  1. I have always been interested in this and have posted in the past about what may or may not exist in the archives with regards videos of Madonna concerts.

It's really interesting to read what Alek says. Sounds like 'Madonna's Management' are our only hope with regards the ToD stuff. I just wonder what effort has ever been put into archiving stuff like this (effort and expense is required).

I wonder what other concert videos are also correctly archived.

Every show she has done on every tour since 1987 was professionally filmed by a company called Nocturne Productions. They used multiple cameras at every show to project the concert to giant venue screens and each of these will have been recorded and the recordings handed over to Madonna's team. Just wonder what they properly archived.

When it came to Michael Jackson's 1988 Bad Tour, only these Nocturne venue-screen recordings existed - and one of them was eventually released on DVD for sale a couple of years ago.

This statement regarding what happened with the Nocturne concert videos of MJs tour is really interesting. It is almost certain that the same procedure existed between Nocturne and Madonna on WTG, BA, GS and DW tours. And so it is possible / likely that proshot videos of every single show on those tours still exists somewhere. That thought fascinates me.

From CT onwards, Nocturne screen footage was recorded digitally and given to Madonna btw.

An Aspiring Israeli Singer Who Hacked Madonna's Computer And Leaked Songs From Her New Album Has Been Jailed For 14 Months.

Adi Lederman, 39, a former contestant on Israeli singing show A Star Is Born, was handed the prison sentence on Thursday (09Jul15) as part of a plea deal after admitting charges of computer trespassing and infringement of privacy and property rights.

He was also fined around $4,000 (£2,500).

A statement from the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court reads, "The ease with which crimes such as this can be committed by those who have skills in the field, such as the accused, require an appropriate punitive response that has a deterrent and uncompromising message."

Lederman was arrested in January (15) as part of an investigation into the hacking of various computers and email accounts, including those of pop superstar Madonna, who was furious after tracks from her Rebel Heart album emerged online prior to their planned release.

She called the hacking a "devastating and hurtful experience".

  3. Wow so cool seeing her perform LMTWGR before True Blue was released and before she completely changed her image. When I listen to True Blue album I always vision short blonde hair Madonna.

    Yes!

This was the first song she ever wrote with Pat Leonard - who she had hired as Musical Director of the Virgin Tour that year and who of course went on to co-write many of the best songs of her career!

One of the 1985 VT bandmembers shared the original LMTWGR demo a few years ago - which was also fascinating to hear. And I'm so glad she went on to record this song for "True Blue" cos it's such a stunning feel-good tune.

In the UK and Europe, the Live Aid TV broadcast cut back to Wembley Stadium before Madonna's set had ended - so no-one here got to see the full LMTWGR - in fact it was maybe 10 years later until I heard / saw it (thanks to the net).

  4. This is from Nightshade's excellent timeline thread:

August 14: Madonna attends a Peggy Lee cabaret show at Club 53 in the NY Hilton tonight (Liz Smith).

August 15: Pettibone says that “Goodbye to Innocence” wasn’t working. He worked overnight on a new bassline that he brought into Soundworks (NYC) today and it seemed to fix the problem. However, when Madonna started putting down the vocal track, she started toying with the lyrics and started singing the words to “Fever.” He says it sounded so good they decided to actually cover the tune. Madonna called Seymour Stein and in less than an hour, they had the lyrics to the Peggy Lee original. This was the last track they did for Erotica. (The Erotica Diaries, Shep Pettibone)

Personal note: I find this particularly interesting...she attends a Peggy Lee show the night before and the next day - bam! - "Fever" is reborn as a Madonna track. Just goes to show you how much can change with her in the drop of a hat. happy.gif

So the press release looks fake as GTI wasn't working was replaced.

I do also remember talk of an Erotica VHS release like JML but it was so much harder to get information, I don't remember seeing anything in print.

    Interesting!

I have a feeling that press release is real though. Remember "Goodbye To Innocence" was on the album when Vogue USA had a review copy. The song is specifically mentioned in their October 1992 Madonna interview, a few lines of lyrics are even quoted.

Back then I remember getting that magazine (in the UK) after I already had the album - and I couldn't work out what the hell they were talking about with regards that album song! It took another 2 years for me to find out for sure ("Just Say Roe" in 1994).

  5. As I said....every single show for every single tour over the past nine years has had an Icon pre-sale....in every na-tion! ;)

Not on Confessions Tour - which is the last time Madonna's done more than 2 nights in any one UK venue.

Back then, the extra London nights were added without warning and without presales (she did 8 nights at Wembley Arena in the end).

Each additional concert was put on sale by Ticketmaster when the previous dates were almost or completely 'sold out'. I remember many of us were sat at our computers all day hitting the refresh button, not knowing when the "next" date might suddenly appear! :-)

I think only if demand for these aussie dates is crazy strong (like sold out a few minutes after going on sale) could they consider adding dates there and then. That's how it was on DWT, RiT and CT in London and that's how the dates were added. There's never been that same London demand since.

