  1. Really digging the mellow vibes. But I don't understand why M has to sing the verses in that muffled style, some others mentioned it's very reminiscent of Ariana Grande and I have to agree :sneaky:

Clearly that comes down to Starrah's songwriting, but we know M could have the ability to deliver it in her own unique fashion.

fans were right to complain about the horrible Starrah, who really should only stick to making music for Rihanna like "singers".

    the Swae guy adds nothing.

    the instrumental is cute..

what I really miss.. the Portuguese musicians. where is the Portuguese or world vibe?

We need to the Mirwais songs. now.

I like Crave. Kinda sounds like a Miley Cyrus song (in a good way). It also reminds of me the American Life outtakes.

But where are the Portuguese influenced singles? So far no sign of it...:dazed:

Yes, I'm starting to wonder too. We're up to 3 songs now, with one of them having a strong Latin influence while the other two are very American sounding. Which is of course not a bad thing, I Rise is an excellent track and upon first listen Crave isn't too bad either.

But since M has frequently talked about being influenced by Portuguese music and drafting her record in Lisbon, the music doesn't really match it. Maybe there really was a change of directions somewhere down the road last year?

I don’t understand how more people aren’t wowed by the second chorus when she responds to herself with the throatier “I Rise.”  Such great production.

Also the finale is epic and gives me echoes of Mother and Father and Easy Ride.

Sorry if my analyses of the song becomes annoying.  I tend to be one of the wordier posters, but I like to dissect her songs so be prepared.  I really analyzed Messiah during the Rebel Heart era

Yes, I love that part as well. To me those layered vocals are a classic M trademark!

It's also funny how everyone references a different song -  IMO the chorus reminds me of the ethereal production on ROL (the album).

I have to stay I find her singing style / intonation in the verses a bit difficult to get used to, but the excellent production makes it all up. I admit I was (and still am lol) a bit worried about the tracks that were written with Starrah as the other stuff she's put out sounded way too disposable for my taste. But if it's of similar quality as I Rise, there won't be much to worry about

  4. Okay finally getting to hear the song in full! Was already mesmerized by that chorus when the first snippet was posted and yep, hearing it in high quality just reaffirms my feelings  :wow:

Wonderful melodic chorus that already feels like classic M. Also love the "I can't break down now, I can't take that" lines. The one thing I have to warm up a bit with are the verses, they fall a bit flat compared to the epic chorus IMO.

  5. Maybe I should clarify my earlier post. Generally I'm fine with M collaborating with other singers, however we just had M share her spotlight with a guest singer those past couple of weeks so, for a change, I would have preferred a solo song for the 2nd single. Especially keeping in mind M's track record of releasing "only" 3-max 4 singles the last couple of eras.

Definitely crossing my fingers we're getting a solo song next! Of course I'm still excited though for what she has in store with Crave, especially if it's going to be that rumored disco song we've been discussing for so long

  6. Okay I‘m on the train listening to the chorus again and I just gasped out loud! Couldn‘t contain my excitement

Now I have my seat neighbours staring at me :sneaky:

I would love to take out my headphones and blast this out so everyone gets to hear it!

  7. Okay here is a total freaky-ish post though but since M is talking about butterflies in her last post...has anyone else gotten super nervous before the RH era performances? Lol I don't know why, but I was a nervous wreck in the hours leading up to the Grammys and Brits performances :sneaky: I have no idea why -  there were some previous events where I felt similarly (Live Earth, Super Bowl), but during the RH era it was on a whole other level. Hope I'll be more calm this time around

Wow. It was the same for RH. Only France seemed to have cd promos! £170! Have to be careful as that will be bootlegged soon, I imagine.

Interesting that it's France only! Is there a reason behind that?

PS I found the 4:12 radio edit that's apparently used by UK radios...It comes up on this site once you've entered 'Madonna' down in the search bar.

    http://www.franchiserecordpool.com/welcome

It's a pretty sloppy edit though. They only chopped a few seconds off the verses, so the chorus still starts late around the 2:30 mark. Only thing that is cut is the "1, 2 cha cha cha" in the end as well as the very last pre-chorus ("Ven conmigo...")  - that cut sounds horribly amateur-ish! (at 3:27) I honestly think I could do a better job with my free Audacity software :sneaky:

It was on her Instagram feed when the single was first announced but can't remember which post

Supposedly playing it on radio 2. I think there's less Maluma from hearing it.

Not heard anything about remixes but they normally follow a couple of weeks or so after the main release.

    Thank you for the info!

By the way -  I have just found this on Discogs, supposedly a Promo Single from France that also contains a radio edit on it (with a different running time though). To the collectors out there, do we know if this is legit?

That's not what I said at all. Read my post.

Okay then care to explain what the racist white European thing is supposed to express? I don't think there are (many) people out there who would reject a Latin-pop performance out of cultural prejudice or similar reasons. However, what is true is that, despite the odd hit here and there, this genre simply hasn't caught on in most European music markets (yet) and a look at the different local charts will confirm that.

Of course she can still play the song if she wants to and I'm sure she would make a good performance out of it. However, I regard Eurovision as THE one-of-a kind opportunity for M to rekindle millions of people with her music. She won't be getting another chance like this in Europe in the near time.

So I absolutely do think the songs she's going to present should be chosen wisely - and I have my doubts a Reggaeton song with an unfamiliar artist would be the best choice under these circumstances.

  11. 19 minutes ago, Monsieur X said:

    A) By the time she does Eurovision most people will be aware of the song.

    B) As if Madame X cares about some racist white Europeans who expect her to sing some generic techno song. She'll do what she wants to do.

So people who haven‘t warmed up to Reggaeton / Latin music are all racist white Europeans, and M only has the choice between playing Medellín and „some generic techno song“? Okay.

  12. IMO Medellín would be quite out of place at Eurovision for 2 reasons --

    a) It's a slow burner, that needs repeated listens for the song to 'click' - for Eurovision it would be a better choice to roll out a more instantaneous song with a strong hook that people can directly connect to (if we're talking singles, something along the lines of HU or 4 Minutes)

and b) even though there were the odd successes of Despacito and the likes, Latin / Reggaeton songs are still far from popular in most of Europe. Similarly, Maluma is still a non-entity to most people (except maybe among the teens, but they aren't the typical groups that watch Eurovision). So again, I don't think Medellin would be the type of the song most audiences here could relate to.

I do expect M to be aware of this though.

Can i just say that im happy her ass looks so good and natural? Surprised there arent more comments about this. Her body looks so good.

Yep! Though to me it still looks like she could have enhanced it a bit? But idk, whatever was going on back at Stonewall, is thankfully not the case anymore.

Now actually, what I wanted to comment is - those shoes when she's entering the Cha Cha class, anyone else noticed they're from the Grammys / Brits Living For Love performances? Looks like the same pair to me!  Queen of recycling her wardrobe (in a good way)

  14. Re/ the ending-  don't think at all this is it with the "Madame X meets Maluma" chapter and it's all happily ever after with them riding away on the horses. Look at the very last shot again with M doing the "shh" sign...I don't know if I'm taking it way too literal but to me that's a dead give away things will take a turn in the follow-up vids.

Sorry for 😂 this is the best hilarious comment I have seen in a while about the power of our M causing a commotion - hope you got a plan B in place for your dinner - the video was stunning, wasn't it? Captivating, energizing, very positive

Haha trying to come up with an alternative now, but I'm still so compelled from the vid I can't get up and do sth  Problematic because I'm actually really hungry lol

Loved everything about the vid! I had my doubts about the song, but I feel like whenever I can't warm up with a single of hers, M comes along with a killer vid and compensates everything!
