  1. I'm not a fan of Avicii either but come on guys you all know better than to fill up 10 pages of this forum with negativity when she probably hasn't even sung a note yet. I mean seriously, you lot should know that Madonna almost always works with more than one producer and writers. Have you guy's forgotten?

There is also the chance (and this has happened before) that she isn't happy with anything Avicci and her come up with and she scraps the whole lot and moves on. She may even just use just one song.

Everyone needs to chill, seriously. You guys should know better

  2. This is probably one of her best era's, totally full of fun and good vibes. She looked great and seemed really happy.

Does anyone know why we didn't get more singles from Music. Why did they stop at three when the album was so universally successful like Ray of Lught. I'm aware of the issues surrounding Amazing and Madonna wanting Impressive Instant but sabotage her own album just because she didnt get her own way with single choices?

  3. Love the dance break in the middle, it's absolutely fucking epic. I've tried for years to master it but have never been able to lol.

This is slightly different from the small snippet of Like a Prayer from the Paris footage that appears on Truth or Dare however.

The bit in the beginning where Carlton is holding her on her back whilst she sings 'It's like a dream, no end and no beginning,' is obviously a different night.

I think I remember Alek saying they filmed 3 nights from Paris for the movie.

God it pains me to know that this amazing show is just sitting there in the vaults. I mean what is the fucking problem here? It doesn't need any editing, just some artwork for the cover, a few pics from the show on the back, a set list, an action shot on the front of M in her JPG corset and there you go. Pull it out of the vaults, put the fucker on DVD and Blue Ray and it will sell like hotcakes. Fuck, sell it for a small fortune and we will still buy the bastard.

I just don't understand her reluctance to give us a BA and RT DVD/Blue Ray. Sure when the respective documentries were out they didn't want a tour dvd to compete with sales of the movies but it's been 20 years since BAT and 10 years since RT. What's the big deal? You may even get an increase in sales

of the doco's from the added interest in the release of the concerts.

WB could even go straight for our pockets like they did with the box sets a year or so again and give us a limited edition box set of all her tours.

What was the point last year in having someone remaster the Nice show, only to just drop the ball yet again? Why go to all that hassle when Paris is all edited and ready to go. I really thought WB would have given us some treats by now, considering how money hungry record companies are, why are they holding back so much?

  4. In a parallel universe there was a Like a Prayer World Tour, a Bedtime Stories World Tour and a Ray of Light World Tour.

In a parallel universe Madonna is in Chicago, Hello Suckers was released, Bedtime Stories was produced by Shep Pettibone and Forbidden Love, impressive Instant, Love Spent and I'm Addicted were singles. Rescue Me had a video.

  5. Candy Perfume Girl - fucking incredible, amazing etc etc. The first time we saw her with a guitar and it was an amazing addition to the show and very iconic, the staging, the choreography everything 10/10.

I Deserve It - exactly the same, well staged and executed. Iconic, iconic, iconic. Perfect accessory and addition to the song.

    Secret - Boring

La Isla Bonita - I'm divided on this. I miss the days where Madonna would stand at the front of the stage with just a mic, a stand and herself and just sing. I don't think she has done that since The Girlie Show. Actually she has, Frozen 2004, amazing and powerful vocals.

Material Girl/Burning Up - Awful, boring, uninspired but what else can you do with those songs if you can't be bothered performing them as a big production like the other oldies like Vogue, Hanky Panky, Holiday etc.

Nothing Fails - Yeah I'll give her this one but only just. I feel like this performance and Secret from 2001, the guitar just takes away from the lyrics of the song and is a distraction. These songs are too obviously 'take a breather' songs when as I mentioned above, Madonna standing alone on stage with a mi would come across 100 x better and allow people to take in the amazing lyrics and her showmanship.

Intervention/Mother and Father - absolutely motherfucking incredible. My jaw dropped the first time I saw this on DVD. Beautiful vocals.

Ray of Light '06 - boring but at least they tried to make something of the song by adding screens and dances. Probably would have come across better if you were actually in the audience.

I love NY - Amazing, loved it and still do. She gives her everything in this performance.

Paradise - WOW WOW WOW, up there with Intervention/Mother and Father. Beautiful reinvention

Human Nature - Um, I never know what to say about this one. The performance itself is OK, bit over done with all the faux rock star posturing but I really like the reinvention of the song itself. The only thing I don't like is the position of this song on the setlist. It's a momentum killer, swap it with Vogue and you have a seamlessly flowing act 1.

Borderline - Rubbish, horrible vocals. This one is just like Burning Up/Material Girl from ReInvention, there aren't a lot of options with these oldies bar turning them into guitar breather songs. Once again would have been 100 x more effective if she had just sung it to the fans at the end of the catwalk and used the nostalgia of the song to make the impact.

You Must Love Me - beautiful, perfectly done, not forced or boring like many of her other guitar songs.

Hung Up - I've always loved this, this rendition of the song really rocks on big speakers and I think it's really well done. No doubt the preference would have been to perform it as the pumping disco anthem that it is with all the dancers and some new choreography. DEspite the fact that I like it, I can admit that it's a lazy reinvention.

I Don't Give A - fantastic, love the screens, the darkness, Nicki's rap, the choreography etc, it's Human Nature's cousin for sure. This is how Madonna should perform her guitar songs, either stripped right back or brilliantly executed into an epicly staged high point in the show. Not lazy like Secret or Burning Up. Love how she lierally spits out the lyrics.

Turn Up The Radio - Same as above - PERFECT!

I'm a Sinner - Same as above - PERFECT! Love it! MDNA really is the tour to end all tours.

