When I first heard that mix, I got all excited about the "new" part!
that's how I was when I heard the House Instrumental of Erotica that had the "You Thrill Me" pieces in it.... I was so excited at these unknown lines popping out of the stereo

I remember people loving this at the time of release but it was like a sugar rush and quickly faded... I come and go with it. I will obsess over it for months and then not play it again for a year. The video is PERCECT though *eats banana* even though it generally makes NO sense.

Do you think her voice has simply changed with age, menopause etc or is this due to a different singing technique?
I think it's a mixture of both to be honest. Her voice had the drastic change after Evita already now with age piled on top of that it's really different.

I Will Always Have You - The unreleased original version of what became the released song "Inside Of Me" recorded with Shep Pettibone and then abandoned. US copyright registration# PAu-1-889-251. This ballad sounds more like the familiar style of "Crazy for You" or "You'll See" than what later became the soft, lullaby-like released version. The released song's theme is all about Madonna cherishing the memory of a loved one, but in this demo she also wants to be the object of the song to also be remembered. The words "inside of me" are hardly used but many of the same lyrics are switched around. The melody is significantly different than the released version. There is also a subtle wind instrument, perhaps a synth flute.
