  1. I get that but the musical landscape changed, too. You don't need a hummable tune anymore to get a hit (sadly). Harley Shake, for example. lol

I'm not saying Gang Bang would have been a smash hit for her…probably not. But it would have garnered interest and attention and maybe it would have been surprise hit, who knows...

Agreed. GB itself may not have been a smash hit, but it's edginess combined with a stellar video would have garnered more interest, and perhaps respect for the album. GMAYL did not represent the album well, some people may have heard it and assumed the full album was much of the same so they never bothered to check it out further.

  2. Why is it that these fan sites feel the need to critique the music in the info they give....? Why not just report what you heard, and reserve your opinion for your friends or with other fans? That is unprofessional news reporting...no one wants an opinion, just the facts as you saw them. Do they feel it will somehow make their exclusives more believable and authentic if they tone down their excitement with unwarranted critiques?

  3. US radio will not play not play her new material, but as mentioned, radio is no longer the sole avenue to chart success. Madonna is the master at causing a buzz for even the most minute things, just look at how many times she has made headlines with her Instagram posts. A good, solid track with a worthwhile video and she could really get a social media surge that would translate into high digital sales, etc. I have always imagined that had she released Gang Bang as the lead single for MDNA with the kick-ass video she had hoped to make for it that things would have unfolded far differently. A non-radio friendly, but incredibly unique and edgy track could have garnered a far better public interest than what the pretty dismal GMAYL did.

  4. :rotfl: Yes, Teddy (Tubby) Edwards ran that old site and he did sometimes get real exclusives. Unlike these nobodies that STOLE the name years later (they are in no way reviving or connected to the original site)

Whatever happened to ol' Teddy? Is he still around somewhere in the M world? Back in the day, his site was THE place to go as an M fan...I remember he lost interest or didn't have the time, etc anymore to run the site so he closed it. I also heard that he was upset with M and/or her management over something so he backed off M altogether.

  5. Imagine life 20 years ago....most of us did not have the net and knew only what the artist wanted us to know and received when they were good and ready to deliver.. Overzealous interest and forced release dates to avoid leaks, etc are only going to hinder the creative process and potentially rush the final result. Let Madonna do her thing, complete her process, and let go of it when she feels that it is ready. We have had her for 30 years and counting, what is waiting another few months?

  6. The BoyCulture article holds weight as far as traditional releases are concerned. It's September, by this point there would be some form of official release notice if there were to be a Fall release. There is still a chance that she will do something unexpected and release the first single unexpectedly, or do something as grand as the Beyonce iTunes release.

In the end, we don't really know anything.....but it does feel like this will be a Spring 2015 album.

  7. Devil was written for the Hello Suckers musical, was it not? That was just before RIT or AL I think?

    Correct:

"Miss You", "If You Go Away", "How High", "Curtain", "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" and "Is this Love (Bon D'Accord)" – among a number of songs written for a planned musical Hello Suckers, a 20s-style musical loosely based on the life of Texas Guinan.[140] Songs were written with a number of co-writers including Patrick Leonard and Mirwais Ahmadzai. Lyrics from "How High" were later reworked into a song for Confessions on a Dance Floor. Some lyrics from "Is This Love" were later re-used on the song "Voices" on the album Hard Candy. "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" was planned to be included on The Re-Invention Tour, but was later reworked with Madonna's brother-in-law Joe Henry. Ultimately, the song did not surface until the album Hard Candy following further development with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Nate Hills. "Is this Love (Bon D'Accord)" has since been leaked to the internet. "If You Go Away" is based on the classic "Ne me quitte pas" by Jaques Brel. The English version has been covered by a wide range of artists, including Marlene Dietrich, Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. Madonna's version leaked onto the internet on September 2, 2010. "Miss You" was also planned for the musical and has more of an acoustic folk feel to it and leaked onto the internet on September 3, 2010,[141] some lyrics were later re-used on the song "Like It or Not" from the album Confessions on a Dance Floor.

  8. So Ingrid just has a photo of M and her children framed (and by the looks mounted, on the wall) in her house?

Funny you say that...I was actually at her Miami apartment around Christmas with a friend of mine who has known her for ages. Ingrid was very warm and friendly and I really enjoyed the time spent with her. I resisted mentioning her pal Madonna and though I did keep a keen eye open, I saw no photos of Madonna anywhere. Ingrid showed off some family portraits framed on an entryway table but even then, no M pics in sight.

And as for your question, see for yourself on Ingrid's IG:

  9. Does anyone have an idea where and when the following picture of M and kids was taken? Found it on tumblr. It's not from Instagram, but I couldn't find a more appropriate thread. It's a picture of a picture: you can see three silhouettes in the background reflection. Wondering if the painting could be part of THE collection...

This was posted by Ingrid on her Instagram account, wishing M a happy birthday. I assume she snapped it. Looks like when she was on holiday w M and family back in 2009. She posted a snap of herself leaving Dolce and Gabbana's villa in the summer of 2009...you can see M wearing the same outfit as in this shot so one would assume it's all from the same day.
  10. More about I Want You for DWT:

MT: Did you happen to work on songs that were never used in the final set list? It has happened in other tours...

AM: Yes, actually the was one song that they wanted me to choreograph and that didn't make the final show.

    It was "I Want You".

Madonna was supposed to wear this beautiful dress and she was supposed to be on a stage that moved over the audience and they took the idea out because it was going to cost too much money and she was going to loose a big part of the audience so they cut that out.

It was going to be a really beautiful, statuesque number, with limited amount of movement but very grand, beautiful movement with a wind machine blowing.

It was really a great concept.

  11. Same way you missed my Happy Birthday thread to you.

There was a Happy Birthday thread to me? I had no idea! Honestly, I only look at this forum and the New Album forum...I never venture into the others. I'm so sorry that I missed it and don't even know where to find it but certainly appreciate the very kind thought and gesture BambiGambi!
