  1. Has she got hair extensions in?

She could easily pass for Anne Hathaway's sister in that pic even though she's probably her mum's age or close to.

I just can't believe the change in her. Do you think someone maybe filled her in on all the bad press her 'work' has been getting over the last few weeks? Someone must have said something or maybe she read her Instagram or Facebook comments.

The face is perfect, absolutely perfect.

Please Madonna just leave it the way it is now PLEASE!

  2. For an appearance that has caused so much backlash she has ended up the moat talked about artist of the entire evening and she didn't even win anything. The world may hate her once again but it would be lost without her and very, very boring.

And while I'm at it could those of you who keep referring to her as the next Cher or calling these the 'Cher years' please stop. Cher's wishes she was even half as trendy or iconic as our M.

  3. Are we 100 % sure she is this consumed with top 40 radio success as everyone thinks? I think it's always been important for her to be commercial to an extent but some of you would really have us believe that it's the be all and end all for her. I've always thought to myself is commercial or radio success were that damn important to her, she would promote her work properly, but she refuses. Get her on the film promo bandwagon and she will work tirelessly, efortlessly criss crossing the globe getting the word out for little to no return yet she wont sit in a junket for a day or two in a relaxed and controlled environment and do a few TV and print magazines for a product that the when done right, usually smashes each and every time.

At the end of the day she has never said as such about commercial importance and for the majority of her career she has never seemed to be all that cared with radio chart placings and always took gambles with first singles. For example lead off singles such as Live to Tell, Justify My Love, Erotica, Frozen, Music, American Life and subsequent single choices like Oh Father, Bedtime Story, Human Nature, Bad Girl, Ray of Light etc, big budgeted videos with famous co stars, special effects etc. Then there have been the big spin off movie songs like Vogue, TUTBMP, I'll Remember, Beautiful Stranger, American Pie, Die Another Day, all big, big hits, catchy but certainly not geared specifically towards top 40 radio.

I would be more inclined to say that Madonna has had a lot of success buy taking a lot of risks and hoping her large profile and fan base will lead the song to catch on, only rarely it hasn't in those once in a decade moments when she totally gets it wrong but overall she's a very commercial, uncommercial artist.

I remember being very young, around 6-7 at the time of Blond Ambition and thinking to myself how unlike anyone else Madonna was. She had this huge, epic all conquering popularity with this huge Michael Jackson sized cultural impact on society yet she was so different to all the other girls. She was extremely provocative and out there, stunningly attractive yet not beautiful and was blessed in the way that men wanted to sleep with her, gay's wanted to emulate her and women wanted to be her. Her pull covered all bases, I remember all the way up to about 93 she was huge with the kiddies as well, before she lost a massive proportion of her audience with SEX and Erotica.

I think there was a definite tangible switch in her, post American Life. It's obvious that that album's lack of success affected her as did the criticism and I think she was hurt by it. 2003 also marked the time I first ever noticed she had a shy, self conscious side, something which was not apparent during the Sex backlash but was painfully obvious post Swept Away and American Life. It was also the time I believe she started having treatments on her face, she began showing up to events looking better and better.

I digressed a little but it's a point I've always wanted to make.

  4. Madonna was considered very risque and controversial even back in 1987.

The Open Your Heart video solidified her position as a sex symbol and there was quite an outcry and a lot of criticism directed her way when that video came out. Bear in mind no one had ever done anything like that before so she was busting down barriers even back then, way before SEX and Erotica.

I believe that's what Suzanne is referring too. There was a lot of jealousy and resentment at the time from other female artists because of Madonna's huge popularity.

  5. It's one of my all time best Madonna songs up there with Vogue and Bedtime Story.

Love her vocals, love the lyrics but was dissapointed with the acoustic live version. I would have preferred the album version with all the amazing production and effects on her voice. She could have sit on a stool or even the piano so she could deliver some good vocals and concentrate on her breathing to hit the high notes like You Must Love Me from S&S.

  6. I think DWT was all just for the show and keeping in character just like Transgression on MDNA. If you look at her life in '01 she was newly married, a new mother and enjoying a major winning streak in terms of her career so I don't believe she was angry but that's just my perception.

She doesn't come across as angry now but incredibly aloof and entitled and I first noticed it at the Grammy's. It was the wrong forum for her to stomp out on stage sour faced Blond Ambition style. She really could have been a little more humble like the way she stepped out for Live 8, beaming, smiling and ready to make a difference and most importantly dressed appropriately for the cause she was lending her star power too. On the red carpet she seemed pissed off and detached like she didn't want to be there.

I really don't understand why she felt the need t act like a diva. She generally comes across as very likable and down to earth but she seems very 1993/1994 right now in her mannerisms and we all know why she was behaving that way as she was experiencing a major backlash at the time. Maybe that's our answer right there. The 'N' word backlash came straight after the Rocco/alcohol controversy. Maybe she is actually aware of the bad press she's been getting and she's just pissed about it all but that does go against her usual 'fuck it' attitude.

  7. TIC is an absolute landmark of an album and came at a very special time in her career. Everything about it is perfect and the Q Sound production sounded amazing on big speakers at the time. The hits are just relentless, one after the other and also smartly hinted at her future direction.

Celebration for me is just deal breaker but it has it's highlights. Personally I'm a big fan of Celebration (the single) and even though the album version of Revolver is shit, we got the brilliant Guetta remix of it and a great maxi single. They also won a Grammy for that remix and deservedly so. Celebration also gave us Who's That Girl FINALLY on CD and it sounded fantastic in all it's glory.

The low points for me are s massive let down. The WTF Dress You Up intro, the Erotica fuck up, the fart noise at the start of Express Yourself that makes me jump out of my seat in fright every time it comes on my IPod. Miles Away shouldn't have been there (should have been I'll Remember) and where the fuck is Deeper and Deeper, one of her best dance songs ever. I adore Hollywood immensely but it wasn't a necessary inclusion for me, especially when the likes of DAD, You'll See and Sorry are left off. Lastly I could have probably forgiven most of this if the record had come in chronological order. It would have perfectly shown her growth as an artist and ended on a high with some of her biggest ever hits to bookend it Music, Don't Tell Me, Hung Up and 4 Minuts with Celebration to end it nicely. Lastly they could have put a photoshoot in the booklet. It didn't even have to be a new one just like TIC but a couple of unused shots from a recent shoot would have been lovely.

    * Forgot to mention the album starts incredibly well with smash hit after smash, Vogue, Hung Up, Music, Vogue, 4 Minutes and Holiday before the oldies kick in.

  8. I'm so disappointed in the negative reaction from a good majority of people. Guys we know enough about Madonna to know what her process is. She likes to work with a few producers/DJ's and only very rarely works with just the one partner. I personally would like her to stick with just the one like she did on ROL and Confessions as they are my favorite records of hers. She will probably definately put together a group of people to work with and has a wish list. She might either work with a few on the record and just pick the best tracks or she might discover something special that she likes in one of her collaborators and scrap the album and take it in a new direction, like she has a few times or she may work with just two collaborators to keep the sound consistent like Erotica and Music. Look how well they turned out.

Guys it's FAR too early to start complaining, give the woman the benefit of the doubt PLEASE. it's going to be a LONG year if some of you are going to starting bitching from the get go. Let Madonna make the album that SHE wants to make. Please dont dictate her next career decision and then turn on her because it doesn't suit your personal taste. You should all by now know that Madonna does what Madonna wants and she's not about to change now. Avicci doesn't excite me much either but who's to say it's even for her album, it could be his. It could even just be a remix for another proect.

Deal with it! Enjoy the ride!
