  1. I forget what magazine it was, some fashion magazine, maybe tatler or harpers, but they had a little tidbit in a column about one of Ms outfits for the confessions tour. She were to be covered in whip cream and the dancers were going to lick it off her.

Thank god that remained a rumor....sounds so Katy Perry/Lady Gaga....of course, before their time, but still, it still feels a bit below the Madonna-live standard.

  2. Gang Bang having a music video directed by Quentin Tarantino

Well as you are aware, this wasn't so much rumor as it is based in truth. Madonna herself said had she asked Quentin to direct GB but he was too busy making "Django" and couldn't wait as she had to go on tour....later on, Tarantino said that though he was asked, he would never direct a music video, he didn't care who it was for.....

Madonna did the next best thing and delivered her video idea onstage which was truly epic....but a proper music vid certainly would have been phenomenal and certainly would have garnered a mass amount of attention (and probably helped album sales) had it come to fruition.

  3. This was shown to us in a business class I took in high school around 1999. I was already a HUGE fan and flipped out when it came across the screen during a segment on "media censorship". This interview, JML video, and Madonna herself were the core subject matter for the discussion on the topic. Needless to say it was a very good day for the high school me and I still remember it to this day!

  4. I think it's the overall clarity and panning shots with durations exceeding 1 second that have our collective tits aflame.

A mix of these sweeping shots edited into some nice, still angles from the front of the stage would have made for a superior video experience.

That "Vogue" shot at the very end with her strutting up the steps is orgasmic.

Well said...it's not the angles so much as it is the realistic quality of it that has most of us drooling for more. It is how we remember the show....Madonna did not appear as an over-filtered hologram in real life as she does in the release. I realize the heavily edited releases are the norm since Confessions, but it would be amazing to one day have a standard concert release in the vein of DWT, GS, etc. But, something is better than nothing, I would rather have a "film version" of a tour than nothing at all, it is her show, her release, her decision....so I certainly appreciate whatever she gives us.

  5. God yes, please do what you can lol I would buy that DVD from them in a heartbeat. When she was coming up the stairs in the Vogue outfit, toward the end, and posed.... breathtaking. Even the shots w/ just her background dancers were very cool.

It was so nice (and refreshing) to just see a beautiful sweep of things rather than quick edits.

I am willing to DO whatever or whomever it takes....it's not just for love...it's for Madonna! ::washes dirty boy parts and heads to EJ Studio::

  6. I agree with you Sloane. I personally prefer the more "live" vibe of this footage compared to the more "produced/polished" look the official release provides. Perhaps one day the full show will leak from Extreme Jibs....they are local here to me in Miami...maybe I should work on befriending someone!

  7. My 23 year old friend is Madonna-ignorant so aside from cramming music vids and concert DVDs down his throat, I'd like to share a very effective montage to present him the Queen in a cliff notes format. There are so many awesome ones, the Queen of Pop one comes to mind but it's a bit outdated now, so I need something that mixes live and video formats and is fairly new. Anyone know of anything?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

  8. I know madonna likes to be in control of everything but she needs to let the right people write the screenplay. If she wants her vision to come across, just direct the film. Her writing abilities are weak, but her vision in both FandW and WE had some very good and promising visuals and ideas. I like that she branches out and experiments. Just dont put your two cents In on the screenplay. I want a film directed by Madonna and not have the story remind me of Madonnas life or her own personal beliefs.

    100% agree with this.

  9. I've heard the drug thing quite a bit over the years too. Anyone who truly believes that is completely ignorant about Madonna...she is and has remained so incredibly successful due to her persistent and resilient self-control and clean living. Anyone who knows anything honest about her will admit to her obsessive work ethic, her consistent fitness regime, and her knack for challenging herself both physically and artistically. Her stone resilience is what inspires me most both as artist and human being. What other 30+ year artist is out on tour jumping rope and slack lining? Most people, given Madonna's tremendous success would gladly and easily just rely on their grand laurels and never push for more. Madonna refuses, and that is why she is Queen. There is no room for drugs....also, I agree that she has exaggerated her pre-fame drug use....it depends on who she is talking to that dictates her answer. I think she wanted to appear more badass at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by mentioning her ecstasy use and whatnot.

  10. I don't think the general public considered her a legend in an Elvis or Beatles sort of way until Ray of Light or shortly after.

