  1. so... EY/BTW mashup is true... so there had to be an agreement between MADONNA and LADY GAGA's camp right?

    No.

You don't need permission to perform and/or release a cover, neither from the original performer, nor from the songwriters.

Madonna would only have to 'clear' her use of "Born This Way" if her version included samples lifted off the original recording.

And she would need permission from the songwriters if she were to reprint any "Born This Way" lyrics, for instancr in an album booklet.

However, she will have to pay royalties to the songwriters (Lady Gaga and Jeppe Breum Larsen) every time she performs the song live and for every copy sold of the cd/dvd/bluray. Unless they have agreed on a one-off payment, that is.

  2. again: nobody is worried here because the stage is in the middle??? my tickets, which weren´t cheap, will be pure shit if they keep this set-up in europe!

As far as I know, the Ramat Gan Stadium uses this setup for all concerts...

  3. Madonnarama FB have just posted three video submissions for choreography/concept for Revulva, GMAYL and masterpiece. I'm not watching just incase it tarnishes the actual performances

Since he posted them on FB, I assume they were all rejected.

And his submitted GMAYL choreography uses the Party Rock Remix, while the tour uses the Just Blaze Remix.

  4. Gosh I wasn't even aware there was a war between all those other forums . Never Mind.I much prefer it here .

Anyway I have to hurl arse to Abu Dhabi on a 7 hour flight that will feels like 70 hours but I know my queen will be worth it !

Yup, the MadonnaTribe and DrownedMadonna admins were engaged in a personal feud for several years, and now that they have sorted out their problems, a new one between MadonnaTribe and the relaunched Madonnarama started.

As for the tour, the Danish show fits perfectly into my schedule. It will take place two days after my summer break starts - if she had come to Denmark any earlier, I would have had to miss the show, or travel to see it.

  5. In my opinion, "Some Girls" is the weakest song on the standard album.

The first time I heard the song, it sounded to me like a Britney Spears - weeks later, when I found out that it IS indeed a Britney reject, I wasn't surprised.

However, as others have mentioned, the song works much better when played in the album's original track order, between "I'm Addicted" and "I Don't Give A"

  6. I don't see anyone ever get silenced here, especially when mentioning another Madonna fansite, :giggle:

The MadonnaTribe admins have their reasons for not liking the Madonnarama admin, just as they have their reasons for not allowing illegal filesharing in their forum.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm actually quite pleased with the setlist. I'll be missing some of my all-time Madonna favourites, but there are so many other great songs in the setlist

  7. this

    that place is a trainwreck

The MadonnaTribe community as a whole is no more a trainwreck than this or any other Madonna-related forum.

Yes, there are discussions that go very much off-topic, and forum member who are negative about everything per se - but so is there everywhere else.

  8. Digitalfreaknyc in the MadonnaTribe forum confirmed that everything posted by m.d.n.a. is accurate, as expected, including the section names.

The only thing he disagrees with is the line mentioning that people who heard the final studio demos are very positive.

He heard them all himself, and he thinks that casual fans and average concert-goers will be very disappointed. Musically, he thinks that especially the first section is a mess, featuring 4 songs that most people won't know, a short teaser of "Papa Don't Preach" and an 'unrecognizable' mix of "Hung Up".

  9. I wonder if by the time she hits Australia she'll do some changes to the setlist?

Ray of Light instead of Turn Up The Radio

La Isla Bonita instead of Masterpiece

4 Minutes instead of Candy Shop

    Holiday instead of Celebration

IF she does any changes, I think she'll do what she did for S&S 2009 and replace an MDNA song with an oldie and change one or two other oldies, similar to what you're suggesting.

I think she would replace "I Don't Give A" with another guitar song, and she'd probably take out "Candy Shop" and maybe "Human Nature" or "Like a Virgin".

By replacing one guitar song with another, she doesn't have to learn any new choreography.

When the South American leg ends, Madonna will have performed CS and HN for more than 160 consecutive shows.

And as for "Like a Virgin", several people in the know have said that Madonna isn't completely satisfied with the new mix of "Like a Virgin".

  10. so.... STILL no Official setlist post???? the show is so soon! im shocked

We won't have any official confirmation until the opening show, but the setlist posted by m.d.n.a. is the real, as confirmed by the DrownedMadonna admin and several other people with inside sources.

  12.

i honestly dont know that blaze mix. i had no interest in downloading the mixes. i'll go check it out. thanks!

The mix included in the Smirnoff Nightlife Edition is the Just Blaze Bionic Dub.

I assume the tour performance is based on an unreleased full vocal mix.

