  1. Love love love it. Thank god we got it as a b-side though.

It's funny, Don't Stop replaced Your Honesty because M thought it was too hip hop.

Frankly, I think the album would have been better if Honesty replaced Don't Stop and Let Down Your Guard replaced Id Rather Be Your Lover.

Yes, definitely. Don't Stop and I'd Rather Be Your Lover were always skip-worthy tracks for me and I agree that Honesty and Let Down are both much better and would have made the album more interesting for sure.

  2. Mer Girl is the perfect way to end the album BUT Has To Be is the superior song. So I would not choose the 14 track version as the better version of ROL but I would have placed Has To Be somewhere near the end (for example right before Mer Girl or replaced Little Star)...then it would have been perfect.

  3. Madonna just left a message on facebook:

"The best way to celebrate my birthday and life in general is to be grateful!!!!

And I have nothing but appreciation for all of my fans who have supported me through out the years. I feel your love and it inspires me! It keeps me going!!!.

Thank you for fighting the Revolution of love with Me! -Madonna"

such a classy lady! This 'inspires me and keeps me going'-bit makes me kind of excited.

  4. I am at an utter loss what should have been the lead-off single. In the UK, I'm Addicted would NOT have got airplay on Radio 1, 2 or commercial stations.

GMAYL got minimal airplay on commercial stations. Then everyone practically ignored TUTR and GGW.

Love Spent I think was the best chance at success in the UK. Pop enough for commercial radio and Radio 2 to embrace it.

The only other choice would have been Masterpiece. And while it's a nice ballad, it aint no Crazy or You or Rain.

Why not Beautiful Killer? It makes me kind of sad that so many fans (and even Madonna herself) underestimate this track. It's clearly one of the top 3 catchiest and most 'classic M sounding' songs on the album. A shame that the put it on the bonus disc and didn't perform it on tour. Something I will never understand.

  5. I don't think GMAYL is actually so bad, I just hate the chants and thats it, the instrumental is unreal

I know, it really isn't so bad. It's not in the same 'league' as Superstar for example even though I tend to put them in the same bin usually. But I like to compare it to most of her other legendary first singles and then I get frustrated because the expectations were so high - it was her first 'post'-Gaga album (sorry to mention it here) and Madonna was known for reinventing herself and pushing herself artistically and musically with each project (well with HC not so much but that's another story). I love the video for GMAYL but other than that, I just think it was the worst choice for a first single in her career and hence I wish this song never existed.

  6. Hmm I'm not sure it would have been a hit. It's one of the best songs on MDNA for sure but it wouldn't have worked for the Superbowl IMO.

In a parallel universe, the campaign would have been like this:

    - Masterpiece gets released in fall 2011 to promote W.E

    - Masterpiece receives a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination (because in a parallel universe, it would have been placed as the first song of the end credits to make it eligible for the Oscars)

    - Gang Bang gets released in January 2012 as the first official single off MDNA with a short movie directed by Tarantino

    - Madonna performs 4-5 CLASSIC hits at the Superbowl (GMAYL never existed)

    - Madonna performs a stripped down version of Love Spent at the Grammy Awards (the same performance she would later use for her legendary MDNA Tour)

    - Love Spent gets released as the second official single off MDNA in late March 2012 (Madonna decided to release the album version and the acoustic version to radios at the same time)

    - Beautiful Killer gets released as the third and last international single off MDNA in summer 2012. Huge hit!

That's it. No more singles. Turn Up The Radio, B-Day Song, GMAYL and Superstar never made the album. The only reductive song on the album would be Girl Gone Wild which would get a cult following at gay clubs all around the world.

 OK I should probably stop now. But sometimes it is so much fun to think what could have been...oh well..

  7. The Riversi shot works beautifully for the 12" maxi single, because of the colour effect when you move it. It's simply STUNNING

This has always been my favorite Madonna cover - single or album. It is simply gorgeous, she looks like a Goddess! I always wondered why they didn't choose this as the cover for Bedtime Stories. While I like the one they used, it is not that special and is one of her weakest compared to her other great covers IMO.

  8. I kind of like the original Lucky Star album cover (also prefer the name 'Lucky Star' to 'Madonna' or 'The First Album') but the colors are hideous. Nothing beats the cover picture which was then eventually used though which is simply iconic. Funny thing is that we got a different cover picture for 'The First Album' in Europe and I got that when I was little and was shocked to find out that it's just an alternative cover picture when I was in my late teen years.

Now...let's talk about Black Madonna again please.

  9. What I didn't like about the NKM editing, is that they didn't show much of the IMPORTANT last part of the video when people start kissing each other! I mean, that's what the main message of the video is, make love not war, but they showed too much of the dancers and audience during these few seconds, so some people might miss it.

  10. I'd bet anything that Justin, Timbaland and Pharrell cost far more than Daft Punk would.

    I agree.

And as i already wrote, yes they produce some songs only. Or work separately (for example Thomas composed movie scores).

5-6 years ago they were working on the Tron Legacy Soundtrack. They have been constantly working, so this conversation could have happened during both release parties, HC and MDNA.

It's all speculation anyway and we will never know if they ever talked (M and Daft Punk) about working together. It would have been great 13 years ago, now I'm not sure anymore. I love them. but Mirwais had a similar sound, so M has basically been there...
