  1. So happy for Mexico. Looks like it was a great show!

Odette the UB. She says she didn't bring her husband because she needed to have fun alone, and M gave her a big hug. From her IG with video. https://www.instagram.com/p/BAO3GYrBYO1/?taken-by=odtsaga

Love the fans who get so excited and appreciative when they get chosen as UB!

  2. I wouldn't really be betting on reliable sources or evidence-based calculations with an account called, er, "Shady" Music. :rotfl:

Yep. Take it all with a pinch of salt, or maybe a teaspoon.

Don't know the origins of that twitter account but they don't post sources for their "facts" and claim to be unbiased.

Buzzfeed published a fact checking article on a few of their claims mid-2015. Link

Real or not, still decent PR that there was massive interest in M's music.

  3. The GQ interview also mentions the LIB dubplate. Love it!!

Megaclubby solo Diplo records such as 'Revolution' and 'Set it Off' have become SoulCycle anthems, and it was Mad Decent that broke Baauer's global hit 'Harlem Shake'. Which is not to mention Diplo's music with Santigold, Robyn, Bonde do Rolê, Die Antwoord, Kano, Lil Wayne, Azealia Banks, Iggy Azalea and pop stars from No Doubt to Bruno Mars. The Madonna sessions not only yielded tracks such as 'Bitch I'm Madonna' and 'Unapologetic Bitch', but a Diplo-solicited 'La Isla Bonita' dubplate that begins with Madonna singing, 'Last night I dreamed of Major Lazer'.

  4. Diplo posted on his IG as well. :inlove:

How did you and Madonna get on?
I think she really liked how I'm kind of effortless with what I do. I was there on the pretense that, cool, this is probably not the best idea but I'll get a good Instagram photo out of it so it will be awesome. It's a win-win situation for me. And we ended up having great chemistry. We made some cool ass records.
What do you mean that it probably wasn't the best idea?
I didn't think there was a lot I could offer her. And I heard stories that she was a crazy person and mean. I didn't see any of that. She really trusted me - a lot to ask from an artist of her stature. All I asked was that I'm not the best producer but if you want me to work with you let me work, let me do what I do. Let me give you what I'm good at. She was really open-minded. And we had a lot of stuff to talk about. We had similar friends and stuff with our kids. She actually helped me get my son into school. She was dope. She was really nice. She got me an awesome birthday present.
    What did she get you?
She got me a really nice jacket that I would never buy on my own. As you get older you don't spend money on stuff like clothes. I have kids and feel guilty every time I buy something for myself now. It was this awesome Thom Browne sick hoodie jacket for winter. I'd get it for free but I wouldn't buy a $5,000 jacket on my own.
  5. Where does this whole "Rebel Heart Tour is the last tour under the current contract" come from? I know we've discussed it here several times but there has never ever been an official press release or announcement from her team or LiveNation to actually state that. I'm sure if it were the last tour they would have made sure they would spell it out in big letters as it may encourage casual fans / punters to get tickets.

Having said that, I seem to remember that the original contract was a 10-year one from 2007 to 2017. So it would make sense then if this is her last tour with them to want to extend it a bit further..

Lol someone just threw out Iceland and everyone believes it!?!?

Didn't Arthur fogel give an interview to billboard in beginning of tour and said it was the last something? Anyone remember.

The interview/article you are referring to. The last tour bit doesn't come directly from Arthur Fogel as a quote but is mentioned in the article.

    http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop-shop/6487508/madonna-to-launch-rebel-heart-world-tour-in-august

Madonna's last tour in 2012 was a massive success, grossing $305 million and moving 2.2 million tickets to 88 shows, according to Boxscore. Previous Madonna tours with Fogel include Sticky & Sweet in 2008-2009 ($408 million gross, 3.5 million tickets sold, biggest tour ever for a female artist); Confessions in 2006 ($194 million gross, 1.2 million tickets sold to 60 shows), Re-Invention in 2004 ($125 million gross, 900,748 attendance).
This will also be the third -- and, presumably, final -- tour by Madonna under a 10-year multirights deal she inked with Live Nation in 2007, valued at a reported $120 million. The future of that partnership is unclear, given that Oseary's Maverick Management (which also includes U2, which struck a similar deal with Live Nation) is now part of Artist Nation, Live Nation's artist management division. Initially, the Live Nation/Madonna deal included recorded content (along with touring, merch, fan club/Website, DVDs, some sponsorships, and certain other music-related projects), but those recording rights were sold to Interscope in 2011 for a reported $40 million in a three-album deal, of which Rebel Heart is the second.
  6. Ciccone's Cheeks, thank you for posting the vid. Love it!

