  1. Madonna is the only artist I know who can sell tens of thousands of high priced tickets and it still be considered bad / a failure.

Lets be a bit more positive. If she sold out an arena two or three times with 30,000 tickets in total it would be a success! The way I look at it is a stadium with 30,000 people in it even with 10,000 tickets remaining unsold means she does one show, compared to two or three in arenas. I did not hear Kylie fans complaining when her latest tour played to half empty arenas over Europe. They did not seem to care, and just enjoyed the experience. Lets be a bit more like that.

  2. Its funny how we assume Madonna is all about the money, so why if thats the case would she not do a market where she can generate massive revenue similar to South America during S&S? With the right dates in the right areas I bet she could generate close to or more than $1 billion in ticket sales overall if she added in Asia, New Zealand and Australia for a decent leg similar to that of the current 2012 stretch. That is a record that would stand for all of time I would imagine?

  3. so they

so they used only half of the stadium?

Same set up for S&S and there were 55k people at S&S. I guess this is the set up for San Siro?

I will be at Edinburgh and the only problem may be daylight. It does not get dark here until after 10.30 mid summer and if it is a nice day it can be nearer 11pm. It looks to me like the show needs darkness to appreciate its full majesty.

  4. BUT this isn't necessarily true. Usually people who get stuff for free do not generate any additional revenues. Whereas people who already paid 350 dollars for a ticket don't care if they spend another 30 on a tourbook or a t-shirt. The perspective of both of those customers are totally different. The person who did not spend any money in the first place thinks 30 bucks is quite expensive. The person who paid top dollar does not have this impression since 30 dollars is just a small fraction of the ticket price. For them this 30 dollars is a bargain. It's all about psychology.

Some of those people will have generated some revenue, and some would be impressed enough to pay to see her in the future.

  5. I was always surprised at the S&S Cardiff boxscore as the stadium looked much fuller than reported. If you consider how many people attended CT in Cardiff, it did not look much different.

Giving away tickets to gigs that have lots of empty seats is good business sense. If it shifted a couple of extra thousand tour books, t-shirts etc, that can add up to a lot of extra revenue for artist.

  6. It should not matter if she sells out or not. As long as the show has been successful. Madonna is the only artist I know who can sell 40,000+ tickets to a single concert and this still be viewed as a negative because there were empty parts of the stadium. Here in Scotland she has sold 42,000+ tickets for a single show (at last report), probably more now. I don't know of any other woman in music who could do that at this point in Scotland, but for some reason if there is an empty block or two in Murrayfield I know some parts of the media will focus on that and it will be reported as less than successful.

Out of interest does anyone know how many tickets for Murrayfield have been sold?

  7. I've seen Madonna 8 times the past 11 years and I don't remember a time when she wasn't late hitting the stage. It seems like many people anticipate this as many seats aren't even occupied at showtime. That's why it always baffles me when people complain about her being 45 min to an hour late (90 min is extreme for her even....that happened to me at one show too). I would pretty much always bank on her being at least 30-45 after show time on the ticket.

She has been on around 9.30 everytime I have seen her, but 10.30+ seems very late. Will see over the next few shows.

  8. My instincts say it will be good, but then I think "This woman also just chose GMAYL as her lead single." So I am cautious. I do have to say though, I have enjoyed ALL the tours I have seen - some more than others. Drowned World and Confessions are my favorites of the ones I have seen live, and I think this tour is going to be more like DWT - dark, anguished storytelling - which I love.

I wish I had been old enough and had the money to see Blond Amibition and the Girlie Show back in the day. Damn my birth year!

I can completely understand why GMAYL was released. She has said herself she is not good at choosing singles (did she not want Candy Shop as a lead?). MDNA is a brilliant album and as a performer no one can touch her. If what we have seen and heard so far is anything to go by, this will truly be an amazing show.

  9. I am hopeful that it lives up to their hype, but as always, I reserve judgement until opening night. :)

You know I get the feeling that M is putting everything into this tour. I loved S&S but looking back it was thrown together compared to previous tours. I just get the vibe that she is going out to blow us all away and that anyone who does not see this tour will regret it.

  10. Did we officially add Abu Dhabi to my list? Well then bitches you can add it cause I got the Golden Circle tickets as well. So here is my updated MDNA World Tour 2012 shows list:

03 June, Abu Dhabi (Golden Circle)

    17 July, London (Golden Circle)

    21 July, Edinburgh (Golden Circle)

    21 August, Nice (Golden Circle)

Damn it, I need an indoor show.

Now, I gotta fix my daughter her cereal.

Going to Edinburgh as well. Lets pray it does not rain as here in Scotland it always fucking rains.

  11. UKMIX

    San Siro tickets

    11 may - now

    483 tickets left ( included 115 limited view )

and on the selling trend Madonna is ranking at nr 5

Rome tickets - Prato A & B are not available

So basically two shows in Italy are pretty much sold out. Italians do it better!

  12. Probably because they dont expect to sell out in hours.. And with this schedule, they dont have time to add an aditional date.

I think LN expect better sales in Sao Paulo, not Medellin and Porto Alegre.

Well forget about multiple shows in the expected markets and add second ones in the markets that are performing well. Its the usual thing, where she has not been there is insatiable demand. Look at Brazil and Argentina during S&S.
