  1. I'd love to see Madonna perform "Celebration" on the MTV VMAs. It may help the song on the charts. However, the Madonna/Britney/Xtina kiss did not help "Hollywood".

thats because to the general public- M was viewed as being anti-american. Once the backlash from american life started there was nothing she could do but to go away for a while that could fix the situation.

  2. from pulse:

Here's how Hot 100 Airplay is shaping up before recurrents are removed w/ 4 days left:

    No. 10 - Mariah Carey (+3.1 million)

    No. 224 - Kelly Clarkson (+1.0 million)

    No. 734 - Madonna (+0.3 million)

so, if i calculated correctly it's BDS airplay should be at 3.1 million with 4 days left.

  3. Down to 29, I believe (and Whitney's song is down to 75). Madge will have higher sales, while Whitney will have higher airplay, so the two of these may debut pretty close to each other on the Hot 100.

WB should rush the video out ASAP, otherwise it's just gonna drop and drop (maybe it doesn't care, who knows).

    Down to #30 now...

I'm starting to think they (WBR) already knew that C would not do anything in the states. If you look at WBR track records they usually put a great deal of promo behind the first singles and as they release future singles their input gets smaller and smaller.... Maybe they decided that C would be a minor blip and decided instead to focus on promoting Revolver when the album is ready to drop. Maybe they thought C would be the Hot AC/Dance song and Revolver would be the one serviced to TOP 40 and Rhythmic...

C's only hope now is 1: airplay gains each day until it is picked up on more stations (not gonna happen), 2: the video is released and the song is given exposure on fuse, MTV and VH-1, and 3: WBR starts the promo for the album and releases the remixes.

On a side note, it will be interesting to see the actual sales fo celebration b/c IMO i think it is truly only the hardcore fans buying the song.

  4. they moved up the release? hm.

business wise it's a good move, but this probably will make it harder to have a high peak on the Hot 100.

top ten is looking less likely. oh well! it could still happen, who knows.

does anyone have the i tune feed link? Thanks in advance

  5. Why the hell everyone downloading from amazon NOW?

You should wait till next Tuesday (new week cycle) so that she can open with a bigger number.

well i just really wanted the song...dont worry i'm still gonna buy the remixes next tuesday from i-tunes, hopefully so will the rest of the people who bought the single version.

  6. GI2M did chart near the bottom of the Pop 100 when it was the active second single. It peaked in the 40s on Radio & Records' CHR/Pop chart- but Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 chart is 40 positions, and it didn't crack that or any other format chart other than Dance Airplay).

When digital sales were added to the Hot 100 mix in February 2005, the, sales divider was 5- meaning, if a track sold 15,000, that was divided by 5, to give it 3,000 chart points. (then, when digital sales really took off, it was changed back to 10), so "Sorry" benefited from that some. Its airplay peak was more than twice as large was GI2M- granted, that's a small number, but all that together helped.

thanks!!! i forgot about the 5/ 10 rule

  7. Well, there are all levels of hits, and it depends on the act we're discussing (different standards for them). I'd consider "Sorry" was a very minor hit- it stayed on the Hot 100 for six weeks, at least.

GI2M was more like a blip- in for a week, gone the next. It was a Hot 100 hit, obviously- but it appearance was so fleeting that it just didn't even feel like even a minor hit- especially as it didn't chart on any radio format chart other than Dance Radio Airplay. I mean, even "Hollywood" cracked Adult Top 40 (as did "Sorry"). Make sense?

i thought gi2m charted on pop 100 airplay( in the 70's or something), or was that just on mediabase. Also gi2m got some decent play on some sirius satelite stations.

why did sorry stay so long on the hot 100 compared to gi2m? was it just becasue the sales were higher for that time period?
