Chelle hit the nail on the head there. The music industry is in the dumps. Record sales are at an all time low. Madonna has already sold hundreds of millions of records, and the way for her and her label to make money is to generate income through touring.
She and her team would much rather spend time and money getting a big tour together than go on a chat show and perform on telly in the hope that she may pull an Adele or something.
Yes, from a financial standpoint that is correct, but a pop star needs to have a presence in the public and not just among the fans. If a tree falls in the forrest...... If a pop star makes music that no one hears.....

Robyn opened Sticky and Sweet Europe dates (the majority) for Madonna in 2008. I saw her in Montenegro. I think I remember Robyn praised Madonna on more than one occasion.
Robyn said in interview that she disliked opening for madonna because she was cold and distant

The demos for BeatGoesOn were done on a guitar so it could still end up a dance fest!
Does a May release seem too optimistic!?
No. I'm not ready yet for May!

The definition of pop has been discussed here before many times. I think it has both meanings people here are referencing. One word can be used by different people to mean different things. Pop can be a genre, you can make pop music without it being super successful or popular and it can mean anything popular on the current charts. The same with indie, it can mean anything on an independent label or a certain kind of guitar based rock oriented music, that is not mainstream rock.
I agree.

Avicii was born the same year as LAP... He can't be that bad!
Martin Garrix was born the same year as Evita....and I thought he wasthe new Avicii.

It is my dads favourite song on MDNA he loved it live too.
I've met a few middle-aged people (and non-fans) who like it.

Posted this in the artwork thread because the Picasso painting is so prominently displayed, but I thought I'd post it in here, too, in case anyone's not seen the behind-the-scenes video:
Is that a picture of Madonna in the Picasso painting? Did he travel through time and space and paint her with the black hair and red outfit?

I think the choreo is reminiscent of Butoh - a style of dance originating from Japan.
-
Maybe they are beng all "punk" and going against the establishment, like Madonna.
-
Now that I can picture
She did sort of invite him to join her on MDNA when she did her twitter thing.

Does anybody else think Keith is starting to look like Nicole?
All male country stars look like Nicole.

She's wearing grillz

BOMBAY MIX SWEETIE?
Listen to Dr L when he says that isn't if funny sweetie "BOMB-BAY mix"
Oh, wow. This is the second AbFab reference in this thread.
-
Darling, I just want to be in Madonna's inner circle. I want to huddle around her cool flame with all those other over-excited girlfriends of hers, and hear her words of wisdom. Lo, she has spoken! "Cowboy hats is back. "
Great AbFab reference!

Pretty sure this is the same generic fucktard who had the mix saved on disk for someone else then scrapped it, only to pull it out of the dump to drop M's vocals over it for GGW. Yes, he actually admitted that. Lord help us all if this hack has ANYTHING to do w/ her new record.
In his defense, he did say that Madonna's people only gave him 3 days. Anyway, I heard a very similar mix in one of Yoko Ono's recent remixes.

..... After all didn't she injure her foot while rehearsing for something?
Didn't she injure the foot practicing choreo for the Hard Candy Gym opening.

Give it time - according to Richard Sherman, "thug" is the new N-word.
-
Um, it's perfect. But I hope it's a medley with Thrift Shop.
Do thrift shops sell candy?

I have a feeling that the next album will have more ballads than usual. It'll be a laid-back album.....not as clubby, less uptempo....similiar to Bedtime Stories.Just my prediction.
Most likely because they think, based on MDNA's reception, that people want a "more mature" ballad-like sound instead of youthful dance tracks and completely missing the point that people were upset with MDNA's electro-dance tracks because they weren't good enough and not because they simply were dance tracks. I'm Addicted excluded.

It would only be a good title if the album as a whole relates to it.
Not just that, but also the right place at the right time with the right person.
As someone mentioned above, the Madonna of 2008 does not have the cultural currency of the Madonna of 1991. I would kill to have a big Madonna controversy, but the risk of insulting a whole group of people, and humanity itself, may be too big of a mountain to ascend even with Madonna's ironic flick of a finger.
-
........Wouldn't you love hearing all her songs that you have loved over the years in one concert with everyone singing along. Come on, it would be so much fun.
Yeah, like a 2-hour long funeral march.
-
......The MTV awards performance brought the house down that night and I remember my excitement being very intense for that performance......
I agree. I recall Madonna stating in an interview that the energy/excitement from the audience during the MTV Europe Awards was on par to one of her fan-filled concerts. I still watch that on YouTube every now and then. Even when her voice croaks at the end sounds cool!

WTF?? I can't believe it!! nobody loves Girl Gone Wild??? Is fucking perfect!!! a perfect opening!!! I Love GGW
I love GGW. It just doesn't kick down the door in the way HU does. If GGW shatters glass and emerges from a levitating confessional, then HU is a dozen dicks all ejaculating in your face at the same time!

I eventually decided to vote for "Hung Up" because it doesn't fuck around and gets right down to BUSINESS!!!!!!

Hmmmm.... Maybe, the #rebelheart business is for the Avicii project thus continuing the country theme from his last album. I don't see Madonna revisiting the country theme a la Music 2.0 - that would be really weird. Not to mention, it would look as if Madonna is riding Avicii's recent popularity AND his country theme, too. She surely knows this - she likes to surprise us, after after all.
Nevertheless, it looks like we are being primed/ groomed for something along the lines of #rebelheart - and soon. I'm too excited, ATM.
