radio has been ignoring her since she dared to live past her 30s. The USA reception to COADF compared to the rest of the fucking world was embarrassing. Hung Up peaked at 7? Sorry was ignored. Sad. And then there's the sexism, too, of course.
And thanks to @Jazzy Jan and @peter, too. I appreciate your kind words and posts, too!

I certainly can't add anything new here about MTV and the state of music in general that already hasn't been better said, but it just makes me sad. In the '80s, we of course had Tina's magnificent comeback, but also artists like The Moody Blues, The Grateful Dead, Starship, Ozzy, the Stones, Bowie, Cher, etc. were played on pop radio right along with younger up-and-comers like Prince, Michael and... Madonna! Pop music was what was popular, regardless of who the artist was or their age.
The fucking Monkees had a hit!
Now marketers call the shots, dividing art and artists into silly categories. The grammies will award you a trophy for best tropical latin-jazz country line-dancing performance by a duo or group or DJ or marching band with vocals! Everyone has their narrow column to fill. Pop culture isn't organic anymore or rarely is. It's marketers selling product to a generation consumed with consuming. I mean, getting paid as an influencer selling shit products to poorer young people? MTV is now the biggest pusher of this nonsense where they used to at least give some equal coverage to counter-culture.
Meh, I am babbling, but again—sad.
Now off to enjoy the last few days of Madame X radio. Yay, Hung Up. Fitting!

I’m trying to decide between Batuka and God Control. She fucking knocked it out of the park with this album and the visuals attached.
A-fucking-men!
Everything a fan could want and so much more.

Crave is gorgeous but I do believe Mirwais would’ve take it, and every other song he wasn’t a part of, to the next level for sure. Mike Dean, Diplo and Billboard produced some very solid stuff for madame x but they’re no Mirwais.
I agree generally—more Mirwais for me always—but Crave has grown on me so much since its release where I generally was "meh." It's in my head daily now.
The production is stunning.

Show me that robot! I would like to buy one!
Amen. Madame X is a robot—and I love it!
I can't imagine the album without those effects. They're thrilling. "Wake up, wake up..." on God Control gives me goosebumps.
-
Love it. It's beautiful.
Madame X is everything. One of her best albums and one of the best albums of this or any year.
-
God Control continues to hold the top spot on my personal Hot 100 for a third straight week, although Batuka is giving her some competition.

there is nothing better than Madonna talking about her own music
Amen. That's been the best part of Madame X radio on Sirius—her stories.

Just got home and "live-blogging" playlist until bedtime (and just songs. I can't do her stories about songs justice):
Vogue = Yay! Always Yaaaaay!
Crazy For You = Tearing up.
Like a Prayer = I always think I've heard this song enough until it plays. Guess that's a testament to M.'s unrelentingly awesome catalogue.
Spanish Lesson = And it's live, too! Crapping myself with joy. (Not really crapping. Joy is 100% tho)
Causing a Commotion = I haven't played this in 100 years. Neighbors will hate the volume I have this at. Fuck them—nicely
.
Rescue Me = My God, I am dying! This is one of her songs that told me something about myself I didn't know until I heard it. Or until she told me.
Angel = Perfection. Her voice is like honey.
Bitch I'm Loca = I'd fuck Maluma in so many ways, he'd need years of therapy to recover.
Into the Groove = If someone asked me to tell them who Madonna is and what she's about via her songs, this one would be top choice, or in the top. "Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free..."
Bedtime Stories = Perfect ending to this night. Amazing. Nellee Hooper (and Bjork, of course) + M. = a masterpiece that laid the ROL groundwork. Or werk.
Night, MNation.

It's awesome! I came home late after a work celebration at 10pm, remembered Madame X radio and ended up dancing and enjoying until 1am.

God Control
Killers Who Are Partying

Extreme Occident
This was the hardest decision-making I've done in some time. I'm almost ashamed Dark Ballet isn't here.

These "young gays" are going to be old anyway. Their rotting time is near. Time goes by faster now, and people age more quickly.
I frankly don't associate myself with the LGBT community, I don't even have a Twitter account, I listen to MY rich library of music, I read amazing books written by genuine scholars and pay almost zero attention to the CORRUPTED media (every media outlet has its agenda), I live in my own universe where Madonna is one of the foundations.
Amen. You've got one life and as long as you're not hurting anyone, design it to your liking and live the shit out of it.
And social media can be disconnected from as easily as it's connected to.

She's got the #1 album in the US for week ending Sat, June 29th, 2019.
Madonna's 9th US album #1. The official Billboard announcement should come Monday.
Yay!!!
As Madame X is a fantastic work of art, it's not important in the grand scheme, but to her unrelenting, tired critics—eat it, motherfuckers. Eat all of it!!
