What are you saying? Sorry, i dont understand ..

Madonna didn't perform during the first dress rehearsal of the final. We'll know in about an hour whether or not she performs in the on-going jury rehearsal.

Does Eurovision upload guest performances (like Madonna's) on an official youtube channel some time after the broadcast...or no?

Yes, they're usually uploaded to the official Eurovision YouTube channel immediately after the show.

Three hours and still not voting????? Is this going to be the longest edition of Eurovision?

And 40 minutes interval seems way too long!

The show is scheduled to last 4 hours, so yes it will be the longest Eurovision final ever.

    According to MadonnaTribe:

"Madonna will be the last interval act to perform in the Eurovision grand final tomorrow, she will take to the stage at the end of the 40-minute long interval before they start counting the votes".

So what time does that give us?

Based on a live blog from the first dress rehearsal, which took place a few hours ago, Madonna's act will start around midnight CEST (1 a.m. Israeli time), approx. 3 hours into the show.

  5. Madonna to perform new single 'Future' with Quavo at Eurovision 2019

International pop icon Madonna will perform 2 songs during the Grand Final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest on 18 May: Her 1989 smash hit 'Like A Prayer' and a world exclusive of brand-new single 'Future', which she will perform together with American rapper Quavo.

Viewers of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final will be the first to hear Madonna's track Future from her new album Madame X, to be released on 14 June. This year marks 30 years since the release of her iconic album Like a Prayer, and she will perform the title track accompanied by a 35-strong choir.

This will be the first time in the history of the contest that Madonna will grace the Eurovision stage, making the performance a once-in-a-lifetime treat for audiences all over the world. As one of the best-selling female artists in the world, selling more than 300 million records worldwide, her performance in Tel Aviv will be her third time visiting and performing in Israel.

Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest: "We are pleased to finally confirm that the incomparable music icon Madonna will join us at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Performing live during the biggest entertainment show in the world will be a special moment for everyone – not least the fans. The talent on display in the competition this year is phenomenal and I’m sure the artists will further be inspired by her incredible performance and staging. We know that it will be an evening to remember and can’t wait to share it with everyone watching."

Do we know at what time her performance starts?

We'll probably know on Friday after the first dress rehearsal, whether or not she takes part in the rehearsal.

But I'd expect it to start at 23:00 CEST at the earliest.

I've never seen Eurovision but that stage looks massive as well as the audience. Excited!!!:headbang:

This year's Eurovision stage is actually smaller than usual, and the venue is the smallest to host the contest in more than 15 years.

However, the stage is technically superior to anything I've seen on live television before.

This recap of the first semifinal shows how versatile the stage is:

Interesting, I didn't know that. I hope Madonna goes for this rule as well then. She sounded amazing at the Met imo😊

The rule applies only to competing performers. It's not uncommon for opening and interval acts at Eurovision to be lipsynched, though most sing live.

Aqua's interval act in 2001, for instance, was fully lipsynched.

I never knew that mic actually was on at the Super bowl. Which parts were live? Everyone has a bit of backing track at Eurovision

Nope. The competing entries are sung fully live, including backing vocals, though the backing vocalists are not required to be on screen.

Contestants and Artists shall perform the songs live on stage, accompanied by a recorded backing-track only (without live instruments). The Backing track shall contain no vocals of any kind or any vocal imitations aiming at replacing or assisting the live/original voice of the Contestant(s)

Do you think she will somehow directly mention the plight of the Palestinians like she did on the MDNA tour? I was wondering if a part of the contract negotiations was perhaps having to agree to avoid certain topics, etc. What if she went ahead and said something or did something anyway? She'd lose her booking fee perhaps but she'd definitely be talked about everywhere around the world and shut up the detractors. I just don't know what to think I don't really understand BDS entirely, I know it worked for south african apartheid and I'm super ignorant but the two situations aren't the same to me. Can anyone help educate me and think through this? I believe in Madonna the freedom fighter, and the artist who will NOT be shut up.

She won't be allowed to say or do anything that could be interpreted as promotion of any particular political agenda.

As for the BDS movement, it aims to promote several types of boycott against the Israeli state until Israel 1) ends its occupation of all territories recognized as Palestinian under international law, 2) recognizes the fundamental rights ethnically Palestinians with Israeli citizenship, and 3) respects the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their original homes.

Oh and does anyone else think that kind of performance will probably mean LIVE singing? :wow: This is the other thing I've been really hoping for, as it would be a bit odd for M to lip-sync after 2 hours of (mainly) live singing. Crossing my fingers!

I really hope that M will be singing live.

Dana International's interval act in semifinal 1 was fully lipsynched, and it was painful to watch because the lipsynching was so obvious.

    Netta or Dana?! 🤔

I'm down with everything, I just want to see her on that stage, break some ratings mama

It will be used for the opening of the final. It will most likely be the very first piece of music we hear when the show starts.

Ofra Gaza, who popularised the song, represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 1983, finishing 2nd.

This list also includes "Im Ninalu", which was used in the song Isaac from the Confessions album. Not sure if it's related to Madonna's performance or to a different performance.

It's rumoured that one of the other interval acts in the final will feature a snippet of "Im nin'alu" 🤓
