  1. Well, obviously the tickets are not cheap. This is Madonna. And for some of us, there is more involved than just the ticket prices. I live in Maine, and you can bet Madonna will never play here, at least not until she's 60 or older. So I have to go to Boston or New York or wherever. But that's part of the fun, for me personally. It's going to be an event. Yes, I might have to make some adjustments to afford the concert, plane tickets, etc., but it's worth it for me as a fan.

I don't understand all the complaining re: concert prices and music in general. Singers need to make a living somehow. All of you people who don't buy music, download albums illegally, etc., this is partially to blame for high concert prices. It's also to blame, in part, for artists falling down the charts so quickly. People don't pay for music. I get laughed at for buying CDs. People don't seem to think they should have to pay for the work put out by recording artists.

I just think it's funny how, in America at least, people will put themselves in debt to buy a certain car, or spend one hundred dollars for a certain pair of jeans, yet you're going to bitch about the cost of a MADONNA CONCERT?! People drive their new vehicles and wear their trendy clothes like they are a badge, with no bitching about the cost. In fact, a lot of people are PROUD to announce how much they paid for a certain article of clothing. Then you're going to bitch about tickets to see the most important female artist in the history of the world? Just, no.

  2. Well if it doesnt bother you fine, I did that once and found it to be a waste of my time being there.

Oh I completely understand. I think a lot of it has to do with being short and not that aggressive. Most of the artists I attend regularly (Jewel, Tori Amos, etc.) perform in smaller venues, particularly here in Maine, and people remain seated for the majority of the show. So when I attend a big event at MSG or someplace like that, where people are standing in the aisles and dancing and blocking your view, I just naturally have to rely on the screens. I'm not a dwarf, but pretty short.

But I totally get your point.

  3. They better add another date. I went into the Saturday sale the minute it was offered, all bad seats offered. Which proves all the scalpers have them.

In no way am I going to pay a shitload of money to sit in 300 or 400. You cant see anything there and its depressing!

Why go to a concert to watch screens?

I've dont it before and it sucks.

I honestly don't mind watching the screens. Because I had good seats for CT, but there were so many dumb fucks around me, getting in my way, that I relied on the screens anyway lol.

  4. Just got two tickets, and my friend says we are "further from the stage than last time but closer to the floor," which she thinks sounds better, but I think sounds worse. I don't care, though; I'm just grateful to be going, plus I usually watch the screens anyway. We are paying $187.50 for the Saturday the 11th show.

  5. Twenty-five years into her career, and the woman has another #1 album! No doubt will be certified platinum, giving her another million to her RIAA total. And to think, this album outsold the first-week totals of Erotica and Bedtime Stories in an era when CD sales suck. And the third-highest debut of the year at 49 years old! Not to mention adding another (yawn) Top 5 single to her collection. Wow: will she ever stop?

  6. Really!? I would have thought you were no older than 25 or 26. Seriously.

And people need to take a breath. Sure these sales arent AMAZING, but record sales SUCK SUCK SUCK these days all across the board! Most artists have to have a huge string of huge radio hits to get their album to squeek passed the 1 million mark now. The market is in the crapper.

    Oh, thank you :)

And seriously, Madonna's album sales are great. Very few open with those numbers anymore. The press likes to play down her achievement by comparing her opening to Mariah's (stupid), but look how they celebrate that fuddy duddy Neil Diamond by heaping praise upon his 100,000 opening.

  7. Maybe she DOESN'T want new fans. At least not young ones. Only older people can afford those ticket prices, plus... with ZERO promo from her, what is there to interest the youth demographic. The only reason I even got into her was because my 34yr old bf. :nocomment:

Oh good, so you like older men. I'm 31.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of concept Madonna has of her fans. She is the most famous woman in the world, but surely she realizes she has a group of core fans who have stuck by her through thick and thin. I honestly believe she knows this and cares about us, but she just figures we are going about our lives and don't get wrapped up in the charts like Mariah's lambs. If only she would read this thread :lmao:

Then again, I remember the "Q" interview back in 1998 when the interviewer asked "Who are the Madonna fans these days," and her response was "I haven't a clue." LOL: I always wondered about that one.

  8. I know how bad radio is in the U.S. Here in Sydney, we get AMERICAN TOP 40 every week on one of the radio stations. Most of the American Top 40 is either woeful R&B/rap rubbish, or atrociously bad guitar rock!

Unless a track is produced by either Timbaland or T Pain, I'd guess your chances of getting airplay on a U.S Top 40 stations are next to zero.

It's a good question! Why do U.S radio programmers have this prejudice against Madonna?

