Well, if she refuses to entertain the crowd, then maybe she should be prepared that her popularity would suffer. One of the reasons why she is the biggest selling female artist is the fact that she is one of the best performers and entertainers of all time, if not the best. She is not known for her political songs and they are not among her best selling singles (= people don't love her  for that). Maybe after almost 40 years she feels like she don't have to pander to Europeans (at ESC) and gays (at pride), but it has its price. At present it seems like Madame X would do better in USA, than EU and I feel like its a consequence of the ESC performance. If the Pride performance alienates the gays, I don't see the point.

However, I hope its a great performance and she surprises us all.

That's true. She's an entertainer. That's her job and she's always been good at it. But I do think she failed at Eurovision. I did not find that performance entertaining but I understand her reasonings for doing it. She was trying to make a statement and I feel like she will do the same at Pride.

I guess a single officially is a video, radio edit shipped to radio stations, remixes and concentrated performances. How GC was not the first single is beyond my comprehension with Faz in the Latin market as first single. So many bad decisions over the last 10 years have all had a small contribution to her current commercial status with album and singles sales.

I agree that the best songs on the recent albums have not been singles. It's strange and frustrating.

  3. I like it! I would happily have put in on the album instead of Batuka, Faz Gostoso or Bitch I'm Loca. Is it better than the demo? Not sure. It's been a while since I heard it but I remember thinking it was just ok and sounded too "Hard Candy" for the Rebel Heart album. I like the production here. There's a lot going on.

    It's not appropriation.

She worked with authentic musicians. They are on the album.

    She didn't take anything.

    Diffrent cultures are acknowledged.

Sorry if my post is a bit messy, but this guy ruined my day. 😂

Yes! The review acts like she has no cred for any culture at all. As if she robbed them or something. I don't get it.

  5. Didn't I hear something about her filming a video for a remix of "I Rise?" So, I'm thinking she would definitely perform that, especially since it was dedicated to the gay community. "God Control" is the next single, so I'm pretty sure she will do that as well. In term of older songs, I have no idea! Anything is possible.

  6. This is another example of why I hate reading Madonna reviews. It's never about the music. It's just filled with personal attacks, picking and choosing moments of the past as ammunition. This person seems to love to know everything about her and then trash her. I've noticed a few fans like that. They used to like her but continue to follow her anyway just to be super negative. It's really irresponsible for the editors of Pitchfork to have someone so completely biased against her review the album.

I really hate this whole "cultural appropriation" thing. Is she just supposed to sing about being an Italian girl who was raised in Michigan? Like she's literally not allowed to appreciate other cultures? WTF has society turned into? One of the main reasons why I love Madonna is how fascinated she is by art and culture and how it inspires her. I love seeing her influences. That's the whole point of who she is and what she does. It's been like that since the beginning. Why should she stop being who she is? This goes into the age thing too. Why must she start being someone else when she hits a certain age? I feel weep for humanity when I hear shit like that. lol
