  1. it's also a snippet and low quality

It's not that low quality that we can't HEAR it. And it's not like if the song gets longer those 15 seconds are suddenly going to change. Come on. The vocals aren't crisp. They sound processed and layered and, like the writer said in his completely contradictory review, they get a little lost in the production. And I never said any of this was a bad thing, just that the review sounds like BS and contradicts itself..

Someone who heard it from the Madonnatribe forum.

He also said the part we hear in the megamix is the chorus and that the way the song leads into it is absolutely amazing.

Without hearing the bridges (and the verses) we can't have an idea of the song.

What I'm hearing in the snippet sounds like a chorus and a verse. There's obviously a lot we haven't heard, so I could be wrong, but the "Girls they just want to have some fun" sounds more like a verse than a hook to me.

Single review: Madonna ‘Girls Gone Wild’ puts comeback back on track

    Edward Daily

    San Diego Music Examiner

Currently, San Diego’s Z93 is spinning “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” a song that has not gone down well with fans or the general public. Some have even called it Madonna’s worst song ever. That’s the bad news.

The good news: Madonna’s upcoming single, “Girls Gone Wild,” will not only put her comeback back on track, but will make listeners forget about “Give Me All Your Lovin’.” It is an absolute club banger and will rank up with “Vogue” and “Ray of Light” as one of Madonna’s best dance tracks.

The song begins with Madonna reciting some sort of prayer, before singing about being a good girl gone bad. There is no doubt that her misogynist critics will shout foul play against a 53-year-old woman singing about going wild. These are the same critics that probably praised Bruce Springsteen’s 2007 single “Girls in Their Summer Clothes,” even though Springsteen was four years older than Madonna when he released it.

However, there is a deeper meaning to the song—it is sort of autobiographical. It’s about a good catholic girl who decides she doesn’t want to play by the rules anymore. Does that sound familiar?

Madonna’s crisp vocals—very reminiscent of her 1993 hit “Deeper and Deeper,” get somewhat lost in the production at times. But it’s a production that is a definite winner. Those who thought Madonna lost her way after listening to “Give Me All Your Luvin’” will be pleased. “Girls Gone Wild” hasn’t officially been released yet, but you should start hearing it any day now.

This sounds like nonsense to me. Not to mention, "crisp vocals"? The snippet we've heard is the opposite of "crisp vocals." And if they're "crisp," how can they get lost in the production? MESS.

  3. However, artistically is was spot on choice. Its the best video from that album. Everybody still remembers it. Its fucking cool. And the remix is one of her best.

I feel GMAYL and MDNA will be more of her wanting to do whatever she wants..

Well, it's subjective, isn't it? I think DTM is a better video. WIFLFAG was an interesting video, but it's not great. And I'm not sure anyone remembers it besides us. Most people didn't even see it. I do like the remix, but it was the not the best way to present that song. If she wanted to put out something edgy and artistic, she should have just released "Impressive Instant" as the third single. And I don't think this album represents her doing whatever she wants. She hasn't done that since AL. That Madonna is long gone. GMAYL proves it.

Speaking of which, could this "remix" possibly be a single version with a guest on it for U.S. radio? That makes much more sense than premiering a single no one's ever even heard yet with a totally new mix.

  4. Oh god, I hope it is just for the lyrics video. I don't mind another awesome remix, but from a marketing perspective it's not helpful to an album. After all, "WIFLFAG" and its remix release barely helped Music because the album version didn't sound anything like the video version.

Yeah that was a huge mistake on her part. She was riding high with "Music" and DTM, and not only did they use a remix for the video, but the video didn't get any airtime because of the content. And then we all know what happened with the fourth single. I swear Music was one of the biggest botch jobs in terms of singles and promotion. It could have been as big as ROL, if not bigger.

  5. It's not hard at all.All they have to do is announce that GGW is the official "first single" from the album and that "GMAYL" was the teaser/buzz single. It won't be a big catastrophe

Yes, they could do that, and they've pulled stunts like that before, but everyone always sees through it. GMAYL was announced as the lead single. They can't take that back. And like I said earlier, "buzz singles" don't have official big-budget videos and radio add dates.

  6. The other thing about Adele is that she's always slightly off pitch. She gets so much love for her voice, but it DRIVES ME CRAZY. Obviously Madonna is just as bad, but people don't go around praising her vocals like she's Whitney Houston.