    --------

Where is JLO though? Didn't they include the bit about when she was "a little girl" and would watch Madonna jog in Central Park, even though she's only 10 years younger. Just leave out the don't spit on my craft bit from 17 years ago

    -----------

Seriously now, it's amazing how many different acts, artists and entertainers Madonna has inspired with her work and attitude and not just in music. Brava

XXL, there is a part 2, starting with JLo

  7. I found this going through my old Betamax tapes and posted it on FB and Vimeo but Wanted to share here just for fun...For those who were too young to remember here is a snapshot of teen fashion etc. in 1988. Can anyone spot Kelly Ripa? Enjoy :)

Thanks for sharing the vid. That was fun to watch, love it!

Was Kelly the girl in the checkered shirt?

  8. I just don't understand if there were actual reporters in that Manhattan court room or if somebody related the conversation to the press at a later moment. Bizzarre that it's in the press to begin with

According to the article, the courtroom was open to the public and there was a reporter present.

  9. What shocks me a little is that there is a court involved. So far I was under the impression that when it comes to their children they had a collaborative relationship. I even think that if all of this has been discussed properly between all of them, Madonna would be pretty open to the idea that Rocco stays with his father for some time as long as all school and whatever activities are ruled out. But to have a court order to bring him back sounds really serious.

I'm sad for M that this personal matter is now up for public consumption and for tabloids to latch onto. I hope it gets sorted out quickly and in a manner that would not damage M and Rocco's bond and relationship.

We don't know the facts, and it has always appeared collaborative but I don't think she had a choice here based on the report of what was said at the hearing, and Rocco is still a minor.

EXCLUSIVE: Madonna feuds with ex Guy Ritchie over custody of son, teen wants to stay with director dad in London

BY Barbara Ross, Stephen Rex Brown

    NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

    Wednesday, December 23, 2015, 10:24 AM

One of Madonna’s sons does not want to return from London and would rather live with his father, the pop star revealed Wednesday.

The “Vogue” singer asked Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan to force film director Guy Ritchie to send their teenage son back to New York.

“He has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York,” a lawyer for Ritchie said regarding the son.

At that Madonna, agitated and wearing a black wool fur cape, tried to interject but was calmed by her lawyer, Eleanor Alter.

“Has he prevented the child from returning to the U.S.?” Kaplan asked.

    “Effectively yes,” Ritchie’s lawyer replied.

Madonna is asking a judge to order her son return to New York from London.

Kaplan ordered Ritchie to bring the teen to New York, and said the child will be represented by a court appointed attorney.

    Madonna divorced Ritchie in 2008.

  10. I had the pleasure of attending the Glasgow concert last night and bought the tour book. Inside it says the "SEX" interlude is directed by Nathan Rissman, produced by Nicola Kenney for Caviar and edited by Danny Tull.

The interlude was basically an edit of the "Erotica" music video (directed by Fabian Baron) so what gives? I remember she posted on Instagram wearing a blonde bob and glasses with the quote "when the student is ready the teacher appears." I am thinking this was something to do with the original interlude video.

    I wonder what happened?

JWAD, Nightcutter shared some observations about this during the Portland show as well. Link

there are 3 frames of her during the rap: in one she is holding a champagne bottle, in the 2nd she holds a botte of perfume with a pump and in the 3rd she walks in her stilletos on a chess-tiled floor

  11. I don't suppose any of it really matters now, but the 11pm curfew is flexible and changes depending on the act that night.

The Daily Record is a tabloid, the BBC is, well, the BBC.

Old school Madonna didn't change her set, new school does, so we can't really go by that

She definitely mentions doing Holiday as she's leaving the stage after UB, possibly as a way of telling her people to keep the show going. Her own crew were literally starting to take the set apart as she sang Holiday.

Who knows? It all makes for a good story anyway.

The BBC News with surprisingly bad proofreading though. :chuckle: Thanks for the clarification about the flexible curfew.

Bit of a mystery to it all but I agree with you, none of it matters now. We did get an incredible show and a unique encore.

Holiday was so much fun to watch and M was happy!

  12. The Hydro say it was Madonna's people that pulled the plug.... from BBC

A spokeswoman for the venue said: "Madonna finished her agreed set and then chose to come on for another song.

"By that stage, all the power and control equipment had already been disconnected by her own production engineers. I would stress that this was not a venue decision."

This review of the show by dailyrecord.co.uk indicates that the SSE Hydro normally runs to an 11pm curfew, and also updated their article with the quote from the Hydro spokeswoman. Unlike the BBC article, they phrased the additional information as such:

A Hydro spokesperson said: “Madonna finished the agreed set, and then chose to come on for another song."

"By that stage all the power and control equipment had already been disconnected by the production teams.”

However, Madonna has performed Holiday as an encore throughout the tour.

The Hydro quote doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't M's "agreed set" include the encore?

Here's the BBC News article, and with a glaring typo in the first sentence of the article too.

The signer left the stage at the end of her Rebel Heart tour concert on Sunday.
