  1. I'll never forget that video of Madonna I think in Coimbra where she let out that sob with that look on her face of absolute heartbreak at the end of Like A Virgin. That's the most vulnerable I have ever seen her.

The way the audience collectively and audibly gasps is incredible, they are completely in shock that she has just shed real tears on stage. I would love to know what it is that upset her so much that night.

I'm so in love with this woman all over again right now. It took the tour to hit North America for me to finally feel like we were in a real era and that she was finally, emotionally and passionately invested in it. I wasn't totally sure or won over for a while there as happy as I was with everything, something just seemed amiss to me. I kind of felt after she cancelled OZ and then seeing the sad and exhausted look behind her eyes in that Rome interview that she really was just marking days off the calendar until it was all over.

Now I feel like she is creating art and pop culture every single night, like she used to and I'm just such a happy and proud fan this era. Fuck the sales of MDNA, it's my favourite record and this is by far my favourite tour and Superbowl is the best thing she has done in her entire career and it all happened in one year, one amazing year where she proved herself and retained her crown. She looks happy, she looks beautiful, she's making amazing music and has been all over the media all year. it's been one hell of a ride.

  2. That hairstyle and the poof is what will spring to mind in years to come when someone brings up the MDNA Tour in person, it has to stay. We get the hair down during the last segment.

Just like the conical bra is the first thing that comes to mind when Blond Ambition is mentioned or the dyke hairdo for The Girlie Show.

  3. Wow, there are so many little changes here and there, those are the best vids I have seen so far. The show is really tight now and she is absolutely spot on. She seems so much more into it now and so much more comfortable with the show. Love the bit in GMAYL when she mouths "I'm the shit!'

The looks on the people's faces in the crowd behind her during I Don't Give A is amazing, there is a lot of love going on in there for her, you can see that people are really into it.

Lastly she looks amazing, absolutely incredible.

  4. I wished she had just done the entire album with Orbit and scrapped the Solveig tracks except for Turn Up the Radio and I Don't Give A or relegated the whole lot to the bonus disc.

William orbit out of sheer love and respect for Madonna would have just helmed the project if she were so hard up for time and kept quiet about it. It would have been a labour of love for him, he is one talented guy. I love his work with Madonna.

We would never have known the extent of her involvement or lack of if it, had just been him producing.

  5. Glad that fur is gone during the Basque section, she looks so much hotter without it.

Loved it in Tel Aviv when she just went bare shouldered, that dress is too edgy to be dressed down like that without a fur.

Kinda reminds me of that black Versace corset dress she wore on Letterman in 95 and for one of those Bedtime Stories promo shows in Europe.

  6. I love this album so much and it wasn't one of those Madonna records that I loved but still needed time to grow on me. Even Ray of Light needed time to be digested as I just wasn't quite sure how to take it. I remember being really confused and saying to a mate 'It just sounds like a remix album to me,' and he had to assure me that it was great and I was the bigger Madonna fan of the two and still needed reasurance. When I first heard MDNA it was like love at first sight and then falling in love. Gang Bang just floored me (what a fucking beat), Im Addicted knocked me absolutely flat (like your first drug experience), Turn Up The Radio was an absolute classis on first listen and then Love Spent is seriously one of the highlights of her entire 30 year career to me. Someone put it best when they said she takes that song to the heavens when it switches into the 'Love spent, yeah I'm love spent wondering where it all went' part kicks in. Some Girls got the most spins initially and is still a favourite, that beat just crunches and bull dozes everything in it's wake, what a stomper if ever there was one. Falling Free broke my heart and moved me in the same way that Drowned World/Subsistute For Love did in 1998 and Girl Gone Wild has turned out to be the song that I turn to again and again and again, especially after that incredible opening on the tour. It's true that there is a bit of filler on it, I don't care much for Superstar and feel I Fucked Up should be in it's place and I Don't Give A never really resonated with me either and even though I don't really like Beautiful Killer, that song could easily take it's place on the record. To me it's a perfect pop record and it's very NOW and we need to remind ourselves that we were missing the old Madonna spunk and attitude and she brough it back with gusto this time around and then did so again on tour.

    Madonna we have missed you

  7. I couldn't be happier with this era. We got Superbowl, simply the best and most entertaining thing she has ever done. It was staged immaculately, she was dressed incredibly and it proved all the critics wrong also. We also got a top 10 single out of it. In January we got some great television interviews like Graham Norton, Anderson Cooper, Cynthia McFaddon and Jay Leno. MDNA was a fantastic album and a true return to form that came with great album and single artwork as well. The GGW video was absolutely stunning and we got to see her dance again in a video with a troupe of dancers behind her and last but not least, the best tour she has ever done! Tightly choreographed, sexy, daring, controversial and sold out all over the world!

Who cares about the general public, that shouldn't affect how you feel about this era.

  8. Wow! I really enjoyed that. Turn Up the Radio is nowhere near as bad as some have said and that speech is exactly as bad as everyone has said, and then some. I love you Madonna but no one wants to hear you preach like that. She also talks in this funny little Madonna accent when she is being egotistical and talking out her ass like this. Has anyone else ever noticed that??? You can tell she is loving the sound of her own voice here :)

My other thoughts... Vogue is fucking spectacular! The editing is amazing, so much so that you can forgive the exclusion of the first 'Strike a Pose'. The staging, sets and use of screens is really very classy and it's very well done. It's not my favourite Vogue, definately a hard act to follow after GS, ReInvention and Superbowl and its weird not seeing the action on the stage match the sound effects like the harpist during Superbowl who pops out behind her as she strums it for example, one of my favourite little moments from SB but atleast they kept it real and in sync at the end of the number where she twists the dancer's leg in time with the bells.

