  1. Love this song. I remember first hearing it on the radio and thinking it was quite boring following Erotica. But it ended up being a favorite of mine. The vocal, the lyrics, the production is all beautiful. Pat + M = magic.

The video I can do without. She looks nowhere near as beautiful as she did in "Rain." The hair is creepy, the makeup is too heavy, she looks pale and sickly. And it's boring. Those "backup" singers also bother me.

No. The video is everythang bitch.

  2. 3:30

    "I live like a GYPSY"

Did Gaga study this interview too?

. Most of today's Pop tarts have studied Madonna's interviews like Christians study the Bible.

GaGa and Christina are the most obsessive. My jaw drops at how much they try to imitate her in their interviews and try to act like these are their own thoughts. It's embarrassing.

People go on about how artist copy Madonna's style in looks and music, but her whole persona is copied in almost stalker uh fashion. Has there ever been an artist who inspires such a degree of all-round imitation?

  3. I always love this woman's emotional intelligence, severely underrated. I think M is on the money esp. about how men feel emasculated by a strong woman. Except maybe not just a strong woman, but a woman who adopts traditional male roles yet still has the advantages of being female.

There are strong women who adopt very female motherly roles and they are no threat to men. But M adopts a very male role in so many ways e.g. Likes to be the decision maker, talks about her sexual fantasies, is physically intimidating, is extremely intelligent and well read (more so than most men) yet she still has a strong femininity. It's confusing for straight men as they feel they have nothing to bring to the table. So they try to diminish her as it's the only way to deal with it.

Gay men don't have to bring anything to the table with M because the sexual role threat thing is not there so there's no pressure. She can't emasculate them.

  4. Definitely NOT my pick for her best political song. Some of the lyrics are cringe-inducing. "Why's It So Hard" is tops for me. Not that there are many viable options.

Cringe inducing? How so? Incredible lyrics I think.

Whys it so Hard is disposably glib on the other hand...weird that you prefer that

  5. It's her MOST UNDERWHELMING lead single ever.

The public didn't warm to it either that's why it dropped of the charts so quickly around the world.

Before anyone says "but she scored top 10 in the US" I have one word - PAYOLA

Look I get your anger and frustration with MDNA sales and the era failure on the singles chart, but I think you're scapegoating GMAYL unfairly. You say the public didn't warm to it but helloooooo radio didn't play it (esp in UK) so nobody heard it. Why don't you blame GGW? That truly bombed and that sunk the album. Again no promotion and radio hates Madonna. Even Hung Up would flop in this day and age. People hate 55 year old women who sing pop songs about being a girl. They want older women to conform and sing ballads. It will take a mighty effort from Madonna to change the publics fixed views. Despite the lack of support, GMAYL sold the album. Not GGW and definitely not TUTR.

  6. I love GMAYL and the video is lovely. Don't get the hate at all. It was a hit and would have been a bigger hit if she promoted.

It was a lesson to her that she still has to promote.

I don't get the fags who whinge about it. I always loved Fun Madonna and her SOH.

  7. 1. Love Spent (epic!)

    2. Girl Gone Wild (dirty)

    3. I'm addicted (thrilling climax )

    4. Gang Bang (dark)

    5. masterpiece (earnest)

    6. GMAYL (cheeky fun)

    7. I don't Give A (rock bitch)

    8. Some Girls (blondie)

    9. Falling Free (interesting if overlong)

    10. I'm a Sinner (flower power but what's the point of it all?)

11.Turn Up The Radio (dirge, boring vocal boring lyrics, just lazy)

    12. Superstar (the second verse has the shittest lyrics ever. Shame as the melody deserved better)

    Delux edition

    1. Beautiful killer (should have been on main album. Ok not ground breaking i admit, but a superior version of RL)

    2. Birthday Song (I don't get the hate for this. Kind of back to her Breakfast Club/Emmy days. Love it)

    3. I fucked up (love this too. But I think using the f word lowers the tone of this one)

    4. Best friend . Some nice elements but some of the lyrics and vocals are annoying

    5. GMAYL remix(what's the point?)

Oh and Love Spent acoustic would be no.1 of the whole lot!

  8. I agree that AL was her last truly great and original album (even with its imperfections). I grew up with the concept of Madonna experimenting every album/era.

As good as COADF was, it was the first time Madonna had slightly regressed (even copying Kylie!)and been blatantly commercial rather than being slightly leftfield. Then Hard Candy again went too far into the mainstream and she started to look behind the times (though the music was still good). MDNA did have a small amount of experimentation e.g. gang Bang. But mostly it was M following Rihanna et al.

I want M to blow me away again with something totally unexpected. I'll never forgot how my jaw dropped when I first heard LAP and JML or Frozen or even DAD, just because they were so unusual and unique. She is still unique but her music isn't so much anymore. It's gotten more predictable.

  9. A) it doesn't look that bad to me. If you see slow-mo of even young athletes and their muscles contracting in their neck and face etc it looks similar to this. And Madonna is an athlete, no body fat

    B) why so sure it's not doctored? I wouldn't be so sure of myself to make such a claim. After all the Daily Mail is always doctoring her photos

    C) madonna is 55. Show me a 55 year old who looks much better in every shot? Not too many

  10. There has been a shocking drop off in quality on the last two albums and the new material on Celebration.

Her visuals and tours are still strong but she needs better producers and some work on her vocals.

She needs to get passionate about her music and focus 100% on the quality. No more vocoders and trite lyrics.

We know she can do it.

Yes please no vocoder EVER again.

Trite lyrics are fine as long as she doesn't keep using the same ones over and over, like "moth to a flame" . And sometimes one lazy lyric can ruin a song e.g. In the otherwise-stunning Masterpiece she uses "light" to rhyme with "light". This sort of thing needs her close attention, not just " oh it will do". Oh, and please know when to edit a track. Falling free would have been far more effective if it didn't keep repeating itself toward the end ( though I could say the same about Isaac from COADF).

The tunes are as great as always. The attitude, the concepts..tick. Just more concentration on the vocals/lyrics and avoid overproduction.
