  1. My main issue with MDNA are the vocals, as well as maybe the overproduction (as often with M albums).

Several songs could have been transformed by better vocals (TUTR, I'm A Sinner, Some Girls, yes even parts of Falling Free).

The only 'half arsed' song to me was 'Superstar' (god knows what possessed her with those shit lyrics).

My favourite M albums always have kickass vocals (ROL, LAP, Music). Much of MDNA sounds like she either has been sucking cock too long or she is making limited effort so that she doesn't have to replicate anything too hard on tour.

  2. My question is can we do something about it?

I feel like we, Madonna fans, should write an open letter to this awful person, to let him know that we love her and we're taking a stand against him constantly talking shit about Madonna, we should also remind him about the reasons he's been fired from The Mirror, he's a shameless piece of shite.

And then we should get Perez to post it on his blog, what do you guys think? :-)

Don't be stupid. Ignore the repulsive asswipe. He gets a hard on when people react to him.

  3. How could anyone seriously say that Madonna did not "care" about MDNA ? She had the biggest tour of the year which featured so many songs from the album. Seriously people, I did not even get to see her live and I still can see how much she loved the music by seeing the videos and footage online. I admit to wanting more promotion for purely selfish reasons, love seeing her perform and do interviews on shows and always love magazine layouts. Plus, I love the MDNA album and still think people get too hung up on certain songs they don't like.

Coz Orbit said it. She was interested but she lost interest near the end of the project (the album).

  4. Best: GaGa, Gwen

    Worst:Janet, Kylie

Whether you likes now or not , GaGa paid high quality homage to Madge for almost 3 years. Sadly GaGa then descended into plagiarism, fake impersonation, and then self pity. Gwen played things very well and was never fake but sadly went back to her pointless band.

Janet Jackson's 'sexualawakening' phase was an embarrassing copy of Madonna and deservedly her career nosedived reaching a nadir with nipple gate. Kylie's first true attempt at being Madonna was 'word is out' ...a horrendous flop. She's a sweet girl but her attempts to emulate M's concert performances are laughable.

  5. Basically with Gaga we saw the beast rising out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads

And a blasphemous name upon her head

Its feet were like a bear's

And its mouth was like a gerbil's mouth

And to it the media gave its power

And the whole earth followed the beast with wonder

And they worshiped the beast saying

"Who is like the beast and who can fight against the beast?"

And It opened its mouth to utter blasphemous words against the Madonna.

Untill she finally descended from the heavens

& read the word from the prophecy:

    REDUCTIVE.

She did this for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted,

the murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars.

Their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone.

As it is written in the book of Crow, & sung in the hyms of Demonna: chapter 8 verse 26-89.

    AMEN.

Hilarious! Best post of the year. It summarises GaGa's downfall so well. You need to post this on The Other Shore...

  6. Erm, sorry but that's not true. MDNA flopped because of a shitty first single and, yes, the lack of proper promotion. But the main reason it flopped was because "Give me All Your Luvin'" is quite possibly her worst single ever.

She had a fantastic opportunity with the Superbowl and huge public anticipation for the first Madonna album in years, and it was all wasted because the song is awful and everyone hated it.

    Opinions are like assholes....

Plenty of people I know loved GMAYL. Great tune but the world was already under the rule of GaGa and Rihanna. Madonna is old and digital singles buyers are all teeny boppers. It comes to them all in the end. GGW did far worse.

  7. GU and XXL, both of you bring up interesting points, I may as well add mine to the mix.

The strain of Kabbalah that Madonna studies is deeply rooted in Judaism, it basically is new age Judaism, the Kabbalah Centre teaches that an adherence to the Torah (as well as Judeo-Kabbalistic texts such as the Zohar) is a must. Yes, they have a somewhat different interpretation in comparison to Orthodox Jews and so on, but for the most part I would classify what the Centre teaches as 'religious' rather than esoteric (The Centre has rules regarding food, days of rest and so on).

Now, Kabbalah does indeed predate Judaism, and, on it's own, it has very little to do with organized religion. Kabbalah is, to describe it in very basic and simple terms, a method of studying the nature of God using the mathematical method of gematria and other tools such as The Tree of Life; while these became more sophisticated with the advent of Judaism, they existed, in principle, for quite some time before the Abrahamic religions.

Jewish Kabbalah is what you get when these tools are applied to the study of the Old Testament/Tanakh, but they can and have been applied to other schools of thoughts. Christian Kabbalah (Cabbalah) thrived for quite some time, and by far the most interesting of them all is the Hermetic Kabbalah (Qabalah) which is a merging of Kabbalistic methods with occult and esoteric schools of magick.