  13. William Orbit on Facebook

    http://www.facebook.com/WilliamOrbit

I appreciate your analysis of the album release 'strategy' @Madonna Express Yourself. I wasn't involved in its formulation in any way myself. All I will say is that certain thoughts about it that I see expressed online by committed fans such as yourself, were blindingly obvious to me from the very get go, well before the release. But I'm no Jimmy Iovine, with the ability to advocate my convictions forcefully, and as co-producer, co-writer etc am aware that it is not in my 'job spec'.

But you won't see me exactly jumping up and down with delight over the way that things have panned out. We were very pushed for time, due to a rather interesting and shall we just say, 'traditional' method of recording that the esteemed engineer Demo was partial to, and various pressing commitments that took up the artists limited time, such as perfume ranges and teen fashion contests and other such endeavours which are beyond my own limited understanding of pop star agendas.

The recording sessions for the six songs I did were hugely enjoyable for all of us. M was on form and better than ever with her singing and writing and musicality, and was having a great time. We had songs lined up that were breathtaking. You'll hear some of them on Chris Brown's new album, and they are the best ones, Kreayshawn's (INCREDIBLE) new album, my own recently completed 'Strange Cargo' album. And some other surprising places. SNAPPED up by the artists concerned. Most of them, I believe, destined to become classics (let me know in a couple months wether you concur with that)

The team I assembled in NY for MDNA were, and are as good as it gets now. Writers and musicians and performers I picked because they take my breath away with their talent. And are totally of-the-moment in everything good that is going on in contemporary music at the moment. And usually hard to book because they are so in demand. And all of us fully committed to putting ourselves through extraordinary efforts to make MDNA the greatest album of the year.

But alas, the time wasn't there. Great swathes of it taken up by the engineer and his assistant bouncing reverb tracks for hour after hour, night after night. Not to real tape or anything, where you could posit that there would be an advantageous sonic dividend (real tape can be magic) but all in the digital domain. A purely procedural thing. Although not a procedure I or any of my own colleagues in this game would want to squander time with.

I was just describing to a friend of mine, and whom I frequently work with Serban Ghenea (just look him up if you want to be awed) how it was done, and he thought I was kidding him!

Over the years it's become obvious to me that along with Madonna being the greatest pop artist of ALL time, her fan base are also the most ardent, cohesive, discerning and loyal fan base of any artist. Not saying that to blow smoke, is quite obviously true. Big respect. And long life to us all. And as you look at things in a 'long term' way (my way also) you always call it like you see it. And I'm with you on that too. Be honest and true, speak your heart and mind, and let the dust fall where it will.

  14. i have a question: during Confessions Tour in how many songs she used Playback?

    Sorry and parts of Jump

In some shows also Future Lovers/I Feel Love and Erotica.

On the DVD, the first verse of Lucky Star sounds lipsynched, too, but I'm not sure how it sounded in the actual show.

  15. is it true she only sings 90 seconds of PDP and LAP?

    Papa Don't Preach: yes

Like a Prayer: As far as I know, she's doing the Super Bowl mix, but the whole song.

Is it just me, or was the Super Bowl mix of "Like a Prayer" somewhat similar to the Immaculate Collection version?

  16. I'm gonna have to ask for clarification on if she actually uses gaga's lyrics or if it's just the music. Anyway, it's such a Madonna thing for her to do. You use my song, then I'll use yours.

I think she'll sing a part of "Born This Way" over the music of "Express Yourself", to prove how similar the songs are...

  17. you can sing anything live but if you want it later on the DVD etc you need permission and to pay royalties.

As NobodyKnowsMe wrote, you only need permission if it's a direct sample lifted from the original recording, not if it's a cover or an interpolation of someone else's music. Apparently, that's why the Stardust sample in "Holiday" on the Drowned World Tour was edited out of the DVD release.

But she'll have to pay royalties no matter what.

  18. The original demo of "Bang Bang", sung by Priscilla Renea, was written mainly by Priscilla Renea herself, Jean Baptiste and Mika.

The demo was submitted to Madonna, who recorded her own version, with William Orbit slightly reworking Free School's original production.

The song was finished, but as revealed by William Orbit in the EPK, when they were about to listen to the final mix one last time before sending it to mastering, Demo Castellon plugged in his iPad and started playing an instrumental track. Feeling inspired, Madonna went straight back into the recording booth and started singing the "Bang Bang" lyrics to Demo's beat, basically improvising what we have come to know as "Gang Bang".

The final version was produced by The Demolition Crew, a production team lead by Demo Castellon.

  19. Very Mika and that's not a good thing to me with his sub-standard Freddie Mercury pop. I need to listen to it properly but the final version is superior. This is just quirky. I'm amazed that it leaked in the days post GMAYL. I wonder who the source is!

It was leaked by boytoynyc in the Madonnachile forum.
