  1. If only her back catalogue was handled better. Her compilations made better. It's Madonna's fault since she does not like looking back but she should realize that her hard work for the last 30 years+ is being underminded for lack of exposure.

That's what Madonna.com should be for. She should make a deal with Youtube / Vevo / Warner to have ALL her videos in pristine condition available.

On Madonna.com there should be a page dedicated to each album, each single, detailling what the critics said at the time, how they charted + the story behind them, remixes etc....It's not that hard. A fan would do it. They just need to make a deal with Warner. Each page should have every important mix of each song available or made available with a buy link that sends you to itunes and every other plateforms.

Like a Wikipedia page but on her website with the video and audio files + pictures available.

  2. It depends on what is current at the time when these lists are made. 10 years ago "Like a virgin" sounded dated even Nile Rodgers said so "As a fan of her music it is not my favourite album of hers" but since Nile and his music made a comeback "Like a virgin" (the album he was involved in that sold the most in his whole career) started ranking higher. Confessions and Music may sound a bit dated today but in 10 years when another cycle (and generation) of music will take place they will be regarded better. It's just that her catalogue is so diverse and each album encompass perfectly a period in music like time capsules. If you listen to all her albums back to back you get an instant picture frame of what music was in each era in the last 30 years+.

  3. So, I was out today browsing at this local record store. They sell used vinyl, cds, cassettes, etc. And I came across this promo vinyl of Secret. It didn't have a price on it, so I asked the cashier how much it was, and she told me it was... wait for it... one dollar. That's right. ONE FUCKING DOLLAR!! I was so ecstatic!! What a steal!

I seriously love record stores. It's so much more special than shopping online. There's nothing like going into a record store not knowing what to expect and finding such a treasure!! Let's hope they stick around and don't all disappear.

There's a giant second hand record store, Boulinier in Paris bd St Michel where you can buy vinyls for 1€ and i used to to go there to buy nice ones with great covers to give the host when i was invited for diner since it lasts longer than fllowers and it's awkward to give flowers to guys. Once, 3 years ago, i was skipping through the vinyls to find a nice one to give and there was a 12" of Gambler, the extended version for 1€, i grabbed it and held it in shock. I was sure it was a mistake but it was indeed 1€ and it is in mint condition. A lucky day.

Another time i bought there a rare cd single of Dj Hell for a close Dj friend, he had been looking for it for a long time and i was glad to give it to him that night as he was mixing at le Point Ephemère, kind of an alternative spot and inside they had put a cd of a terrible french singer (Laam) instead. He did not check and played it. It was maybe the first time and the last time she was heard there. He was furious but we still laugh about it.

  4. I think Justify My love, the beast within, justify my love remixes, Get over & rescue me should be on the remastered Immaculate Collection with longer cuts of the complitaion tracks (they exist).

Just a cd won't do because they don't sell anymore. Mini boxes with original albums remastered, bonus album of demos, unreleased tracks and alternative versions plus an album of the album's singles remixes and as much pics from the album's era would be a better choice.

  5. It's ok when it's in the Flop Princess section because we all know it's comedy there and it was created for this reason. Putting this here looks negative and mean for no reason. I'm glad an almost 50 y/o female artist managed to get a #1 album in these times. This thread is just like the articles on Janet putting down Madonna to make her look better : stupid and useless. At the end of the day we have 2 veteran female artists having a decent era and that's what should be highlighted.

  6. I'm not breaking any rules. This thread was posted in the general section so it's a free-for-all. And I'm more present here than you think. Just because I don't post here as often as you'd like doesn't mean I don't have a right to be here. Fyi, I spend most of my time lurking in the tour section. I think it's amazing how she's slaying Asia and perfomed Secret (one of my faves) for the first time EVER! :)

It's not a question of posting more or less, it's just like it feels like you're getting out of the bush your hiding in only when Janet is mentionned. It's especially annoying when we hear about forums talking about Janet reporting about Madonnanation and how awful we are to her. But this thread is stupid Bang Gang. It should be in the princess section because there are some people who like both artists whom can be offended by this when they chose to not visit her thread there because of the negativity. She may not have sold as many copies as Rebel Heart but the album is good, finally, after all these years of trash releases and that in itself is a victory for her but a victory on herself.

  7. I loved the single so much. It was dark , menacing and the chorus is ecstatic. When i got the album i thought the tracks were too long (i still do). I fell in love with Secret Garden right away and i still am, i loved Why's it so hard (should have been a single instead of Fever in Europe to compete with All that she wants from Ace of Base that has the same vibe). I had a problem with her voice on some parts of Bad Girl and Deeper and Deeper (too nasal). I didn't like the flamenco guitar in DAD (the Rebel Heart tour version redeemed it for me finally). I loved Waiting so much. I thought "Thief of hearts" was a missed oppurtunity because it was way too slow for a club banger. Words was fantastic. I loved the strings and orchestra in In this life. I loved her voice on Rain. I thought that overall it's a cold album but i loved it and i still do the exact same way.

  8. If they were all sincere they would all be saying the same as Jlo. The iconic Courtney Love / Madonna VMA awards 95 interview crash is always cut short but if you watch in full, you'll see Courtney tell Madonna that Kurt and her went to see "Truth or Dare" and he kept telling her "It's you, it's you" and she was proud of it. She's also kneeling before her and saying "95 was bad right but let's hope 96 will be better" and you see that she's desperate to be close to her. If you read Christopher book, he says the same thing about Courtney but also about all the celebrities he was close to because he was the closest to Madonna they could be. Madonna don't hang out, don't like celebrity parties and she puts barriers that's a what made some really mad like Elton John because she always refused to go to his parties and be closer. There's an interview of him from the mid 90's where he says he does not invite her anymore because she never comes.

  9. It's also in this Glamour diary we learn about the La Isla Bonita costume (not in Liberation as i wrongfully remembered).

We indeed saw the costume since it was produced before the song was removed from the setlist in early feb. 90 (according to the diary).

It was toreador pants and bra (she finally wore a torreador costume for the track on the Rebel Heart tour^^).

We first saw the pants in this pic from french Elle when Gaultier first posed with the costumes on Stockman mannequins.

    Elle_France_May_1990_page_99_copy.jpg

We then saw Madonna trying the costume on in the Polaroids from the fitting that were at the Gaultier exhibit :

At the Gaultier exhibit there was a bra attributed to Madonna i'd never seen her wear and it's the La Isla Bonita bra. We can see it in the above pic and here photgraphed by the press for the exhibit :

As to where La Isla Bonita would have been in the setlist, my guess is that it was in lieu of Holiday. Since an early version of the Keep it together costume can be seen here worn on the Bonita costume :

    madonna_jean_paul_gaultier_book_09.jpg

And since the Holiday costume is the only costume from the show Gaultier did not make. It was a Marlene Stewart creation based on the top Madonna wore in the "San Diego" shoot with Herb Ritts in december 89. It must have been produced in a rush when she switched the songs so late.