  7. I know nothing about EFMT, but why does everyone keep a) accusing people who say something negative of being a Gaga fan as if liking Gaga somehow automatically makes you a Madonna hater, and b) keep misinterpreting everyone's join date?

If you don't like what someone is saying, just ignore them!

  8. ^ "Deeper and Deeper," not "Die Another Day"! Context clues!

"Deeper and Deeper" entered the Hot 100 dated 12/5/92; the Erotica album debuted on the Billboard 200 dated 11/7/92. So, no, radio was not playing "Deeper and Deeper" when the album was released. "Erotica" faded as fast as it did because it had negative listener reaction. The audience wanted poppier Madonna, and so it got it with "Deeper and Deeper."

Yes, but singles couldn't debut on the Hot 100 until they were released commercially. Airplay began earlier. It might not have started before the album dropped, but it was no later than release week. I definitely remember hearing them playing it as soon as they got their hands on the album. At least in NYC. I miss those days.

  9. MA had the Timbaland sound that was still popular in 2008, but BGO had Kanye, so either one could have worked. Hell, BGO was getting airplay on dance radio without any promotion. Either way, though, the REAL issue was the timing. They waited way too long. And obviously released the wrong song.

  10. it's quite early really... the remixes for GMAYL hasn't even officially hit the stores yet... what's the use of releasing remixes if attention to it will just be siphoned...

Yeah, but waiting for the original planned roll-out of the previous single and not rush-releasing a new single is what WB would have done. They paid for the remixes, so they might as well release them, right? That doesn't mean they're not preparing to launch the new single at the same time. They've only got one month left to maintain the buzz for the album release, so their strategy is probably to throw as much shit against the wall as possible.

  11. Regarding this "buzz single" business, they do exist, and it is indeed done, but GMAYL was not an example of it. Buzz singles typically aren't serviced to radio with official add dates like GMAYL, and they certainly aren't promoted via press release as the "first single." Sometimes they have videos, but usually they don't. And if they do, they're not previewed on American Idol. Now, if Interscope wants to pretend that it was just a "buzz single," that's a different story. Labels have tried to pull that before. Just because a song underperforms doesn't make it a buzz single!

And Interscope does operate differently than WB. This will be the first instance that M has a second single (in which the lead single wasn't a soundtrack cut) out in advance of the album in her career. And it's not like she hasn't head lead singles that peaked quickly- "Erotica" certainly didn't perform like the lead singles that preceded it, losing its chart bullet in just its third week on the Hot 100. It was a shocker for that time when it dropped from No. 3 to 5 and never regained its footing.

If I'm recalling correctly (I was only 13 at the time), radio started playing DAD before or around the time the album dropped, didn't they? I remember hearing that "Bad Girl" was planned as the second single, but when radio abandoned "Erotica" and started playing DAD, WB obliged. I actually think that's partly WHY "Erotica" dropped so fast. Radio wanted to play a different song.

On a side note, I tried to look this up on http://themadonnabbarchives.com, which has always been very useful but the domain wasn't renewed and now it's no longer there. I think a user on AbsMad runs it? It's a shame since it was great week-by-week chart info.

  12. If anything it proves that Madonna's got a strong promotional team behind her now, doing the rush-release thing - becuz let's face it, when she was with WBR, they were happy to sit back and do nothing. Remember when Hung Up fizzled and they waited like 2 months to put Sorry out? :lmao: Of course, Hung Up was a huge, huge hit so it didn't matter, but it only did "respectable" in the USA, and I bet you radio/iTunes/wahtever would have given her a decent chance had they simply been more aggressive in putting a 2nd single out. And look what they did with Give It 2 Me - not only did they wait forever AGAIN, but that song was such a SHIT second single. Hello, BEAT GOES ON? I mean if Madonna is only gonna score hits with Justina Twinkerlake and Timberland Shoes, may as well have put out the song where she features Kanyego East.

I honestly think the folks at WB still thought it was 1993. They did this even during AL. They acted like the flop singles were still riding high on the charts and they had to wait for it to die down before they could release a new single. Three or four months between singles is ridiculous even when they're hits. With HU I feel like they were waiting for it to die down everywhere else because they couldn't rush release "Sorry" in the U.S. (with a video) without it getting attention in Europe and detracting from HU. But yeah, a hot mess.