  6. She looks great here but why is she always wearing sunglasses inside all the time? She will show up to the Grammy's looking dreadfull for the whole world to see but then cover up her gorgous natural face when she's out and about.

Does anybody think she may be starting to get a little self conscious as she ages or do u think she's aware of what's going on in the media and on the Internet with the constant bashing of her age?

It's a cruel world we live in, I don't recall ever seeing a female celeb cop so much flack for aging even though she looks a good 10 years younger than she actually is, even on a bad day she's still miles ahead of any other 55 year old.

  7. Could we do a bit of a 2002 retrospective in this thread? It's an era I don't know terribly well nor do I have anything to contribute. I do recall the play, swept away, creating American Life. The tracksuits, the soy lattes, the beginning of the floral print dresses, living in London. What do u guys think?

  8. I don't mind who she works with as I'm very rarely dissapointed in Madonna. I mean the only times I've scratched my head were when I heard 'Hey You' or the odd time as a child when on first listen I had to force myself to like a M track because I was THAT obsessed. Back in the days before the internet I remember buying I'll Remember and Secret before hearing them or seeing the video's and being too young to appreciate them and kind of just played them over and over until they stuck or became hits and eventually they did. I remember having the Erotica and I'm Breathless tape's for months and months before I actually got down to listening to them, memorising all the words and making up routines for each song (as you do when your a little gayboy 7-8 year old)

What I would like is just an epic, BIG dance record that is an event to listen to, not just a run of the mill album that could be by anyone. Mix Ray of Light into Confessions and there you go, bring old and new together, something she does so well. I'd love to see her get an old producer in one room with a new producer and stick Madonna in the middle and see what they come up with.

  9. I still remember being a 10 year old and this coming on A Current Afffair in Perth as everyone was getting excited about the tour. The whole dinner table went completely silent as it always did when Madonna came on the TV and back in the 90's it was frequent. My parents hated her and rolled their eyes through the whole thing.

  10. Seeing as we have been on the subject of Pat Leonard

1: Didn't Madonna scrap the production that Leonard produced for his Ray of Light tracks and go with William Orbit to produce the whole record but obviously with input from Marius Devries and Pat Leonard on their respective tracks. I'm 100 % certain of this and I remember she was scared to tell Leonard in particular but her gut was telling her that she was making the right decision and she went ahead with the changes as the album would have had a LA Peter Gabriel vibe when she was more interested to go for a more electronica sound.

Well we all know now with the benefit of hindsight that she made the right decision. She swept the Grammy's amongst other awards show's and shifted almost 20 million copies of Ray of Light.

    2. My second point is and I am to this day, a little embarrassed that I don't know the answer to it or I do but just have forgotten. Where did I'll Remember come from??? Was it an EROTICA outtake ( and please don't just say No to this one because it doesn't deal with sexual matter of fact because neither did Rain and that still made the cut), was it just a random track from the vaults that when she was asked to contribute to the With Honors soundtrack, she remembered it and thought it would be perfect. There are also a couple of you out there who think she got together with Leonard specifically to write a track for the film and I'll Remember is the fruits of their labours.

  11. That guy clearly has no bloody idea what he's on about.

'Recent problems plague the material girl'

    'losing a bit of confidence'

    'motivate the ageing star'

WTF? This sounds like really bad, trashy tabloid writing.

His heart is in the right place obviously but he's way off the mark.

Maybe he's just a young junior reporter finding his feet and if that

were the case I could forgive him but Madonna is nobodies victim

and never will be and she may be ageing in terms of years gone

by but her head, heart and sexuality certainly isn't ageing or going

anywhere for that matter, she is more like the edgy and controversial

Madonna of the late 80's early 90's now than she ever has been.

Some might argue she looks even better now than she did back when

she had Blond Ambition. The MDNA Tour was a stunning return

to form after the playing it safe Ritchie years with the good old sexual

and taboo, boundary smashingt and controversy courting Madonna of

her heyday. She's still delighting fans, dividing critics and writers and

eliciting debate the world over with her work, her opinions and

frustrating for some, refusal to retire quietly and put away the fishnets

    and leotard.

I think Madonna is going to be around for quite a while yet.

  12. I think she was a superstar by 1985, a megastar by 1987 throughout 1989 and an ICON by 1990.

Throughout 1991 to 1993 she transcended into this pop culture phenomenon of the times where I feel she remained even throughout the backlash as she was no less discussed even though her record sales dropped for a short period of time.

By the end of 1994 she was once again a pop music heavy hitter and up there competing with the latest flavor of the months but it was the EVITA era that saw her fame change direction and start to head into the legendary stratosphere. By the time that film was released, her fame had come full circle again and she was back on top where she belonged and then remained for another half decade with Ray of Light, Music and The Drowned World Tour.

After the tough year that was 2003 I believe she officially became a legend the day she hit the stage for Live 8. Everything changed that day and she received this worldwide respect that continued on through Confessions.

Things have been similar to the early 90's ever since where she has retained her throne but is more culturally relevant and discussed to a phenomenal extent once again. Now she's just Madonna, she releases great pop tunes, embarks on record breaking tours and is just a figure of fascination and controversy more than ever before.

  13. I love her so much, feels like the tide might be starting to turn again as it no doubt usually does.

There's a lot of positivity around her again.

... And bollocks to that reporter who said she looked tired.

... And every time she wears that sticky and sweet hair she looks incredible. I think she may be too mature now for the long straight blonde hair, it ages her. She looked as good last night if not better than she did 10 years ago.