I would say that Madonna is a devoted religious person as she seems to strictly adhere to the Kabbalah Centre's rules.

The GU vs XXL argument is amusingly circular because one is giving his personal view of what religion is (XXL) and the other is pointing out the variable meanings of the word religion even in the dictionary (GU). So it's less a debate, more both stating different things both of which are true. Yes XXL that is your opinion of the word and yes GU those are the dictionary definitions of the word.

Personally I don't think the word 'religious' is of any use these days because it means totally different things to different people. Even the word 'spiritual' is very open to interpretation. These days 'religious' often conjures up images of inflexible and humourless devotees who profess to being devoid of sin (which is a joke of course because we are all human and therefore flawed). From my experience, most people who believe in a God do no dress in a 'look at me, I'm religious' way. Maybe we should just call people Theists or Atheists. Both groups have their share of inflexible and illogical show offs.

  8. You are right it doesn't always make it great if one person does all, but even if more people are working together to create music doesn't mean the resul will be great. Making successful music doesn't mean making quality music.

KATE BUSH works alone and she always shows how great music genius she is.

Im a huge KB fan, but she can't come up with melodies like Madonna. Her strength is in her clever lyrics and theatrical style.

    But TUNES...that's Madonnas forte

  9. I didn't realize the article was written by that notorious and biast hater. Blah.

But I think the Leonard interview confirms that Madonna is more a lyrist and an overall "fine tuner" of the melody and sound of the music. She isn't sitting around at the piano composing her own melodies and it is unfair to the likes of Patrick Leonard to suggest otherwise. Madonna does not have solo writing credits for any of her music, her songwriting involvement has always been collaborative. She is still a songwriter, and highly talented in her involvement and contribution, but she is not churning out her material all on her own.

Don't be a dick, she creates the melodies a lot of the time and her cowriter translates it into written music. Don't you ever read interviews with her collaborators? Flop fan

  10. She is a great artist in general , but not a great Singer , yes she is great interpreter, but she is an average Singer ...but the fact is that haters bash her only because she is not Celine ...ignorants think that voice is the only talent..--

No she is a great SINGER, because her SINGING voice is the main reason I love her even if technically her voice isn't strong compared to some.

  11. Madonna is a Rock and roll hall of fame member in UK .and US , she is consider a great artist .yes haters always will think that she is not talented because , she is not a great Singer ,, but in general ,critics and people in the world consider Magde a talented woman ..above of a lot of female artists..

If you keep saying "she is not a great singer" then this doesn't help the cause.

I'm sorry but she IS a great singer. End of. No one has the emotional range that Madonna's voice has, even if technically her voice isn't the most powerful. And male singers with lesser voices don't get the shit she does. Sorry but Dylan, McCartney, and even Springsteen have technically worse voices than her but they are let off by the media.

  12. I'm over Love Spent regular version. It's the deluxe version that is incredible for me.

MDNA is just a bit too characterless for me. Some good songs but its lack of overall theme is what keeps it from being one of her better albums.

I like most tracks but I usually skip Superstar and Falling Free. The latter is good but I tired of it very quickly.

In the deluxe version I only find Best Friend a bit jarring lyrically and we can do without Party Rock version of GMAYL.

Love Bday Song and I Fucked Up.

  13. This was a transcendental time not only in her career but in pop music and was so influential.

I first heard Frozen in a record store just before the album came out and was wowed by the mystery of it.

Then when I heard the first few cords of the song Ray of Light on radio (preview of the album) I felt elated like I just knew this was going to be something truly special.

When I finally got to hear the album in full I think I lay there in a daze like I'd just had a spiritual moment.

    Wow, what an era!

On the downside, I was disgusted she didn't win Album of the Year at the Grammies. Much as I like Lauryn Hill, there really was no comparison.

  14. DING DING. We have a winner.

She should know by now that unless she hits a home run on the first time at bat, radio won't be on board. TUTR is yet another casualty of GMAYL.

Bullshit. GMAYL was a top ten hit just about everywhere except UK. In some countries even made#1.

TUTR was a flop. Radio thought it was dull. Keep on with the denial though.

  15. Are you even a Madonna fan? How is someone stating that they believe a song would've worked well as a lead single delusion? Just because you were proven wrong you had to resort to insulting people...

Ok so to say anything negative is to be a non-fan? Whatever.

The delusion was in thinking that a massive flop like TUTR would have been a big international hit if it was released as lead single. That is delusional. As is the theory that MDNA didn't flop. I love MDNA but it flopped.
