“I’m Addicted” mentions MDNA and (/or?) MDMA repeatedly (alternating?) ... so I’d argue it’s a case of referring to a song, but not by its title. Kind of like naming the tour Sticky and Sweet — refers to Candy Shop without calling it directly by that title.

I meant that the reference to MDMA doesn’t match the EDM sounds on the album (or songs like Bday Song, Superstar...). A dirty electro EP produced by Mirwais would have fit better for a title like that.

Agree totally. Hate album titles named after an artist, although can excuse a debut album - just. Anything after that though seems lazy and arrogant.

Also don't like any artist using their own name in lyrics of songs.

Bitch I‘m Madonna is acceptable and iconic though

  3. I‘ve grown to like MDNA as an album name but in general I hate it when artists call their albums after their names (repeatedly), like „Whitney Houston“ & „Just Whitney“ or „Britney“ and „Britney Jean“. It’s stupid and lazy. We almost have the same situation with „Madonna“ and „MDNA“ although I do think the wink to MDMA is clever. Then again, the music on the album doesn’t match this reference at all. She did the text talk with GHV2 already and I didn’t like it back then either.

I would be absolutely fine if she calls her next album „Magic“. It’s a little uninspired and cheesy but it’s also memorable and punchy (as someone said already). I still think Killers would be a great album title as well but it’s hard to tell without knowing what the music will sound like.

"I Don't Search, I Find" is a famous quote by Picasso. It was a form of critique regarding the 'searching' artists. Picasso only knows how to work, can’t do anything else. He thought the great risk is producing for its own sake. That you must never force things. You just have to wait.

Interesting to learn about this Picasso connection.

Remember that nasty German artist who was contacted by Guy Oseary via Instagram? His pictures reminded me of Picasso, too, so maybe it’s going to be part of the theme. But I don’t know how this will all work out on the same album: Picasso, Portuguese music, African beats, African choir, children’s choir, Mirwais‘ Disco song...

Personally I don't want it because I don't like Maluma's music, but as a marketer, I would find that a clever move.

One could argue that it also looked clever on paper when she collaborated with Ricky Martin. Or Britney. Or Nicki Minaj. Or Justin. Or Miley. Or Taylor Swift. Or Kim Kardashian. Or Quevo. Most of the times it ended up being subpar and did nothing for her career which is why she should stay away from further duets or collaborations with the hottest acts right now.

Now if she wants to collaborate with Nakhane or Dino, that’s another story and I am excited to see how these collaborations could (will?) turn out.

She just started following Mike Dean on Instagram & he is in London, wonder if he is doing production again on the album? He co-produced Illuminati, Holy Water, S.E.X, Inside Out, Wash All Over Me & Autotune Baby on RH.

Wash All Over Me sounds like it was produced in my bathtub. Illuminati on the other hand is fabulously produced, so I‘m torn if his possible involvement is good or bad.

Well, I have been saying this for 18 years 🙂. I prefer RH and MDNA to Music/AL. But its all subjective I guess. Mirwais production seems cold, distant, unrelatable, monotone, without much depth. That's how I feel when I listen to the music he produced for M.

Yes it is very subjective. I disagree with everything you said and believe he is Madonna‘s most talented producer.