Candy Shop is out of this world and seeing it in this unique persepctive in such a small venue really brings out how Girlie Show it all is without it seeming like she is repeating herself. It's more of an update than a rehash and some moments are very Bye Bye Baby, makes you feel all nostalgic for the good old days. Her vocals however are terrible, this can't be denied. She sounds very thin, it's amazing the musical director aloud this to happen for this number. Why all the backing track and heavy use of backing vocalists on other tracks and then not this one??? In her defence it is clear to anyone that she is working extremely hard here and is obviously puffed still from the Vogue routine.

Beautiful Killer/Die Another Day is epic and now that I have seen it, it should really replace Revolver on the tour (just my opinion) and seeing as it's pretty much the same choreography, why the hell not? It would blow the roof off! The gun choro is tiresome and boring in the context of Reolver on the tour but paired with BK/DAD in this way it doesn't seem so obvious and silly. Really, really well done! The french song is amazing also, I don't know the name off by heart. I noticed that Kylie also used this song for her Money Can't Buy show in '03 and mashed it up with Breathe.

All in all and this is by no means a negative, this is the first time ive ever noticed her age. Maybe it's not so obvious in a stadium and with all the embellishments of a tour DVD but up close and personal it's obvious that she has aged and is doing her absolute best to put on a damn good show. I'm hoping next tour she slows things down a little, she really has nothing to prove to anyone anymore, perhaps she is just in constant competition with herself and has a very strong desire to be exceptional at what she does and hats off to her, she's amazing but she doesn't need to kill herself on stage anymore for us. We will still lover her.

  9. Remember Guy flew over in the middle of the furore to try and save the relationship? I think his father came out and admitted that, that trip was his last ditch effort to save his marriage and she was having none of it. We got all those photos of the pair of them looking utterly miserable in each others company going out to dinner and walking with the kids. Her appearance at the time spoke volumes, she just didnt care anymore, she looked scruffy and exhausted. She was also in the thick of sticky and sweet rehearsals and we soon after got that infamous pick of her outside of the Kabbalah centre almost skeletal with those massive cheeks and she just looked incredibly exhausted.

That was a very interesting time to be a fan i must admit but she did look as though she was about to have a nervous breakdown.

  10. What a total load of fucking bollocks! Still learning?

PUHLEASE, Madonna used to be the queen of self promotion and Guy O has been on the ride with her since 1993, I'm sure the two of them know how to promote a record. It's plain to anyone that they placed all their bets on Superbowl generating enough interest and excitement in her to kill three birds with one stone, the lead single, the album and the tour, and it worked....for two weeks!

We as fans have to understand with the benefit of hindsight that she at that time was facing the prospect of the next 12 months rehearsing and then touring a major stage show and I assume she wanted to spend as much time with her family as possible and to to the detriment of her record, she even admitted it.

What does suck is what someone said above, they did not have the backing of a traditional promotional blitz that a record company can comandeer and that is really sad. This album had so much potential, just like Hard Candy and they dropped the ball with it. I just don't understand why a major label like Interscope who has the biggest pop star on the planet on their books can just fuck everything up the way they did. That is what I want answers about!

  11. Something is changing in her during the course of this tour. She doesn't seem to car too much anymore when tings dont go to plan on stage and is just laughing off stuff that in her heyday would have caused earthquakes backstage.

  12. If it's money, how much more money does she fucking need? I mean seriously!

If they were worried about ticket prices I think its pretty obvious we would have paid pretty much anything to see her.

    What is her deal???

Today has been a pretty rough day, only because Ive been a fan for 25 years and have waited patiently for 25 years to see her. It feels like she has been part of our lives so it does feel like a huge slap in the face and it does feel personal, like she doesn't give a shit.

To add insult to injury I never imagined in a million years that she would ever come to Perth, I always thought Id have to fly to Melbourne or Sydney but to read confirmation that she was actually booked for two shows in my hometown was a pretty unbearable thought. Not only was I going to see her but I could have seen her twice.

If she does come here for a second leg I'd be pretty sure it will never be as big or as profitable as it could have been if she had come here in January. Now in just one day there has been such a bad reaction and so much terrible press that Madonna's name is shit here, she is a national joke to our country now.

Australian's are a different breed of people, we don't take too kindly to this kind of treatment, it's just the way we are and I worry her career will never be the same here. It's going to have a huge knock on effect in that radio will boycott her, fans will boycott her and DJ's will boycott her.

What a sad, sad day to be an Aussie fan and to anyone who criticises us for our reactions - you are just as sad. You have no idea how it feels. Its not life changing but its certainly very bad news for people who have hung in for so long and spent so much of their hard earned money on someone who clearly doesn't give a shit.

There has to be a very good reason for this, there just has to be. I can't quite believe it, its surreal.

  13. I fucking love the Hung Up remix and the screens and choro is just amazing, you have to think about it in context of the section and not on it's individual merit.

Would have loved to have seen PDP played in full or atleast a little longer, its justm too effective and spine tingling when that orchestra riff fills the stadium. If anything in that section needs to be trimmed it's I Don't Give A, just feels a little indulgent.

My personal opinions is that she could have ended Hung Up rising up on the platform in front of the cross in that iconic moment that we all love so much and just skipped IDGA all together.

    Just my opinion.
