Yeah it was a good interview. Andrew Denton is very good natured and intelligent, so asked the right questions and just let her speak. I like that the production showed clips of the Medellin music video and Billboard performance, as well as her and the kids' time in Lisbon and Africa.

That 45 second clip of Medellin was the most commercial airplay it has received I reckon sadly!

  2. This album... wow. Confessions fans wanting a part 2, please step away and go listen to Cyndi Lauper's dated-upon-release dance album, there's your part 2.

Anyway, Crazy is one of my early favourite, those vocals and that beat! The vocal reminds me of the grittiness of Rescue Me at times 😄

Then we have I Don't Search I Find going into Looking for Mercy and I am dead.

I've listened 3x in a row this morning, and I really can't see me wanting to listen to anything else for a long time!

This overall score, or METASCORE, is a weighted average of the individual critic scores. Why a weighted average? When selecting our source publications, we noticed that some critics consistently write better (more detailed, more insightful, more articulate) reviews than others. In addition, some critics and/or publications typically have more prestige and respect in their industry than others. To reflect these factors, we have assigned weights to each publication (and, in the case of movies and television, to individual critics as well), thus making some publications count more in the METASCORE calculations than others.

Beyonce's Live album has a 98 rating when she barely sings her songs? I don't give these ratings any credence at all tbh.

Hear what you're saying but fans have legitimate criticisms as well.I know some people bitch non-stop though. lol

I can understand if people didn’t like the vocal or the arrangements of the tracks, but then to go and say everything is a disaster and she’s too old, out of shape, shouldn’t have bothered etc is what I’m talking about.

  5. It’s simple really.

people think Madonna + Eurovision = huge gay camp disco orgy, glitter feathers and drag queens

reality = a political performance with no dancing or hung up, a (shock) trap artist as a guest

end product = tantrums and ranting about how she’s lost it, media picking up this side of the reaction and running with it. Madonna gets bashed by everyone including her “fans”, Madonna gives zero fucks and carries on as she got her message across, fan base bitch and whine for a few days and then wait for the next thing to be disappointed with to Bitch and whine about.

  6. This was in Israel, this performance was always going to be political and not a big gay orgy celebration. She could have easily given us Music and Medellin, but chose to use the platform to make a message. LAP sounded fine to me, vocally it's the same as she ever has been. Future did seem out of place and live vocoder always sounds terrible, Quavo looked like he just wanted to go to bed... but I am glad she chose to use her platform the way she did. Not her best by far, but not the complete disaster the "under 100 posts" brigade are making it out to be.

Another day, another drama on Madonnanation!

It seems that the soundofvinyl US store doesn't ship to Australia ?

That seems strange and its not on the soundofvinyl UK or AU sites where I usually shop...Ugh!

I really want the Blue vinyl.

Yes the UK and AU SOV sites have different stock to the US store. I was lucky I got 2 copies in time!

I am kind of expecting JB Hifi or Sanity to have some sort of special edition for Australia in all honesty.

I disagree. A single like Hung Up, capitalizing on the campiness and dance music Madonna is famous for, supported by huge promo like Eurovision, would surely make Top 10s around the world excluding the US.

So kids like campy dance music now do they? I thought it was all trap, that Billie girl with singing kneecaps and mumbling 😞

Her only chance of getting good singles chart positions would be if she released an undeniable, universally loved single like Hung Up or even 4 Minutes. Which she hasn't done in a decade. Whether you love or hate Medellin, you simply cant argue that its the stellar song she needed.

She isn’t streamed by kids and teenagers. She could release Like a Prayer today and it would miss the top 100. Time to stop caring about the singles charts when it comes to Madonna.

Does anyone know if any other remixes have been commissioned for Medellín? I heard Crave has been remixed but what about I Rise?

Madonna mentions on Instagram that this is "the first lot" of remixes, so I'd assume a lot more are coming. All 3 of the RH singles had 10+ remixes released, so can't see why that would change.

This is really interesting about how the UK charts work, it appears that radio airplay makes no difference, and only streams and purchased music count, so for Madonna to break into the top 40 she would need 800,000 paid streams or 4.5million free streams!

How are the Official UK Charts calculated?

The Official UK Chart is calculated by sales as well as both music and video streams, with a variable streaming ratio depending on whether the user has a free or paid subscription. This means that 100 paid streams will equal one sale, as will 600 free streams.

For example, if your track gets 100,000 paid streams across the various online music & video platforms like Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and other, they will be counted as 1,000 sales by the charts and included in your final sales total, whereas you'd need 600,000 free streams to generate that same number. Other sales include both paid digital downloads and physical releases.

How many sales do I need to get into the Official UK charts?

In recent years, the average UK Top 40 single will have made at least 8,000 sales, while the number one track will have sold around 100,000 copies. The figures for the Official UK album chart are similar, with the average top 40 album selling over 4,000, and the number one typically achieving sales of around 60,000.

Radio airplay makes no difference to the charts in the UK, but it gives exposure to a song which in turn can increase sales and streaming. It's kind of baffling that say 8,000 UK fans haven't bothered to purchase the track, but if a physical or physicals were released, we'd have another top 40 hit guaranteed. Oh well.