Agreed. I think she was a solidified ICON for years, but ROL proved her relevance as an artist, verifying that she was far more than just a super or pop star but a true, absolute legend. She returned to the music scene with a brilliant album that easily stood atop of her previous (already brilliant) catalog with shine and ease. Then 15 years into the game, she wowed the world as only a legend could. Remember how her very strut onto an awards show stage in 1998-1999 received a standing ovation? When an artist can have that effect, to just show up and have the crowd on their feet, they have reached legendary status.

  11. Madonna sold the Miami house in 1997...it was apart of the VIzcaya Estate. Currently, she does not own any property in Miami, at least not that she uses as a residence.

I know the Coconut Grove (Vizcaya Estate) house has had several owners since the sale, but some were odd and random to say the least....wasn't one a dog? And another some European pop group? I live in South Florida so perhaps it's more of a local news thing, but I certainly recall hearing of strange investors/owners of the property through the years.

  12. Oh, and Abel Korzeniowski confirmed that a recording of "Masterpiece" with real strings exists.

And WHYYYYY that was not the official release is still a baffle to the brain. To choose the keyboard strings over an actual orchestra? It took me a while to get over the "demo" sound of Masterpiece back when it first came out for WE. It's such a beautiful song with a lackluster production.

  13. The current public perception is most certainly at an all time "low"....the tremendous negative, hateful, ageist feedback after the Grammy's has been appalling and disturbing. Still, if anyone thinks they have something up on Madonna, they are fools, as she's been in the game longer than most of her critics have been wiping their own ass and she knows damn well the reaction she is going to cause. I mean, come on, the woman showed up dressed like a Quaker with a grill in her mouth and then took the stage as Colonel Sanders with a pimp strut and cane...she intends to piss people off and most of the public buys right into it, writing her off as "old, irrelevant, etc etc" yet it's that fury she conjures that keeps her solidified in pop culture.

I see "fans" on social media and in various comment sections stating "she's ruining her legacy, she's become a desperate clown, she's so scared of aging, its sad....too much plastic surgery, dressing too young, dating too young....etc etc"....but these comments are blatantly ignorant to the true Madonna legacy. She has built a career on never playing it safe, pissing people off and causing a stir simply by showing up. When it comes to outrageous appearances shall we cite Cannes 1991 or the 92' Gaultier show? What about the obvious biggies, Like a Prayer video, Justify My Love, Truth or Dare, Sex Book?

Why should she stop simply because she's of a certain age? That's the very reason NOT to stop. Its truly the attitude of a rebel. People just don't get it, they choose to see her as sad and desperate for relevance, yet they are forgetting that this is the same woman who defied allowing a male dominated industry or society to dictate her image, sexuality, and career, so she will be damned if they are going to dictate how she should age. It's not about being "desperate" as it is about saying "fuck you" to everyone who expects for her to strap on a designer gown, croon some ballads and gently fade into legendary obscurity.

She could easily and quietly live out the rest of her days enjoying the mass riches of her tremendous success, traveling the world, adopting more kiddies, building new orphanages, staying out of the limelight, but Madonna still rages and burns with that same rebellious fire that rocket launched her out of Michigan over 30 years ago. Apart of Madonna's mastery is her effortless ability to shit-start, and she is actually more herself these days than she was at the height of Kabbalah obsession and marriage to Ritchie.

In 30 years, they haven't learned, the more they scream and shout, the stronger her relevancy...the harder they try and pull her down, the more solidified she is as the master of public manipulation. She pulls their strings and they dance....every time.

  14. I read somewhere that the song was given to her completed, she made a few changes and added her vocals. If true, I wonder if the songwriter had Madonna in mind or it was a generalized story that one of Madonna's creative collaborators thought would fit her (quite perfectly actually) given her massive (yet generaly unpublicized) divorce settlement.

I think M made it far more personal with the tour version than she did with the album recording. It is quite infuriating that Ritchie was legally able to squeeze so much out of her. He didn't deserve shit. Had this been the other way around, the media would have never let it go....yet, it was hardly reported as the press would rather close shop than allow Madonna to appear victimized, wronged, or taken advantage of. As always, Madonna kept her dignity, and to this day she has not publicly mentioned Ritchie's name, much less denounce or berate him. Like a true artist, she saved her rage for her work.
