I recalled that Madame X got some pretty good reviews from critics, so I went back to check (thanks google!), your are right, most of the were downright awful! though at the time, I think I might have got them confused with the tour reviews, which were pretty good if I remember.

    Still, I love it.

Still, many reviews applauded that Madonna got her mojo back with this album while calling it bizarre

Didn't M have a manager? he should know about the trash they always throw to her, why they allow them to do that interview where they basically lick her feet and later they review Rebel Heart with 5 or 6. They hate her and always put >Beyonce albums over 10 ratings

    And Beyonce is forgettable shit

That's not cheesy.  You clearly missed the point. I guess you're not from the EU?

Everything about it is cheesy and camp, old flop artists are hired to compite in the contest, real artists avoiding to compite in it like plague and neigbour countries vote each other and Swedish shlager factory writers are writing the same song for each country

But it was fun once in a year until Madge gave the kiss of death :chuckle:

She could have burped and some people here would clap.

I don't know how she sounds in Madame X Tour but since the Rebel Heart Tour all her live performances have been so so. Purple Rain, Medellin and Eurovision. I can understand the knee problems but not the voice. She was vocally great during the Rebel Heart promotion. I do wonder.

Press praised the vox on MX

She was absolutely wrong with the songs choice. But on the other hand the message is SUBLIME.

If she had only known what is Eurovision about...

She probably didnt know it was a cheesy pride show for 1 billion people

    No heavy messages, pls

Hung Up wouldve been perfect choice, even miming was acceptable for the audience

I know right now many artists play the safe game and do not have the courage to take a political stance in a time like this and criticize or call out our governments, and Madonna is doing just that with Madame X, as she did on American Life. I've heard so many say, 'stop making it about politics!' but if the decisions made by our governments affects us, then of course we need to act, to speak up! Madame X demonstrates this, and that's why it's a such a powerful record. She could have kept doing Confessions over and over again, but I've always believed that she isn't just a pop star or performer, she's also an activist and it's very much apart of her work and uses her celebrity as a platform to say what she wants; she has a message. Not everyone is prepared to hear it.

Its a fine balance with commercialism and art and getting your voice heard

Yes, suddenly Madame X is hella prophetic! It flipped everything upside down for me when covid-19 happened. Suddenly it all made so much more sense. And her performance at Eurovision cannot be a mere coincidence. Even Kabbalah teaches there’s no such a thing as a coincidence. The word itself means two sides of one coin. Madonna knew something and still does! I’m listening to her ever so closely. There’s hope. “Everyone has a spark”.
