  1. It's good, though that the tour seems to start dark and get progressively lighter, ending on an up note.

There are things I wish were on here (I can't quite believe "Love Spent" has been left in the cold), and a few I wish were off (really only "Candy Shop" and "Revolver" bug me as tone-deaf choices). Some will carp about "Human Nature" getting yet another live performance (in truth, it's not a favorite of mine), but it is excitingly placed, and others are sick of "Like a Prayer," to which I say: "It's arguably her best-ever song." (For me, "Into the Groove" is her best, but "Like a Prayer" is right up there.)

Loved reading your well-thought appreciations. I agree that some choices are rather odd while others inexplicable (if there truly is no Love Spent and she ends with Celebration ), but it's always this way.

In my ideal world this tour would've included only Erotica, American Life and Like a Prayer cuts (along with MDNA of course)---and then only two or three selected bonafide hits (outside of whatever hits can be found in those albums). But there's a reason why I'm not a career manager, I guess ;)

  2. Since this topic is more popular than the stage one ;)

Madonna on Tour with flexible hoses from Neede:

Popstar Madonna will be touring the world from May 31 with flexible hoses from Neede. Ontop of the giant stage the popstar will bring an inflatable roof, filled with air through hoses from the company Reefhors in Neede.

Director Herman ten Barge is very proud of the special order. As dj he spanned a lot of Madonna tracks in the 80s.

The international stage building company StageCo from Belgium will be building FOUR huge, identical sages of 70 meters in width, 40 meres deep and 26 metros in height.

"A sail as roof was found to be too risky, that is why a construction was thought of with an inflatable roof."

A customer of Reefhoors will be taking care of the fans and approached Ten Barge to supply more than a kilometer of hoses. I instantly said "whatever happens, I will fulfill Madonna's order".

    From a Dutch paper.

Look @ the dimensions of their stage (85' high by 200' wide... M's is 85' by 230') http://www.mgmclaren.com/node/276 - Meaning its even bigger than that of the rolling stones' bigger bang tour stage.

We're gonna get a real stadium stage

I'm a little lost as to what the flexible hoses means visually - could you explain? and what does an inflatable roof look like? thanks!

  3. "The MDNA tracks... I'm thrilled... though I have to say.... I saw how they could've been better from day 1."

He's proud, but not proud enough apparently.

I got the same interpretation. Fair enough (songs, like any other art, could be tweaked over and over and over), but MDNA is great as it is. Though he could've definitely helped with the track listing! I read somewhere that we was responsible for it since he was the supervisor of the whole project. Thematically it makes sense but sound wise it's pretty terrible. But we got the same disaster with Music (I wonder if he was involved in the sequencing then too).

Oh well, that's not what I came to share today: I listened to the album for real, with my headphones on and not at work or about to sleep or on the bus or whatever and I was blown away all over again. Walking outside with I'm Addicted; buying groceries with Gang Bang and I'm a Sinner; getting coffee with Love Spent and Masterpiece; walking back with Turn Up the Radio and making breakfast with Beautiful Killer and I Fucked Up. It was marvelous. Thank you, Madonna.

  4. As someone else pointed out, Love Profusion was not performed at the Reinvention Tour, and it got a video + single release. Of course, Love Spent is a much better and more powerful song, but...

Ultimately what I think gets a lot of us frustrated in the weeks prior to a tour is that we know that she doesn't change songs once the setlist is final. [Please don't bring up S+S tour because the two versions were months apart AND the point remains that once she chose the second setlist for the second leg, she didn't change songs afterwards either.]

So that's why we get upset at this or that song not being performed. It's not like one day she'll perform Masterpiece and on another date she'll do Love Spent instead.

On a side note, I honestly think that not switching up "filler"/low-intensity songs is a missed opportunity to sell more tickets - I would DEFINITELY shell out another ticket if I knew that on the second night performing in the same city she'll change three or four songs. Hell, I would even travel to another nearby city!

Also, it would help her not get bored (and this will be a long ass tour).

But oh well, pop concerts don't work that way usually. Perhaps people would be averse to it actually.

  5. Cuz "she's gonna git 'er geeee-tar and play for youuuu". Anyway, she insists on doing that song on guitar and her playing guitar on the last song would suck. But, really she should go with something stronger than celebration to close the show with.

Thank you for this. A new Ray of Light? Might work (it did during Confessions) or it might be terrible (everything done on guitar during S&S).

Gosh, I even think (and I now I'm gonna get slapped by this entire forum) that Give Me All Your Luvin' could be a more fun and exciting closer than Celebration. At least it's actually festive and we can all sing L-U-V one thousand times.

  6. I don't think it's strong enough to end a show. It's no Hung Up, that's for sure. She needs to end on a hit, not a song that the majority of people have no clue what it is.

I'm Addicted would have made a great finish with MDNA repeated over and over again to a crescendo and a final explosion. I think Celebration could work well. It's frivalous and the chorus works well. Often the weaker songs work well live.

Mmm nice point, but I did and do think Turn Up the Radio will be a single. And if Give it 2 me could end a show, why couldn't this... Agreed that a remix or something of I'm Addicated could've been amazing.

I'm still on the fence about Celebration as a closer. As much as I love the song, there's nothing to really sing along to... And the theme of the song makes no sense either - it's an invitation to dance right when the show is about to end? But I'm reading too much into it.

  7. I agree. I think she needs to make it a mix of the Celebration/Holiday so the show can close on a high. I was listening to the Benassi remix of Celebration yesterday and that would be a major anti climax. The album version has more of a feel good vibe.

Better yet she could just follow up Celebration with Holiday. Holiday is THE tour classic, it never gets tired.

This is so true. I quite like Celebration and of course the Benassi remix but as a tour closer I think Oakenfold's works best. And def Holiday could be mixed in better if that were the case.

Although why the show wouldn't close with Turn Up the Radio intrigues me. I think an extended version of this, with that beautiful climactic bridge (a la Hung Up) would be just fine. And of course you can mix in freaking Holiday with it too! Holiday can be mixed in with everythaaang that she got!

  8. in a perfect Madonna world she would take time to shoot a music video for TUTR on her 3 day break between Abu Dahbi and Istanbul

    and shoot the video there.

I absolutely agree and in fact thought that that was the reason for all those days in between shows...

It seems absurd to not release a new single about the same week that the tour starts, no? With all the media coverage she'll get...

I think people over on the MDNA Tour - Promo Videos threads are right: we are gonna get a tour video for Turn up the Radio and THAT will be video used to promote the single starting June. Let's hope that's not the case.

  9. I would like to see pro shot footage of parts of the show not long after the tour starts.

Also, I think it would be great if she did some acoustic YouTube videos backstage (yes, like Kylie did.) Little things like that and maybe behind the scenes/rehearsal footage too. There's so much cool stuff they could be doing that takes little/no effort, instead they wasted their time doing those crappy interviews on TV shows noone watches.

I would love this too, and we might get it. In fact, that's what I thought was going to happen when Orbit started talking about acoustic versions (as opposed to doing an mp3-only of Love Spent, where Madonna doesn't even sing her part live).

As you say, the fact that these are cost/effective ways of promoting (particularly quick backstage footage) increases the chances of it actually happen. Now, acoustic YouTube videos of decent quality (like

)... that's more doubtful. Though it would be beautiful.

    Here's to hoping!

  10. i know, but I'm just not into the whole cheap and generic dance shit, especially when we know she has such great songs that would be a lot better (nothing really matters, for example.. or rescue me). performing her Z list songs, so to speak, instead of some of her best and underperformed work isn't something this fan likes to hear ;) .

The only unintended consequence of a possible lack of demand on this tour/album might be that then she finally does a tour for real fans, like Kylie is doing/did.