  13. I have no idea what that was, I didn't see the thread but why is everyone up in arms about the 1 million comment? I mean... you know. HC barely went gold and that was with a huge first single. It's not negativity, it's just... the truth?

That's all I was saying. I suppose the LOL emoticon made it look like I was gloating that she won't sell 1M, but it's genuinely hilarious to me that this songwriter/producer dude thinks Madonna can sell 1M in one week in 2012. It's just out of touch with reality. I truly wish Madonna could sell those numbers. And I wish GMAYL was a huge smash. And I wish I liked GMAYL. I just assumed that my presence here made those things obvious by default!

P.S. Tonight: That Gaga gif is hilarious. I saw it last time you (or someone else) posted it.

  14. 71 POSTS about lady Fucking Gaga vs Madonna. Can someone ban this little silly monster?

71 posts? Really? You guys are killing me. None of my posts were pitting Gaga vs. Madonna. You only see what your eyes want to see. I was explaining my belief that Gaga's decline in popularity is because she's attempting to tackle hot button issues the way Madonna did in the early '90s when HER popularity started to decline. What is wrong with you people?

  15. Is he? Looks like a monster to me. Didn't they planned to send their army here?

Really dude? You're the one who said "Finally some sense" when I posted about GMAYL. And someone else (maybe you? maybe someone else?) said I was their favorite poster.

Consider this your final warning. I don't care if you're a Madonna stan or a Lady Gaga mole, you're doing yourself no favors right now. Album release times are always stressful because the biggest trolls come out of the woodwork to play. But everyone's got their eyes peeled. One more post that annoys me and you'll have to go back to Gagadaily for your daily entertainment.

Excuse me? Final warning? When was there a first warning? And for what? Weren't you taking part in the discussion about Gaga? Judging from your most recent post in that thread (which I finally read just now because I'd moved on days ago), it was perfectly civil and ended with mutual respect. Someone else brought Gaga up, and anyone who has a brain and eyes and has read my posts can clearly see that I was attempting to have an intelligent conversation about why she's fading in popularity. I understand that people felt like it was too much of a tangent, but that conversation ended four days ago. So what's the problem? Jean Baptiste or whatever his name is implied that Madonna could sell 1M in her first week. That's hilarious. Everyone here knows it. I responded as such. It has nothing to do with Lady Gaga. I happen to be a longtime fan, but I'm no sycophant and if I don't like something, like GMAYL, I'll say it. If that's not allowed here, I'll leave. Why ban someone when you can just gang up on them and make them not want to come back?

  16. It's really, really difficult to have a real conversation about Lady Gaga when almost everyone in the room hates her and is incapable of being objective. You guys are so blinded by your distaste for her that you can't see past the Madonna comparisons to what I'm actually saying. I do think part of it has to do with exposure, and I also think the "quality" of the music matters. I happen to like BTW a lot, but I can see how it wouldn't resonate on pop radio like her past hits. These are all factors.

XXL and 12:51: Madonna appealed to the gays from the start too. But "Just Dance," etc. had broad appeal. A song about trannys and lesbians and videos with men in tights and heels are taking it to a level where it's inherently going to alienate more casual fans who are just listening for the pop songs and the fun costumes. She crossed a line. Nobody's talking about whether the controversies were "good" or not. You guys are confusing what I'm saying with me saying Gaga is as good or controversial as Madonna was. For the last time: That's not what I've been saying. Read what I'm actually saying! Kurt did!

Supernatural: You're confusing "stunts" or individual controversies (which Madonna has many of and Gaga has few) with an overall tone. Gaga's images have become more and more subversive, and more and more gay. That is one factor that is turning off Middle America. I'm not saying it's the only one, but it's one.

  17. ^^

Thank u for posting! Sounds like great news. I just wish they wouldn't compare it to LAP because that's just going to set people up for disappointment IMO. Let's face it, NOTHING she does will probably ever beat that....but I will gladly eat my words if this album does indeed end up being as good as LAP. Perhaps GMAYL is the "Cherish" of MDNA?? :)

"Cherish" is far from my favorite Madonna single, and it's one of my least favorite tracks on LAP, but it's pure pop brilliance in comparison to GMAYL! GMAYL is more like "Jimmy Jimmy" or "Can't Stop."
