You're saying you don't think "Don't Tell Me" was a risky single for mainstream U.S. radio?
-
I'm not saying she doesn't take risks (even "Live to Tell" was kind of a risk), but you can pretty much count how many times Madonna hasn't gone with the most commercial/mainstream songs for the singles on two hands:
Hanky Panky
Justify My Love
Erotica
Bedtime Story
Don't Tell Me
Die Another Day
American Life
And I wouldn't count "Frozen." Aside from the blips and bleeps, it's a totally traditional Madonna pop song.
-
It's kind of odd, but this song is sort of what I was expecting/wanting when I heard that she was working with Timbaland. Reminds me a little of "SexyBack."
-
Yeah, I'd say the full video will be out by the end of next week. Are there any other details aside from "tomorrow"?
-
Seriously my favorite clip so far. Can't wait for the full song! I can't see why this couldn't have been a single. So what if it's not "radio friendly" it's not like the current singles have set the chart on fire with their radio frIendliness.
Yes, but it's obvious they're TRYING. Releasing any of the three leaked tracks we've heard would have been DOA.
-
I just wish she wasn't singing like a little girl robot. Think about how much sexier it would sound if Madonna circa "Rescue Me" was singing this?
-
fun/cool.

This is really growing on me. I still don't like the effects on her voice, but it's really pretty and I actually like the lyrics (although I'm guessing it's because they were written by someone else!).
-
Booo. I want to hear something new!
-
No way, neither of these two new songs would make good singles. I can't hear radio being interested in either of them. MAYBE "I'm Addicted" but I'd have to hear the whole thing.
-
The thing I like least is the vocal effects, but hopefully the full version in high quality will make it come together for me. It's certainly not bad.
-
My first reaction is that it's totally underwhelming. Sounds like filler to me. The hook isn't strong and the vocal effects sound unnecessary. Hopefully the full version will have more to it. I dig the direction, but doesn't sound like anything special.
So far (and this is based solely on the clips obviously):
I'm Addicted

Love Spent

Girl Gone Wild

Oh this BS theory again. Not only does it not make a lick of sense (if she was only interested in making money from performing she couldve never signed a contract with Livenation and just continued performing off her back catalogue in VEGAS like Cher and CELINE), she prett much told us fair and square that music is her first priority and first passion in that interview a few days ago. Just becuz she has stopped caring about flouncing around all over prime time TV doesn't mean she has lost her integrity. Shes got 4 kids now to boot. Lady Gaga can appear on every awful tv show all over the planet because her status and relevance in pop culture is all she cares about. Madonna has grown up. Name another pop star with 4 kids that promotes herself to hell like Rihanna and Lady Gaga do. Even Britney has stopped promoting herself as much now that she has 2 boys.
Theory? It's not really a "theory." She's practically said it in interviews. She needs to pay the bills, and making albums doesn't do that anymore, not just because of the market being what it is, but because SHE doesn't sell very well anymore. She does, however, sell out arenas. And good for her. But the least she can do for her Interscope, who's dumping millions into marketing the album, is make yourself available for a few weeks before locking yourself in a rehearsal studio. I never said she's lost her integrity (I mean, she has, but not for this reason). The argument that she "has kids now" and so she can't make a few TV/radio appearances doesn't hold any water. We're talking about going on tour - which is way more disruptive to family life. What does it have to do with growing up? How is touring more "grown up" than doing press for your album? I don't think she needs to go on American Idol and Dancing with the Stars and every morning show on TV. I do think, however, there's really no reason she couldn't have started the tour one month later and make herself a little more visible leading up to the release. Not to mention, you know we're going to get crap videos, if any at all.

@guyoseary Madonna needs urgent promo for her album fast!!!
Guy Oseary Guy Oseary @guyoseary
@Recylopse she's in full on rehearsals.. a teaser of video coming soon.. and video being edited now.. other things in the works..
They should really know better. Touring doesn't sell albums. She shouldn't start rehearsals until after the album is out. And if that means the dates start later in the year, so be it. It's just poor planning and basically confirms what we already know - she's only interested in making money and the album is simply an excuse to hit the road.

For those who hear COADF in this song, I'm guessing you mean the Mirwais tracks/b-sides, because I don't hear Stuart Price at all. His sound is much cleaner, more...sanitized? This sound dirty.
-
Yes! It's sick! If only this was a single instead of... anyway, THIS IS HARDCORE RAVEDONNA!
This would have made all of us very happy, but it wouldn't do well on U.S. radio at all. It's too techno/weird. It's a good buzz single though. They really need to let the public hear some of these the way they released "The Edge of Glory," "Hair," etc. from Gaga's album. In fact, TEOG only became a single because of the great response. So if they released something like IA to iTunes and it shot into the Top 10, radio might pick it up and it could become a hit. Who knows, maybe they're planning something like that in the coming weeks.
-
This is what I'm saying. When Madonna does something right/hot/interesting, I will GIVE IT UP to her. I hope the rest of the album sounds like this. And honestly, I can get past the cheesy mainstream sound of GGW. But not those lyrics/vocals.
-
OH MY GOD.
-
E-single? Confusing. Is it a single or isn't it? I think doing what they did with some other recent album (like Born This Way), where they released a new track to iTunes every week leading up to the album release would be a good idea.
-
I like the idea of another segued album, although I don't necessarily think it needs to be everything. It would be interesting if it was divided into three sections.
-
I liked many of the remixes during the AL and COADF era. I also liked the Celebration/Revolver remixes, but that probably had more to do with the fact that I hate the original versions. The HC remixes did suck though. It's the only era where I don't own any of the singles.
-
Her vocals sound deeper on that demo, like something from the 90s. SIGH. I can get over bad lyrics if the vocals are good, and vice versa, but not both.

MEDIABASE: MADONNA - Girl Gone Wild: 0.044 (+ 0.034)
is it a good sign?
No. I've played the song that my times in my bedroom already.
-
maybe orchestral version is a myth?
The version that's been released IS the orchestral version. Those strings you hear? They're real.

I'm really glad that the two Orbit tracks we've heard sound nothing like ROL. I'm eager to hear the rest!
