  1. Is there intro footage of Rome? I don't want to go through videos claiming to be Rome and being tel aviv or Abu dhabi...

Is that what's going on? How annoying. I was watching one of those "Rome" videos yesterday and thinking it was a little TOO MUCH like Tel Aviv... Someone should start a thread that collects the best (and truthful) videos from the MDNA tour in each city. I can't...

  2. For some reason whenever I listen to this song the cover of the Deluxe Version pops in in my head. :dazed:

I think that's why it's so many people's favorite... the song came "illustrated" by that psychedelic art cover - or the art cover perfectly fits the song. The song should've been the title track - MDNA! Or perhaps the opening of the CD. It feels like the thing that holds the concept together.

  3. This titcase is pure rocknroll. Cant wait whats in store next.

Honestly I don't give a fuck what the press/general public think of Madonna's "antics". She's the Queen of Shock & Rebellion and I loves it! I live for her obscene behavior and I love me some controversial Nonni. Flash that tit grandma, FLASH THAT TIT!

    Brilliant!!

  4. That happens all the time here. People don't want to look 'negative' so they say everything is great. It's only after an event that you find people give their true opinion. It will be the same with the tour - everything is wonderful now but once it's gone, people will start voicing which bits they didn't like so much.

I was disappointed with GMAYL demo but the songs grown on me although I still think it shouldn't have been on the album.

Your interpretation of the the changes in opinion is interesting and possibly valid - I was more leaning towards people expressing their TRUE opinion first, and then simply giving up on defending it (particularly with a silly song such as this - as fun or enjoyable as I may think it is, I'm not going to sit here and argue it's a better first single than Hung Up, Music, Frozen).

As for your second point, totally! A fun SuperBowl anthem, tucked in the Deluxe Album as a bonus track, would've been great. The problem is that this clashes with those that think MDNA should've been available the day after the SuperBowl. I actually think it should've been pushed further back to allow for more promo and planning. It should've been released, say, around this time or a month ago...

    Anyway, off topic!

  5. Going back to these threads to find people's initial reactions to this cute song... Opinions seem to have been divided since the beginning, but it's a bit sad to see so many positive responses then and so few after.

In any case: the demo is better if only because the L-U-V chant sounds more like a war cry instead of a cheerleading chant. Of course, because Madonna is singing it and knows a thing or two about vocal tones. With M.I.A. and Nicki in the mix, I can't understand why they didn't keep it that way. In hindsight, I think this would've placated the stupid comparisons to Micky and Hollaback Girl. She and her team can be so careless, sometimes.

  6. My god, i'd love to see them make out!!!

    Just make out?!!! lol

Much better than Jesus. I mean, Jesus' body was awesome, but Brahim is more like a cute bad boy instead of a dumb gladiator. And if we had to bet who's better "equipped," well... haha.

  7. nice to see the video and remixes being released concurrently. the three Smirnoff remixes, for which i paid for, were terrible. i deleted them, that's how ripped off i felt.

maybe they are taking this break to REHEARSE and BRAINSTORM, and the next break to shoot. Now that would be something! ;)

  8. I disagree. People didn't pay attention because outside her fanbase, nobody knew Madonna still existed released a new album + new songs.

I find that hard to believe. GMAYL has over 40 million views on YouTube - and the SuperBowl, where she performed that song, was seen by hundreds of millions of people (including the youngsters that then saw it on YouTube - I believe between a previous video that was taken down and the one that's there now it's amassed close to 20m views). They eyeballs were there. The song was available two days before the big event. And it WAS bought. It's not like no one bought it. It was on Itunes Top 10 the first three or four weeks.

GGW has also been seen millions of times. And now the tour.

Surely that could've gotten her enough sustained attention and more opportunities... IF PEOPLE had even moderately supported the songs.

Of course, it's more complex than this, and the promo theory has a lot of good merits - and I believe it could've made the record even more successful. But the truth is that ultimately it's all about people's perceptions. Absolutely everyone knows Madonna. Everyone has an opinion about her. And people buy things based on how they feel about them, not always on how good they are. This is why someone like Justin Beiber or the Jonas Brothers or Taylor Swift sell records in spades, why people are willing to pay $500 for an iPhone when they can barely make rent, etc.

What's worse - I live in an area where everyone watched the SuperBowl and everyone watched Madonna. 80% of people didn't like the new song. Fans didn't either. And there's your promo.

  9. That's why I'm so thankful she's doing Yankee stadium, two days apart and THEN coming back in November for MSG! I'm so thankful for that! Omg!

I was just totally bitching about that yesterday, lol. She's doing two shows in San Jose but the audience in the Bay Area is old and rich people - and when you come from Latin America, it really shows. I'm considering having to fly to Vegas or Denver or somewhere when she plays during a weekend - so I don't have to take time off work.

And of course then I see all these FREAKING NYC DATES, spread MONTHS APART, and I am soooo envious. Enjoy it!!!

  10. So, after 2+ months, I'm feeling a little tired of it, but it's because it's THE ONLY THING that I've been listening to.

About 2 weeks ago I got a bunch of new music in my iPod, and it's been nice to listen to something else for a change, but afer a few songs, I feel like I'm starting to miss MDNA and I have to play it from begining to end haha.

  11. Let's consider this - which I understand is a very hard thing for a fan to do:

Maybe it's for the best for Madonna to appear very little in this video. We tried putting her front and center TWICE now, and once with a good and perfectly timely song (Girl Gone Wild): the first time she appeared as a cute and quirky MILF, the second time she appeared as a complete youthful vixen C*NT. We ate it up - the world didn't. Or they will in 20 years, as usual - when it's too late.

In any case. Now we're hoping to save the era, because it deserves it. And this time we have the best pop song on the record (POP in the sense that it has wide mass appeal) and once again we're gonna have her looking young and flawless and amazing? It seems that it won't work for "people" in 2012. And that's okay - it might work next year with another album. If she doesn't get fed up and retire from making records.

Back to my original point - perhaps it's time to take Madonna out of the picture (quite literally) and let the song do the work. GMAYL and GGW were not musically nor lyrically interesting enough to stand on their own - the videos and Madge gave them gravitas, drama, life. People didn't pay attention to them - not enough to support it with their pockets, anyway. I think it's because Madonna is all over them: young people don't want to identify with an aging person, and older people (defeated and boring) can't connect to her youthful and punk persona. Again, WE love it - she's more alone and in a way more punk than ever before. But WE are clearly not enough.

This time it can be different - the song tells a story and structurally it actually goes somewhere, despite what some lovely forum members say! ;)

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just want this song to do really well - have loved it since I heard the demo. I really freaking hope next time (if there is a next time) she doesn't go this pop again. It's just not worth it.