  6. Madonna will be spending at least 3 weeks down under. That's what Ipex said initially. I doubt he was lying about what he said by the looks of it what he said has all come true it was just delayed

Well said. He was right in the end, we just had a longer than expected wait for the confirmation!

Fully expecting 2 extra nights in each of these cities btw! Bound to be massive demand!!

  7. And linking the tour announcement to the BIM release is 1) giving people in charge an awful lot of credit for being way more organized than they are and 2) giving the BIM release way more hype that it is ever going to get from the media or radio. Outside of an interview with Molly or the Project nothing is going to get much widespread attention, the tour announcement would get some media coverage on its own.

Maybe we won't get an announcement until the tour opens in September?

Just speculating here - but they do always like putting lots of tickets on sale when there's something else being talked about in the media. Lots of speculation over the years that the reason other tours haven't gone to Oz was because promoters weren't confident they could deliver sales to cover Madonna's high fees - they'll not want to risk that happening so everyone is bound to be looking to hook the Aussie tour announcements up with something else that will ensure maximum publicity.

  8. I never saw that hair until the internet. Like the other interview with Casey Casem? She's on the swivel chair picking her nose! Love that one. I think she talks about DSS. In the UK, she disappeared between Live Aid and Live To Tell although she had four singles out in that time. We never got to see any of these interviews as no one watched MTV here as it was satellite TV only. The only time we saw her was for the filming on Shanghai Surprise and the one random picture from Goose and Tom Tom.

The internet was a revelation for all these old interviews!

    So true.

I lived through all that - and even though she was the biggest star in the UK, we got virtually NOTHING on TV over here back then!

We had the tabloid newspapers and magazines like Smash Hits to go on - and with lots of things she did at the time, I never became aware until years and years later via the net!

For me, I think the lack of UK TV stuff made her 1986 "reinvention" even the more dramatic - cos we went from only seeing her as the crucifix-wearing boy-toy styled star right up until the moment she arrived in the UK in Feb 1986 to film Shanghai Surprise. She suddenly looked like a completely different person and I will never forget the day I saw photos of that in all the papers here. Live To Tell was around the corner and it was hard to believe this was the same person as the Madonna of 1985.

I had never seen ANYTHING of her new look from that Molly interview or SNL until years later.

And btw - thanks for all the nice comments about the videos I uploaded. It's a pleasure. And I have a lot more rare 1985 TV stuff never before seen online coming this year!

  9. She always does big tour announcements when there's other publicity around - that's why we were able to predict the US and European tickets going on sale close to the time of the RH album release.

Based on this - I'm expecting the June 9th date to be true - cos that date will likely mean presales happening this week followed by public onsale next Monday - which funnily enough happens to also be the world premiere date of her new video.

The new video's supposedly got a load of celebrities in it - and will undoubtedly be much talked about worldwide. Tickets going on sale for her first Australian tour in 22 years will be the perfect event to accompany that!

  10. I agree with Jamesey. There was one guy that posted on icon a few weeks ago that the first few shows would be moved but I think he was just speculating, however, people may be getting carried away with these rumours.

    Let's hope anyways.

Yeah I will go berserk if they really do mess around with a load of other dates etc.

The time for doing that was last week when they made the big announcement about Miami etc.

Would like to think that doing something so significant like that, would have focused their minds on what was indeed a firm date and what wasn't.

The rumours right now about future changes are all entirely based on the theory that the "rescheduling" last week is to do with ticket sales. That theory is by no means confirmed at this point.

If we are to believe that the opening shows rescheduling is actually to do with the production not being ready (ie. what was said in the official statement) - then all these new rumours circling around shows that haven't been selling well, don't carry weight!

  11. Theres a rumour on Tribe that Brooklyn and Atlantic City shows maybe "rescheduled".

Also Andifeel has posted the following"Its early and later US/Canadian dates i'd keep my eye on at the start of the tour, and Manchester, Glasgow, Antwerp and Mannheim in Europe".

Be careful of all these "rumours" though - I never saw any "rumours" that specifically mentioned Miami, Puerto Rico, Atlanta or Herning - even the day before these shows were all rescheduled.

If people really had "sources" then how come these shows which actually have been rescheduled, weren't "rumoured" in advance (on here or elsewhere). Think about it! :-)

  12. BTW - Ticketpop in Puerto Rico have been swift and courteous with regards my ticket refunds - thanks so much to Chelle for her help!!

    Amazed though at this:

Thanks for writing. We regret the inconvenience for the date change. We can perform the cancellation of your order and reimburse the credit card used with the cost of the ticket and its tax. Service charges are non-refundable, as established in the policy at the time of purchase.

I mean - whatever issues I may have with refunds for hotel and flights are one thing - but there should be ZERO cost the customer with regards the actual concert ticket refunds due to this schedule change. It's kinda bad!!
