  1. There so we can change your sentence to: Mariah has yet to crack the TOP 50 ... and that's already correct

But these are the hourly pre-orders or it's updated hourly for sales during the past week or something?

It's hourly. If Hard Candy had no pre-orders for that hour it would start to fall behind CDs that sold that hour. As it gets closer to release date it will climb higher.

  2. I know it's not just because it's aimed at the US

but the song has two radio sweethearts on board (J&T)

It is in a genre that is working well on US radio in general

and it has hit written all over it... I mean it's not a shitty song or some half-attempt...

If it would have been shitty it would not have gone directly to a-list in Europe... even if Europe loves Madonna...

She is coming off huge success in Europe. Hung Up is one of her most successful global singles ever. They would have A-listed the sounds of her shitting into a bucket without question.

It's the opposite in America, where she hasn't had a huge radio hit since Music/Don't Tell Me, so if the song is going to be a hit, it is going to take a little bit of TIME. Like more than 2 days. Like regardless of who is on the single.

  3. Haha...

well comparing it to those former singles... well offcourse... it's a super SMASH! haha

but there are many differences between this one and those singles you mention... and you know it!...

this is AIMED at the US radio with big US radio names involved... it is meant as the US COMEBACK single...

So this should be compared to other songs and not just Madonna's AL/COADF singles... because offcourse this is going to be a US smash compared to those...

Madonna could have recorded a song with Jesus and she would still have to start out on the lower/middle ground. No matter who is in there it is still a MADONNA single promoting the new Madonna album. Aimed at US radio means zero, do you think radio just says "this single was aimed at US radio we will play it 1,000 times the first day!" Not gonna name names but lots of shit aimed at US radio flops.

  4. I see you continue to be hit hard by Kylie's continued floppage.

He was saying if Kylie's lower selling albums in the UK are flops then so was LAP in the US.

Difference is, as I already pointed out, LAP is *4x* Platinum in the US while Kylie's UK low-sellers struggle to get past Platinum or to Platinum at all.

What he said was that LAP sold less than True Blue, but he considers it a more important album than True Blue. REGARDLESS OF SALES. In a similar way, Rhythm of Love sold less than Kylie's albums before it, but it has become the jewel of that period. REGARDLESS OF SALES. There was no comparison between Rhythm of Love and Like A Prayer, no saying that LAP flopped, etc. He really couldn't have been ANY MORE CLEAR.

  5. :manson: I don't like it when people twist my words. I was talking about Rhythm of Love and write an example so you could understand my point of view. I would never compare both albums and you have twisted my words so you can win the argument. Go, and win it. It's truly yours.

Rhythm of Love wasn't a big seller (following 2 big sellers), but over time the singles from it would become some of Kylie's best loved classics. Eventually important for her career and where she is today, but at the same time not much of a commercial success. So both arguments are valid.

  6. There's no Madonna CDs at my Target now- there's still a place card for COAD though. The local Wal-Mart has 1 COAD and 2 TIC. They have endless supply of Garth Brooks (who sells his stuff through them only)- they know their clientel, huh? I haven't been to the NYC and Virgin for weeks and I'm beginning to appreciate the effort someone probably has to make just to get a copy of a random Madonna album like Erotica.
