  1. That figure was not the total of the first week, but only at Billboard closing time,

when i mentioned the hard candy first day sales figure in usa, what i was trying to show was that rebel heart, still about 2 months away from it's release, is a mere 40k away from that 100k first day sale figure. yes i do know that the 100k is from the first day, and i did write that in the line you quoted from me.

  2. i find this a bit too optimistic, record sales in general are lower than in 2012

theres no ticket bundle in USA which helped a lot (some other countries had this as well)

200k first week USA maybe a little below

I guess it all depends how many times she performs on TV and if any of the songs will become a hit

Positive buzz and great reviews help too, but then again, MDNA had those too at the early stage

my estimation from mdna's usa first week sale is that it would have sold around 200k to 220k without the bundle (cause some people would have bought the album if it didnt come in the ticket bundle), this figure i reviewed and extrapolated from the other hc and mdna worldwide figures and usa figures in total and in first week sales. since the usa preorder of rebel heart has apparently already equaled or surpassed that of mdna with 2 more months to go, and with way more significant promotions expected, as well as very likely being a better reviewed album than her previous 2 efforts or even being critically acclaimed (mdna's early stage acclaim was from producer's and acquaintances' hype and we didnt really hear anything, but now we heard something), i deduced from these 3 positive factor that it would put the sales at 250k or even above. i agree it greatly depends on the promotions, but from what we heard, music, promotional directions and pre-order sales, i think it's safe to say that the sales is currently pointed towards a very positive direction.

  3. Can someone make worldwide predictions based on the US pre-orders and the usual US/rest of the world ratio please? Can we expect 100k worldwide? 200k? More?

Some fans here know a lot about her sales, it would be good to have some predictions, I have no clue about what can be expected.

worldwide prediction of rebel heart pre-order:

considering that madonna's usa to world ratio has been around 20% (hc, coadf, al) to 30% (mdna), i think we can safely assume that the global pre-order ranges around 150k.

prediction of rebel heart's first week and final sales both in usa and globally:

with some traditional promotions expected, i'm predicting a 250k opening in usa thus far, but it all depends on how much promo she does. it could go upward to 300k if she does a lot of talk shows. as for the global first week sales, it should range between 700k to 900k, hard to say, depending on how much she intends to promote overseas.

as for final sales, i'm expecting it to barely reach 500k in usa, with the climate of album sales in usa as well as the fact that she is unlikely to promote for a long period. with better critical reception and hopefully some promo, i expect the album to sell more in europe than mdna (esp in uk), i'm expecting rebel heart to sell between 1.8mil to 2.3mil globally.

  4. What do they mean by 48-hour turnaround?

i think it meant that they released the 6 tracks on itunes 2 days after the first 12 tracks leaked in addition to the 2 already leaked.

The result of Rebel Heart's 48-hour turnaround? The album preorder topped the iTunes charts in more than 40 countries -- including the United States, where three of the six released tracks entered Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songschart dated Jan. 3, despite just two days of eligibility. To date, the six tracks have sold a combined 131,000 downloads, according to Nielsen Music, with preorders for Rebel Heart at a robust (considering the situation) 50,000 to 60,000, according to industry estimates. "We know that in today's world, having a top 10 album with no promotion is really hard," Oseary says. "It's pretty... exciting isn't the right word, but it's rewarding to see it so well-received."

how is having a top 10 album without promotion difficult nowadays lol?

anyway does anyone remember what mdna preorder numbers were?

  5. i came on this forum a few hours ago and saw the "ghosttown appreciation thread" and i was like what ghosttown? then i saw this thread title and i thought it was a joke (again). so i started reading page 1 and i just fucking scrambled to itunes to ascertain, and then after silently screaming in my heart for a minute or 2, went to google the shit out of all the songs because i don't have a card to buy online. best christmas present ever. but seriously we need to stop giving false alarms so when i see something big next time, i will know at once that it's real.:laugh::laugh:
