  1. It's so funny when ordinary people/general public talk about their expectations to their first Madonna show and how they think that she change the setlist city to city or only play the hits, just to please them like some artists do or so. Madonna's tours are like a movie or a book; there are sections, there are messages, ideas, sadness, joy. It's a trip from the opening number till the last song. And as director/writer don't change the storyline or the characters cuz the movie/book will be shown to someone new, so she doesn't. It's the person who have to get the art, not the opposite.

It's understandable that there are people who only want to hear the big hits and that they bought a ticket for it, and it's obvious that some will be part of the setlist. However, it's not Madonna's fault if the person buy a ticket and don't know how her tours work. It's her 9th one in a 30 years carrer, so a little research pre-concert can help.

Madonna feels that a not-so-known song works better in a section than a classic and she will choose it. Madonna's tired of some old songs and she won't play them. She's in love again with some others and will sing them. And she have new material to performe and she will.

  4. Some fans really take Madonna relevance for granted just because she's an icon and have been around for so long. It's a fact that she's part of History already, everybody meantions her as a role model, bla bla bla; but let's face it, she's not perfect and yes, she can do wrong and become irrelevant and boring. And she's been doing wrong a lot in the last years. It almost feels as if she gave up of making good music and is living at her catalogue. It's like she thinks that whatever she puts out there nowadays, people will buy cuz she's Madonna. Which may be true. Numbers will appear. But not quality.

Someone mentioned before that when ordinary people think about her name dance songs pop up in their minds, and that may be the consensus; but that doesn't mean that more serious songs equals flop. Live To Tell, Papa Don't Preach, Like a Prayer, TUTBMP, Rain, I'll Remember, Secret, Take A Bow, You'll See, DCFMA, etc, all were hits and are adult songs. But since 2003 what we're getting is Give Me All Your Love, Celebration, Revolver, So Cool, Hard Candy, Hey You, Confessions Of A Damage Control Album, American Life, Me Against The Music... it's been basically a decade of forgettable and embarassing stuff.

And to blame the current radio/tv for works like Hard Candy or Give Me All Your Love isn't fair. Crap songs always existed and have been around, but Madonna didn't go with the bad flow in the past, so why go now? From where did this obsession with another BB100 #1 and to be talked among young people came from? It's impossible that a smart woman like she don't see the lack of quality and soul of her last albums and that that is pushing her true fans away. How many more shitty songs about dance can she put out and until when (even Frozen had a damn danceable remix in S&STII)? And why to see Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry or Rihanna as inspirations to attrack fans and not Adele, Robyn or Florence Welch?

If this leaked GMAYL turns out to be the finalized track, she did become a parody of herself and maybe this is it.

  5. What slightly worries me is that I see a pattern from HC to the Celebration tracks to this of very lightweight tracks with no substance but also not substantial groove. They're all so airy fairy and fluffy, they're almost... KYLIE level. If you want to give dancefloor songs, at least give me BANGERS. This handsclaps and surf guitar shit doesn't cut it. If you want to be SEKSUAL, take a page out of Rihanna's book and go OH I CANT WAIT FOR YOU TO FUCK ME. Stop pussyfooting around. Take a chance. Enough with the forgettable, inconsequential tracks. Make a STATEMENT. And if it bombs, oh well. At least you went out swinging and not with a whimper.

My biggest issue is that she's spreading herself too thin to create anything with substance. Between W.E., the gyms, the MG clothing line, the other clothing line coming down the line and the fragrances it all feels like she's grasping at straws to remain in the public eye when in reality she's Madonna. She doesn't need any of this. She's already an icon and in my opinion all of these endeavors (bar films/directing as she's always had interest there) are making her look desperate for relevancy.

Couple that with a song, that while fun in theory, sounds like a Katy Perry leftover. I thought that the "let me appeal to the kids" schtick was over, but it seems like it's still in full swing. "L-U-V MADONNA!" coming from a woman who has penned some of the greatest pop songs EVER just doesn't sit right with me. Here's to hoping that William Orbit brings some maturity to the table.

I'm not quite ready to write her off any time soon, but she's not making it easy.

I think that age plays a very negative role in Madonna's career right now. Let's face it, she's been capable of LOADS of things and she may change the "traditional" path of the female pop/ rock star: gone after she is in ther forties. She's been struggling since American Life. Confessions was very BIG, but not in USA. Hard Candy sold very well, but something was a bit wrong there.... That's why she needs a BIG MADONNA SONG right now. She's been capable of releasing very good songs and it seems logical that she tries to give her best with this new album. That's why GMAYL isn't good enough, at least in the demo version.

  6. I love how she probably knows that everybody was expecting something like ROL or LAP and true to herself she decides the opposite.

So, we expect the best (LAP, ROL), Madonna give her worst (HC, Celebration, Revolver, GMAYl), and she's a genious for that? Seriously...

  7. Have you seen what US top40 radio is playing right now? They are whoring Moves Like Jagger (Disco-Pop), Someone Like You (Slow Piano Ballad), Pumped Up Kicks (Alternative Rock-Indie) and We Found Love (Electro-House-Dance Pop). Plus, We Found Love features Calvin Harris (British). US radio had never played a Calvin Harris song before.

Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB have totally died on the radio. Lil Wayne, Drake are being totally ignored! Jay-z and Kanye West released an alnum together and top40 radio didn't even care! Usher and Chris Brown had to release dance songs to score a hit. Even Minaj's songs have flopped hard except for Super Bass. She is too ghetto for top40 channels in mid sized and small markets.

Madonna does not need anyone. Her sound is HOT right now. It's not mid 2000s anymore. Z100, KIIS and most stations in big american cities have put in super power rotation even fucking ROMANIAN songs like Stereo Love, Mr Saxobeat! There's no way they would ignore a hot Madonna track without a featured artist.

6-8 years ago tons of songs that were hits in most parts of the world were totally ignored in America. It was not only Confessions. Even songs by hot young artists. Now you see that 99% of what's hot on the world chart and in Europe is a hit in the US too.

The Hip-Hop/Rap/R&B empire nightmare is over? Have we reached Utopia? Was this post for real?
