  1. The "real" version will always be the one from the First Album european reediton for me since it's the one i first heard and grew up with. Yet i like the video version best. I don't like the 12", i think it's flat and dated BUT the japanese edit made it punchier.

The demos are incredible too. The one on PreMadonna and the Emmy rehearsals ones that leaked years ago.

It's such a good song and her oldest one (since it's an Emmy era one)

  2.

    Context, people, context...

"même si lui-même avoue ne pas être un fan de Madonna qui fait de la musique, mais bien « un musicien qui apprécie certains albums de la madone »."

He's not a music-making Madonna fan, but a musician who appreciates some Madonna albums.

He has been making Madonna remixes for a decade, he uses unofficial acapellas he pays for. He remixed almost all her songs. He is a fan but just does not want to admit it publicly and that is what pisses me off.

And about that review, well provincial people don't get her....she knows it.

  3. She's so wonderful in it but the movie is terrible, it's such a narcissistic entreprise, self fascination exercize by Ferrara. If he drunk less he could be able to make another Bad Lieutenant, It's been 20 years now and all his movies are terrible duds and from people who had to deal with him and i know, he's not a nice person. AT ALL.

Madonna was a producer on ths movie and if she was such a bitch she could have asked for final cut which she didn't asked for.

  4. And still some people think that the album is her worst and full of fillers hahaha. Which fillers???? The wonderful Over and Over??? The dramatic and exhilarating LDLHA???? The sweet Shoo Bee Doo, written by Madonna all by herself??? The magical Stay??? The trendy Pretender,?? That album crafted pop music. It was a pivotal moment and its influence has been bigger than Thriller for example

And Angel is the gem that only we, really hard fans, know and appreciate.

It's not at the bottom of my list at all :) (MDNA is and only because i hate GGW & Superstar & the whole mix of the album whereas i love everything on LAV). Like a virgin is a fantastic album inspired the Shangri la's, Motown & dancehall. The production, the drums..everything flows perfectly and the cover is beautiful. In fact i don't list Madonna albums now that i think about it.

  5. Like a virgin was still playing on the radio so was Material girl and came Angel with Into the groove followed closely by Crazy for you and Dress you up ( + Gambler was huge in Europe) = the 1985 onslaught !

  6. An interesting interview of the guy who did the remix of Like a Virgin used in the Rebel Heart Tour (it's in french because he's french  ) :

    http://www.republicain-lorrain.fr/actualite/2015/09/25/un-lorrain-fait-chanter-madonna

He says he was contacted by an assistant of Guy O (Sara something) at the beginning of July, they were interested in his remix. He had no news until the end of August, he signed a contract with the lawers of Boy Toy Inc, and he was payed 3500€ for perpetual use of the remix. And the guy says he watched the first Montreal show live on a website (certainly Periscope :newspaper:) to see Madonna sing his remix :stir:

I thought it would be interesting to share this!

He says he is not a Madonna fan ???? Who the fuck is he kidding ???

  7. How old are you? Are you aware that vids didn't even have big plots back then? and that using sex as a way to avoid depression was edgy at the time? This vid is incredibly witty after the full fanfare of Sex and way ahead of time. Unless you are on your 20s you will remember how were plots in vids back then.

He probably likes better the rip off Vilaine Fermière did with Abel Ferrara (with whom Madonna was filming Snake Eyes with at the time of the bad girl shoot) for her song California 2 years later :fuckoff:

  8. I adore this song, the lyrics are perfect, the melody BUT i have a problem with some of her vocals on it, she sounds way too nasal in some parts (just like on deeper and deeper). I wish for an accoustic performance of it with her lower register. It's a torch song that is asking for a reinvention.

  9. Was Lucky Star re-released as a proper 7" single in the US after Borderline ? Looking at Discogs and comparing releases it seems like Borderline was released in the US without the Jellybean New Mix in february of 1984, just the 7" (with poster bag and all).

Then Borderline was released in the UK in may of 1984 with the Jellybean new mix. In the US they released the special 12" (with the Borderline new mix by Jellybean on the A side and a new Lucky Star Jellybean remix as a b side) to surf on the Borderline success and the Lucky Star video was shot to promote this 12" and to showcase the "Madonna look" (which was starting to become popular but was not that obvious in the Borderline video due to the edit that rather followed the storyline). The Lucky Star video looks like a commercial for the "Madonna look".

    What do you think ?

  10. In the UK, Madonna's singles were released in the following order:

    Everybody

Lucky Star (re-promoted after the success of Holiday)

    Holiday

    Borderline (re-promoted in early 1986)

In the US, the order was as follows:

    Everybody

    Burning Up

    Holiday

    Borderline

    Lucky Star

In Australia, the order was as follows:

    Burning Up

    Holiday

    Borderline

    Lucky Star

New Zealand had the same order as Australia, with the addition of Everybody (before Burning Up).

The reason why Lucky Star precedes Borderline on TIC is because LS saw a single release in a major territory (the UK) before Borderline (even though the LS video wasn't filmed until immediately after the Borderline one).

    thank you :inlove:
