  1. I don't think physical cd albums will disappear soon... heck if vinyl is still being pressed so will the cds,,, it is for the fans... THAT"S WHY RECORD COMPANIES SHOULD PUT EFFORT IN COMING UP WITH BEAUTIFUL PHYSICAL RELEASES BECAUSE FANS WILL NEVER STOP BUYING IT...

That's very true. Just look at Kylie's PWL album re-issues all re-charting this past week, even though everything on the packages has already been released elsewhere many times over

I do think the standard physical CD release will die out, with more special edition box sets etc. made at mega $$$ prices. Vinyl sales are booming because it's great to collect.

  2. It will be very interesting to see what Madonna will do in her 60s. I can't see massive world tours going on for ever. I think after this upcoming tour, the next will be a GH tour ala Cher's "Farewell", and then after that she will focus on a continent at a time to perform a handful of smaller arena shows.

Traditional original albums will be few and far between after the LN contact is up. I can see more collaborations, movie soundtracks, more experimental music, but I think Madonna's "pop" career will end in a few albums' time., all of her own choosing. The next album after RH will more than likely be the last "big" album that she releases, then we will have a new GH album or box set to finish off her contract.

I think we can expect a heap of "from the vaults" releases after this time too.

  3. I first became a fan when Like a Prayer (the single) was released - I was 9, and remember my two female cousins dressing like Madonna back in 1985, with the big hair, lace gloves, rubber bracelets, but never connected it with Madonna until much later  I was a Kylie fan in 1988-1989, hadn't really heard of any Madonna music at that time apart from "La Isla Bonita" which was on a compilation album my brother owned and played all the time. When Like a Prayer was released, I remember the name "Madonna" being everywhere, her music was played in every store you stepped into, she was on the cover of every magazine, they had reports about her on TV news... maybe I just wasn't aware of this all before being so young, but it was like she just emerged from nowhere for me!

My first 7" single I ever bought was "Vogue", then I begged one of before mentioned cousins to buy me the "Justify My Love" cassingle when it was released at the end of 1990. I saw the video past midnight on local Australian TV music show "rage" not long after during a sleep over with a friend, it was a very early sexual awakening  I stole my brother's cassette version of TIC from his car one day and listened to it non stop, taking it to primary school almost daily to listen to at lunchtimes  Madonna was so cool and hot back then, everyone at my primary school in my grade was envious of my cassette!

Haven't stopped loving her since then, unfortunately was deemed "too young" to see the Girlie Show tour when it made it to Australia, so I've been waiting 22 long years for her to return to our shores so I can live out a lifelong dream. Again, like the LAP release, Madonna was everywhere here at that time, but now she was being "overly sexual" and wasn't suitable for kids, so my mum especially tried to filter what I was listening to/watching, but failed as she bought me Prince's "Lovesymbol" album for Christmas 92, which was just as sexual as Erotica

After Bedtime Stories came and went I admit I did lose interest a bit mid-1990s when Evita came along (still haven't seen that movie in full, just have no interest in it!) I was more into Janet and Alanis at that time, until Frozen was released of course and then it was like she never left. She lost me a little also with "Confessions", never really got into that album or era, but Hard Candy was such a redemption! I don't know if my love for Madonna and her music has yet reached it's peak, she's just that kind of artist.
