I feel, in her shows, she does 100% what she is physically able to. The older she gets the more she will have to space out the dancing. It's still a lot more than most are willing or able to do.

keith haring was an international art star. he wasnt JUST an underground american artist. his art is sold all over the world.
Kylie's Fever tour had his work (or something slimilar looking?) on her Fever tour during her 80's old school segment. You can do Keith Haring, or flash photos of the cast of The Facts of Life.

I also don't like the guitar parts but c'mon... she's a 50yo lady... not an athlete 25 yo... so what is your suggestion she would do then? Because you can't honestly say she would dance for every song? She's not a robot you now..
she's also trying to get as much live vocals in as humanly possible.
but then if she danced every number, people would want one where she stood there.

listen im so glad you said what you said about give it 2 me, miles away, the rock version of hung up. i was at roseland and it was the most incredible show ive seen. the energy was unbelievable. so when i returned from new york to LA, and saw everyone bashing it, it really soildified how jaded everyone is. its like, how can you even make such a harsh judgement on something youve seen off your computer? THE SHOW WAS AMAZING!!!! nobody in that audience was complaining. its the farcks at home, NOT THERE, munching on chips and a 2 liter that are all, "oh it sucked (munch munch, slurp slurp), she should have done..."
Just think 2 days ago a bunch of people here were saying she should take a break. What a fucking joke.

Yet another thing to keep in mind is that stations that play Madonna have tons of hits to pick from and obviously aren't going to play her every half hour, so the hits on their playlist eat into her newer material airtime. I'd be curious to see what Madonna's airplay is for all her singles combined for a week, vs. the airplay for a current big hit.

I donno about a radio boycott for political reasons, but I have to say the climate this country has been in under the Bush admin. probably doesn't mesh well with Madonna in general. I've actually felt that way since Bush took office- that everything was going to be anti-art and pro stupidity. Things just got worse for anyone with an opinion after 9/11. Looking back over the past 7+ years it would probably be out of place for someone like Madonna to florish here, not nessisarily because of a boycott but just the general state of the country.

I think a lot of factors come into play besides her age. She's really tested the pacience of radio in recent years (imo DAD was played reluctantly and she then really shot herself in the foot with AL), and Warner doesn't seem to be behind her fully since the start of the Music album. Maybe they take her for granted or maybe they don't care for the music she is making. Now with one foot out the door they aren't going to go out of their way to push for her songs at radio. With Warner behind her and her post- Don't Tell Me singles more radio friendly I think she'd today at least get airplay on par with Fergie and Gwen Stefani. IMO Madonna has been trying to correct some of these issues, but by leaving Warner it's not going to happen fully (though WW Confessions was a big step in the right direction).

When I got into music in the mid 80's it was all new artists, and from there I developed my taste in music. MTV and the radio were not playing 60's and 70's artists who were still around, it was all new, mostly pop and dance. I don't think it's fair to say kids today should have to listen to a whole bunch of older artists that they probably aren't interested in. Madonna is all over the place and if there's young people who like her style they are bound to find out about her. My HS had Beatles fans etc and they were no longer on the radio.

None of this really matters anymore. The money Madonna can make touring will ensure she continues putting out albums even if airplay and sales are minimum. I can see being worried about sales and airplay if it meant an artists survival but Madonna is beyond this now. So why worry? Who even listens to the radio?

I love how people say it's boring for her to stand there with the guitar and sing. Um, she is a singer, for fuck's sake. Everything doesn't have to be fireworks, cart wheels, and dazzling colors while you snort coke and think about the next cock to fuck your tired hole.
Rock on, Madonna.
A few songs are bound to cater to THAT audience, while there will be people who will appreciate something a little more like an actual rock concert. Good for Madonna for doing a bit of everything.

Some of us just want to come on and check for info on the tour - it's a bit disheartening to have to wade through pages and pages of people arguing over the most trival shit imaginable for no apparent reason other than wanting to feel a bit superior.

I would love to see really crazy photos of her wrapped in cellophane or with strings of gum raveled around her ending in her mouth or around her finger....something bizarre and freaky
her whole presentation this time around is so disjointed its odd
before the album came out Madonna described the sound as "make you feel good and kick your ass at the same time". feel good= candy, kick ass= boxer.

How come not wanting to read 60 pages of people complaining about something they haven't even seen yet always means those people must want to only hear Madonna shits gold? Also, it's a lot easier to read a critique no matter how negative, than whining and crying. Some people here don't know the difference.

I was never a huge fan of Ray Of Light to begin with, but I don't mind it because at least by doing it so often she is sort of forcing it to become a classic/ famous Madonna song. The ROL album deserves at least one on it!

While excellent songs, BS and HN aren't really humable or songs you get stuck in your head, which probably explains the lack of interest at radio.

Yeha, but BStory was soooooo out there in terms of top 40 fare- she couldn't have expected a big chart hit. And then HN also was a risky release. Billboard's Fred Bronson even commented on how she pushed the envelope by releasing those back-to-back non-radio-friendly singles.
NRM was the biggest shocker in terms of flops- it was the most mainstream track on ROL. Granted, had the single release coincided with its airplay peak, itwould have reached around No. 60 on the Hot 100- but, regardless, much lower than its should have, based on its commercial prospects. Then again, it wasn't as exciting as a lot of other classic-Madonna-sounding tracks.
Madonna got songs like Hanky Panky, Justify My Love, Erotica and Rescue Me into the top 10 (songs that would never have been played if by anyone else) and she was back to great airplay after the E backlash so I think they were expecting a 'madonna can do no wrong' hit with BS.
I always had a theory with NRM that Warner pulled the plug on it soon after it came out to make way for Beautiful Stranger, which needed to be out and a hit at a particular time to promote the movie it was from (had NRM been a hit it would have delayed BS for a couple of months). I also remember hearing Warner wanted to cancel the NRM maxi release but dumped them on the market because they had already gone into production- a couple of weeks later BS was on radio and the first Madonna single to have no commercial release. Seemed all connected to me.
