Weren't those pictures taken at the Talk Magazine launch party on Liberty Island, or was that the one with the baby blue tank top?
I don't know, she went to so many parties that summer !

What kills me on these pics i posted above is that she's not even in a nightclub, just a party, and you can clearly see nobody's dancing or moving, everyone is standing still, chatting quietly, and there is one crazy storm dancing her ass off like she's in the middle of a dancefloor and that's our girl lmaoooo she's crazy and i love her !

Thank you for this thread, a truly magical time in her life and a magical time to be a fan. It was a great period in my life also, final year of school and just such a feeling in the year with the coming millenium and my coming of age as an adult.
In Australia it just felt like hit after hit after hit. We got two number one's in one year (Music & American Pie) as well as two massive top 5 singles (Don't Tell Me & Beautiful Stranger).
You i know i can see myself in your comment, because if i remember correctly we're almost same age (i was born in 1982), and actually during that period between 99 and 00, it was also my final year at school, the beginning of the new millennium and at the same time i was about to step into the adult age, and all this with Madonna radiating happiness !

I'm glad i'm not the only one who has lovely memories from that year, reading all your personal comments it reflects very well the vibe of that period, very positive. Indeed, as some you said, it was a great time to be a fan.

I just wanted to make a thread to celebrate the mid 1999 to mid 2000 Madonna era ! I hope some of you loved that year with Madonna as much as i did and still do.
A year between two great albums, Ray of Light & Music. A happy Madonna, finally back to music success worldwide, with a growing little girl at age of 3, her first child, with lots of projects in her head (Mirwais, Music) but who also wanna give her fans some goodies all along the year until her new album.

But come on, there is no need of long discussion, just look at the pics from her early days in NYC, way before she met Maripol and you will see she already had that funky punk style !

Exactly. Sure she had stylist from the beginning like Maripol, but as Getunconscious said very well, then Madonna gave life to it, mixed it with her own personalty.
As for Maripol, sure she designed tons of clothes and accessories for her when she began in the music industry but don't forget Madonna also created that "urban meets punk" style herself in her early days in New-York, even before she met Maripol, just look at the pics from her pre-fame years. Many people, including Pearl lang, her famous dance teacher, told anecdotes about how Madonna was cutting her t-shirts, customized them with huge safety pins, put stuff in her hair, and how people would stopped and look at her on the streets etc..., and this was before Maripol or any stylist entered her life.
If there is one style/look she is the main creator of it's the early one 80 to 85.

It's never right when they try to recreate her early 80's look. Madonna was raw, you could felt her spontaneity in her look, something they never succeed to recreate. Those look-a-like style is always too "static" and not naturally raw, especially the hair. it's hard to explain but some of you will get what i mean.

I know right! How completely blind are these people. It must suck having to convince yourself daily of complete fallacies
i know right, but on the other hand, as long as there are people who say you are over and try to bring you down, everything's ok ! If everybody praise ya or worst don't talk about you, then you have to worry ;-)

So in the end there is indeed something happening and it's starting in March, and it's like a game we have to guess what it is (question mark)... All this reminds me of something, just sayin' ;-)

This morning i've burnt a cd with Beautiful Stranger & American Pie (with some other great tracks from that year from other artists) and blasted it while having a shower. It was amazing, i got such good vibes. I'm single for one week after a demanding 9 months relationship and now i'm ready to have an exciting summer as well !
