Ok point taken. Maybe that is a bad example. My point is even M has said there were loads of times in her past she was provocative just from provocations sake. This time she’s delivering a commentary on a societal issue she cares about passionately.
Yes! I hate when people say she's always trying to be controversial and she does it just for attention. And yet her videos have all been pretty safe since the original American Life video. I feel like it's the right time to shake things up.

Bruce is HUGE at the moment in most Euro charts.
Bruce will beat her in UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway..maybe even Italy
They picked the wrong release week
I had no idea Europe gave a fuck about Bruce Springsteen. That's so bizarre.

I don't understand how you all like the look here but hate the Jump wig.
You can not compare this wig to Jump. Yeah, I'm not crazy about it but it's much better than that one. At least for me.

Uh, I hope not. That would be really stupid. She's already got it in a nightclub, I think that's all the reference the video needs.
Um, the first thing I thought of when I saw that clip was the Pulse nightclub shooting. It was the worst mass shooting in US history. How could it not be compared? But I don't think this is a bad thing. People need to wake up. People forgot it happened and nothing changed. More mass shoots have happened since and no gun laws have changed. I say BRING IT ON! Fox News will have a field day with this but they did with American Life too. Madonna herself compared the Madame X album to American Life and she is well aware of the avalanche of hate she got from the general public and media over that. She does not give a shit. She's be fine.

Madonna needs a duet with Bruce Springsteen to increase her album sales................ that was a joke by the way.

This thread is definitely not ill-intentioned though, the poster honestly wanted to start a civil discussion on this topic, the nasty replies are a bit uncalled-for
Not with a thread title like that!

She can't utter a word without rubbing people the wrong way nowadays, hope it's just a performance.
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Refusing to perform? She's rehearsing for the tour and performing at Pride. It's not like this era is over yet. There's plenty more to come.

I can name 3 or 4 songs that could been put on the Deluxe edition instead of Looking For Mercy.
-
It's a really special song. I've listening to it on repeat. I'm just in awe of it.

I find the hate for Future interesting. I don't remember people not liking that track when it was first revealed but maybe I missed that. lol

HUGE fan. One of those WTF situations where one of the gems is a bonus track.
Yes. This is Beautiful Killer territory. She leaves the best as bonuses. lol
Listened to this for the first time and as others have said, the vocals are very impressive! I'm overwhelmed with how epic this song is! It's very powerful!

This is a good track!
I just don't like her voice in the beginning of the song.
The grills strike again.

I'm surprised it's that high, her worst album by far. I still remember when my paper, The Philadelphia Inquirer, trashed AL and gave it a rare 1 star review
I would love to know what you consider to be her best.

The ending made me laugh. You can tell they had fun recording together but the track is just ok. Sounds like b-side material to me.

I can see this song doing well internationally but it's not for me, especially the cheesy breakdown at 2:20. My second least favorite after Batuka.

Does this sample La Vie En Rose? The beginning sounds so similar. Particularly the Grace Jones version
Yes! I noticed that too! As for the track itself, it may take a few more listens. It's just ok for me. But I think it's one of the best vocal deliveries on the album.

Batuka is my least favorite that I've heard so far. I feel like it goes on a bit too long. Maybe if it was a minute shorter.

It’s Body Shop on a small dose of steroids. And I totally love it!
I think that's the best description of the song! It's like Body Shop got a kick in the ass. It's very low key but builds up. I like the use of the choir at the end.

Yes! I agree with what others have said. It would have fit nicely on Erotica. The spoken word parts are great. She sounds exactly like she did on Erotica. I feel like this song would be a great mashup with Rescue Me on the tour.
-
I find it to be lyrically strong. It's a great message. The production is minimal but it works to put focus on the vocals.

This is a typical Madonna album experience for me so far. Some tracks I like right away, some sound better from repeated listening, some are like WTF! lol

I can understand why Medellin was chosen as the first single. It represents the album pretty well and is a nice introduction to the era. But I think God Control would have been a great 2nd single. Similar to how Frozen was the 1st single and ROL was the 2nd single. For me, Crave is not a bad song but it lays flat for me. Something more punchy like God Control would have been awesome. But with so many songs being released from this album, I don't think it matters as much for this particular album. Lots of different sounding tracks are being released and it shows the diversity of the album.

I'm now downloading my digital regular edition from Madonna.com that came with my t-shirt order. I will wait to hear the other tracks when my Deluxe Edition comes in the mail.

Yes. For me, I would have chosen "God Control" as the 1st single and "Looking For Mercy" as the 2 single but do those tracks really represent the album? Not so much. I think "Medellin" and "Crave," while not my favorites, represent the album as a whole much better than my favorites.
