Despite ZERO promotion for this single, it is still note-worthy that it appeared on the charts. If only there had been better strategies, the song would have lived up to it's name and became the Masterpiece that "would be impossible to move!"

After hitting # 111 in the UK last week before it's official single release (due to downloads alone and little airplay), Girl Gone Wild bubbles under the US Hot 100 once more at # 108. This is a positive sign and will $urely give Madonna another dance hit on the clubs proceeding GMAYL. Some more countries see GGW appreciate a bit on the charts which could have been caused by MDNA's global success. more at http://mymonumentalicons.blogspot.com/2012/04/madonna-girl-gone-wild-chart.html

After a week's worth of downloads, GIRL GONE WILD and GIVE ME ALL YOUR LUVIN' still figure higher than any of the MDNA tracks. Following behind are GANG BANG, MASTERPIECE and I DON'T GIVE A.... The rest of the other album tracks which were visible during the initial day/s of release no longer appear to have charted.

If this is used as a gauge for future release/s, Gang Bang is an (odd) favourite distantly followed by I Don't Give A... (since Masterpiece is already released as a single in the UK only).

Madonna’s 12th studio album, MDNA was released globally yesterday 26 March 2012 and after a full day’s worth of downloads, several iTunes album charts generated MDNA’s position at NO. 1 !

Based on the chart results, GIRL GONE WILD and GIVE ME ALL YOUR LUVIN’ figure higher than any of the MDNA tracks which supports the idea that they were “arguably” the most single-worthy from the lot. Following behind are GANG BANG, I DON’T GIVE A…, MASTERPIECE and BEAUTIFUL KILLER. Surprisingly, TURN UP THE RADIO never showed up despite it being a fan favourite.

  10. Looks like the official video just made a small or virtually no impact on the charts. :electropop: What with Interscope not yet releasing the official mixes and video on iTunes! How inept! Many fans want to download the video but just end up ripping youtube since it isn't available yet... :americanlife:

On a positive note, Girl Gone Wild will still debut once the charts from other countries get published nextweek. I wish it charts better on there. :madonna2:

Scenes from her past videos are lightly referenced: Erotica, Express Yourself, Vogue, Human Nature, Bad Girl, Celebration... just to name the most distinct ones. Black & White scenes, hunks, chains, smoke, and leather complete the sexually-charged qualities of the upbeat video. This is something only Madonna can pull off : Erotic & Artistic.

OMG! the teaser didn’t give the idea away! This is something only Madonna can pull off. Best of all she is dancing to a routine again! Now this is a twist of energy and homo-eroticism in an elegant video. It would have been better if she at least incorporated WOMEN just for the sake of “girls they just wanna have some fun” but then again, this is awesome still!

Madonna just keeps getting better and better…

  13. Uhm lady, breathe. I love the fact that she's doing this type of music and every type she's done thus far. I was simply saying that IMO this whole inserting lyrics and referencing past hits thing into every song gets a bit tired and cheesy.

For us Fans who have been with Madge since '86, these are cheesy and tiresome. But we need to understand that for Madge to succeed presently, she needs to win new younger fans against the much younger artistes to expand her fanbase as some of her ageing and aged fans have moved on from buying records to simply listen to youtube without bothering to purchase. Thus referencing becomes a flashback technique to remind old fans of her legacy and to direct new fans to WHO originated these ideas before. As you know, despite old videos of Madge scattered on youtube, young fans never bother looking them up. So if they happen to hear Girl Gone Wild and read the rants about it, they look up Madge's back catalogue out of curiosity. Most of them then become fans after discovering her pioneering achievements.
