have or will the bundle numbers be released? curious if she could have hit #1 without them.

I was curious also, but not sure we could really tell whether she would have. You can’t  just subtract the bundles and say that that number is what she would have sold, because obviously many of those bundle customers would have gone into a store to purchase if there was no bundle.

Bundles are more fair than streaming.  And countless artists have used them so if anyone singles out Madonna they are lame.

The fact is Madonna is one of few who can still move physical product.  Now everyone stream away and let’s keep her in the top 50!

Anyone else get chills when Madonna says, “Get the kids ready. Take them to school”? It’s such a powerful lyric.

Yes. In fact, when I hear the first section with her clenched vocals I get emotional.  It’s the sound of an artist making a statement and giving us a piece of her soul.

  3. This thread is turning into warfare when it should be an era of celebration.  People calling others bullies and singling people out in threads.

The mods do a great job protecting this forum from trolls. They generally sense them before they get too many posts accumulated and flush them immediately.

I believe Bat-Fan is a true Madonna fan who enjoys her work and is not a troll.  You can tell that at heart he loves most of her material.

The others being called bullies are three of my favorite posters as well.  Loyal Madonna fans who speak thoughtfully and intelligently about her music.

This is a time to celebrate the new music by the most amazing artist of our time, not to turn against one another.  Let’s not stoop to the level of a couple of other Madonna forums I can think of.

God Control video is going to be one of her all time best.

Let your light shine, to quote the Queen.

  4. I keep discovering new parts in the songs on Madame X.  During the “we gonna rise up, we gotta get up” breakdown at the end of I Rise, you can hear Madonna doing a second vocal underneath in which she sings “I will rise.”  I just picked up on this haha!

I agree . It's clear Madame X wasn't meant to chase chart success, despite the features, so I think Madonna is free to experiment. I'd pray for at least one more album from her and I hope she does continue to create fabulous works of musical art

I think more than one.  Stevie Nicks, Marianne Faithful, and Blondie are examples of artists who got some of their best reviews when they were mid sixties to seventy.  Madonna has so much left to give and never stops being creative.

Don't feel less of it Bill. Music for any individual is how they themselves as the listener feel about it.  We can only thank Madonna for making music that reaches us and gives us joy.

Looking for  Mercy has completely captivated and emotionally reached me and is my favourite song of any song from the past 4 years. It was not even on the standard edition. Does not effect my absolute love for it.

Don't let anything change your authentic wonderful love for music or songs you love.

I don't think Madonna's music means nearly as much to Madonna as it does to us.  Super sad to read that she was reluctant to record her last 3 albums.  I felt like she was extremely inspired when she recorded music for Rebel Heart, at least until the leaks.  Maybe they ruined it.  But before that, she recorded like 37 brand new songs with some of the most thoughtful lyrics and beautiful melodies she's ever created.  Rebel Heart is my all-time favorite album (pretty much tied with Erotica), but I almost think less of it after reading this.

My favorite Stevie Nicks album is Rock A Little which she basically recorded in a haze of cocaine and rarely gets any love from critics or the artist herself.  Rebel Heart is a wonderful album with some career highlights.

Im mad because Immaculate Collection was held off at no 2 by one hit wonder Vanilla Ice album. He is in oblivion now but at least he was on the photos in Madonna Sex book. 🙂

That’s right LOL.  He probably has absolutely nothing left in the tank while Madonna just released one of her all time greatest albums.  So much love.

Anything can be a “mistake” if you are looking to label things right/wrong, etc. Must be so exhausting for folks looking at life that way.

Excited for the different covers and seems that the Deluxe editions of MDNA, RH and MX are Madonna’s vision for the albums.

Agree that the deluxe editions seem to be her authentic vision for the albums, especially in the case of Rebel Heart and Madame X.

  10. I bought both in cd format for the covers, but I find the standard utterly pointless as an album and will never listen to it.  I hate thinking of people buying it at Walmart, Barnes & Nobel, or an independent music store and not having a clue that they are missing two absolute gems, unless of course they stream.

The standard should have included EO and LFM, then the blonde cover Target exclusive could have featured Funana and Ciao Bella as extras.

EO and LFM are career highlights and deserve to be heard by everyone.

I would not be surprised if after Madame X, we don't really get a studio album (in the traditional sense) from Madonna ever again. I really wouldn't. The comments about RH and MDNA were confirmation of things a lot of us already knew.

Omg.  I was thinking just the opposite!  I feel the good reviews and fan response mean a lot to her, but more importantly that she feels creatively energized.  I was actually thinking maybe we wouldn’t wait as long for M15.

Of course, I could be projecting and you could very well be right, but I hope not!

There is no experience like the release of a new Madonna album, and I hope to live through several more.

I was already over MDNA at this point, although I grew to like some of the songs later.  Rebel Heart, the final product, I liked at first but really don't ever listen to.

This one I think I will enjoy for life.  Hard Candy I listened to quite a bit the first few months after its release, but only like a handful of the songs now.

Honestly, the is the first album since HC that I actually purchased. Although I streamed the others enough to probably count as a sale.

I like Madame X enough now I understand why people buy collectors/multiple editions now.  I would if I could afford!

I listen to music primarily on Spotify, but I still buy Madonna’s CDs and have them all displayed face out on a book shelf along with some other album covers that I like.  I enjoy still having a physical collection even though it’s much smaller than in the past, especially for she and Tori Amos.  And I like having all of the covers, although to be honest I’ll never once play the standard edition of this album because it’s not the authentic version to me.
