You haven't heard the whole thing too, and you have the nerve to say BASED ON THE SNIPPETS 3.5 SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT.
Please invent a time machine, go back to 1989, and never return. Thanks.
There's a big difference between saying the RS rating sounds about right based on what we've heard and saying "the album DESERVES more than that." I have no idea what the album "deserves" because I haven't heard the whole thing. It sounds like there will be some great/hot tracks, a few filler tracks and a couple of stinkers, so 3.5 sounds like a pretty good possibility. Not sure what going back to 1989 means.

Ray of light 4.5 stars
MUsic. 4 Stars
American life 3 stars
COADF. 4 stars
HC. 4 stars..
MDNA deserves more than 3.5..
I agree that the review could have been more substantial, but it's extremely favorable and forgives many of the flaws we know are probably there. But how can you say it "deserves" more than 3.5 when you haven't even heard the whole thing? Based on the snippets, 3.5 sounds about right. That's above average.

So if they're previewing the last three songs this weekend then I'm guessing the full album will be streaming on the 19th and not the 21st. I'm eager to hear "Some Girls," if only because Klaus Ahlund is involved. I hope it has a Robyn vibe to it.
-
It's a grower, for sure.
-
Isn't it coming out in some territories on the 22nd? Which means it should leak before the 21st.
-
Yeah, but hasn't Madonna's SoundCloud and YouTube been posting them soon after Perez? Do you think they're actually waiting on him? Or maybe it's them - maybe they haven't sent it to him yet (yes, I'm defending him now).
-
Perez is probably busy getting lipo.

Easy Ride is amazing. I love the lyrics, the vocals, the production. The way she under-sings that first line is amazing. And the strings are beautiful. This doesn't sound as good as that, but I'm hoping the rest of the track has some surprises. The bubbly bit sounds out of place to me too. And it almost sounds like the snippet is spliced together from two different parts of the song?

oh it will drop off pretty big the following week-dont kid urselves
Yes, but 85% is unheard of. Most big releases drop about 60%. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, and since M's first week isn't going to be HUGE, you can expect the typical 60% drop. Maybe 65.

The more I listen to it, the more I agree that it would have made a better lead single than GMAYL. Hell, it would have made a good album title too. It has a little bit of a Katy Perry thing going on. I'm just not sure if the hook is strong enough. And obviously the lyrics are kind of bad.
-
Oh, and my prediction for U.S. is around 250K. It will be similar to Hard Candy. The lack of a hit will be made up for by the fan buzz.
-
^ There's no way she's going to drop 85% the second week!

Yep there was this segment on a french entertainment show "50 minutes inside" about Madonna's french connection and it was after the Smirnoff event and they interviewed her dancer Norman and Hardy (Whom Norman introduced to Madonna) and he was mixing the track Madonna made her entrance on and he said he composed it especially for her."Superstar" is the only track being produced by Hardy on MDNA. Maybe we'll get it as some kind of bonus track sometime or on his own album ( i don't know if he's making one).
Is there still video of this online? I remember it was all over the place but now I can't find it.
And based on the snippets we've heard, here's my take:
I'm Addicted > Gang Bang > Love Spent > Turn Up the Radio > Masterpiece > Girl Gone Wild > Superstar > Give Me All Your Luvin'
Jimmy Jimmy would be somewhere in the middle.
-
Atrocious lyrics :/
I'm quite disappointed thinking that Hardy indiigo Muanza did that wonderful hard floor / German indus instrumental at the Smirnoff event and we end up with an Orbit wannabe track :/
Is that the track that played when she made her entrance? Because I was hoping that was one of the new tracks she was working on for the album. Oh well.

Definite filler. Next!
It's interesting that even the non-WO tracks sound like WO. I still think GMAYL sounds more like WO than Solveig too.
-
^ Maybe we'll get a snippet of "Masterpiece"!
It would be weird TUTR was one of the snippets for this week. Obviously it would be nice to hear a verse or something, but I'd rather hear three brand new ones.
-
^ Love it! This would have made a better single cover. I think the other one is a little too racy for a single cover.
-
I feel like if the album leaks it will be the standard version, so there will still surprises to come leading up to the release date.
-
^ Yeah, it does. I love that song.
-
^ My sentiments exactly.

I definitely miss the days of walking into a record store and picking it up off the shelf, buying it, and coming home to listen to it. The last time I did that with a Madonna album was Ray of Light. And it was glorious. But times have changed, and finding a leak and downloading it and listening to it for the first time is still a thrill.
I obviously want it to leak because I want to hear the album and don't want to wait. It's been almost four years since we've had a new Madonna album, after all. I'm surprised most of us aren't more rabid - but you can chalk that up to being disappointed with a lot of her recent music. I think leaking a week before the release date doesn't hurt, and probably helps a little. Leaking three weeks in advance would be a huge problem. They would need to prepared to move up the street date to at least a week earlier.

If this shit goes down, someone better PM me!

What was up with that fat PIG hasbeen Perez getting clips of the album? Wtf. It's not 2007 anymore! Nobody cares about that loser now. Not the best most effective marketing exercise I'd say and it was bad enough she acknowledged him the first time.
Even if I was desperate to hear the new songs (I am of course, but don't want to hear em like that), I'd really begrudge going to that disgusting pervert's site to hear them, even if he had them in full. I don't think I could do that and break my habit of NOT going there anymore. But anyway...
I respect you enormously for this. I actually waited until people linked to other sites before listening to the clips. I refuse to make him money.

Love Spent does sound ROLish LIKE IT OR NOT
I don't think it does, at least from what I heard. Does it sound like Orbit? Yes. Does it sound like something from ROL? Not really. Those songs were either throbbing dance cuts or lush downtempo tracks. And the vocal effect doesn't sound like anything on ROL.