It's not against Madonna, specifically. America does not have a whole lot of respect for women over 40, especially if the women are sexy. Trust me: radio in the U.S. will turn on Mariah in a few years. We are in many ways a sexist country, especially when it comes to recognizing the achievements of strong, successful, sexy women over 40. There is still a large wage gap in this country between the genders when it comes to professional jobs. Same in the film, TV, and music industries. "Desperate Housewives" changed things a little, but not much. Most people resent that Madonna has stayed around and stayed successful for this long.

And I know someone is going to bring up Cher's "Believe," but that was one song.

  9. I just bought this and love it! I do wish it included the "You're only here to win, get what they say?" bit, but that's a small complaint. This is spectacular.

Sure, sales are needed later to coincide with "airplay," but the fact is, people are buying it now. And since the U.S. is most likely not going to play anything off the album (except maybe "Miles Away" or "Beat Goes On"), she may as well reap the rewards of the sales and get a Hot 100 (or possibly Top 40) hit out of the deal, even if it does drop like a stone the next week.

  10. LMFAO at people saying Madonna has "let down so many fans." :lmao:

How exactly has she let US down?? By putting out a wonderful collection of songs and debuting at the top of the album chart?!

If the number of copies Madonna sells is letting you down, then seriously, take a breather. Are her album sales putting food on your table? This makes you sound insane.

  11. "LoveStoned" and "Until The End of Time" did not make it to number one on mainstream top 40 (or cracked the top ten on the Hot 100.) In amongst these two singles, Justin was featured on singles by Reba McIntre and Duran Duran—neither of them performed well either. While one can argue that a McIntyre/Duran song wouldn't be expected to do well in mainstream airplay, the post I responded to implied that 4M's airplay success was due to Justin presense on the song, and the point I'm making is that if this was the case, then everything he's attached to should do at least as well as "4 Minutes" has…which hasn't been the case. 4M has even outperformed/outpeaked 50's "Ayo Technology," which featured both Justin and Timbaland. Let's give Madonna some credit here.

I mean, Justin and Beyonce should have received major airplay and been a huge smash. Granted, it was the last single from the album.

But of course Madonna has contributed to this song's success. It's her song at the end of the day. And these things are hard to judge in general. Was "Promiscuous" successful because of Nelly Furtado, or Timabland?

The thing I find funny is when reviews say that Justin has the catchier part of the song. I mean, he and Madonna basically swap lines throughout. Sure, he says the words that are in the song's title, but personally I find her "Time is waiting" and "I'm hesitating" to be catchier than his "We only got 4 minutes to save the world."

But the topic is airplay, and the fact of the matter is Madonna's new song is kicking ass and taking names, which would not really impress me except for the fact that it will contribute towards album sales.

  12. i don't either. let's face it. madonna doesn't sing very well. she'd be humiliated on that show. she's a great performer, true... but her voice is weak compared to the contestants on that show.

This is lame. Madonna sings very well, thank you very much. Just because she doesn't sing like Mariah and the typical AI contestant (the style of which does not appeal to me in the least) doesn't make her a bad singer.

  13. I don't know anyone really, that likes her to much. I hear more and more comments that her songs sound the same.

Unfortunately, I do. Two of them. One is the most annoying gay I have ever laid eyes on, and whenever "We Belong Together" would come on at the club, he would just freak out and scream and cry. She really does have devoted fans. What they see in her I cannot understand, but I am of the opinion that if music moves you and means something to you, I am not one to judge.

However, I can't stand her myself and find it hard to get through an album's worth of material.

  14. Who care it's getting her name out there again. Half of the songs on the HOt 100 are collarborations anyway, plus her name is mentioned in the song like 5 times.

This is exactly how I feel. Madonna plays a part in this. Not all duets chart high. Just look at that Justin/Beyonce song, and how about when Janet used Nelly for her last album? And who cares anyway: several of Mariah's chart-toppers have not been solo efforts. Same goes for Nelly Furtado and "Promiscuous." Or what about JT's own "Sexy Back," which features quite a prominent guest vocal.

  15. And "Maxim" is on the Top 5 magazine anyone with half a brain doesn't give a fuck about.

Sometimes these sexist rags that stopped finding Madonna sexy back in the late 80s-early 90s still get it right. She was on "Blender's" list of Top 50 sexiest women in music three or four years back, in the Top 10 and they said something about her great "hooters."

Madonna will still be sexy at 75. She just has the sex appeal. Some do, some don't. Mariah can't really act sexy. Britney can for the most part. You know what I mean? Madonna is sexy, naturally.
