The Daily Mail really are BEYOND PATHETIC - the same paper runs scare stories about how our hospitals are full of germs because staff don't wash their hands etc.

I just highly doubt Madonna releasing an album (greatest hits or not) wouldn't want it to sell well. lets be honest here. I dont actually think it is flopping AT ALL its just that the lazy slag could at least do a bit of promotion

Celebration, a Greates Hits album already has surpassed the 800,000 copies worldwide. It's true that it doesnt even reach the 100,000 in the US and can become her lowest sales album ever, but this doesn't only goes for her, as every artist is having their lowest sales ever there.But, Celebration, a Greatest Hits album,surpasses the 700,000 out the US. So that you have an idea, Mariah has only sold 100,000 outside the US with an album of new music, Whitney Houston is around 1 million thus far worldwide, and over 3/4 sold in the US alone so that would give her around 200,000 sold outside the US.Barbra Sreisand is around 4,500k worldwide, and over 300k in the US alone for only 150k worldwide. All of these Divas are out with New Albums. So this gives a hint of how terrible well Madonna is doing with a Greatest Hits album despite its sales in the US. The US is not a definitive market anymore. Just take a look at artists like Lilly Allen, The Prodigy, Depeche Mode; they all have sales of +900k to 1.500 k this year and have sales in the US below the 200k mark. So if you, with your irrational, irritating and nonsense reasoning consider Celebration,the album, a Flop, then you need an enema of awareness.
So, the numbers for Celebration and its comparison with other mainstream artists shows it's no Flop at all, but it's not a mega mega success either, and it was not supposed to be anyway, if so it would be very sad that a Greates Hits gets to be the biggest success of the year...lol...

And if Madonna didn't expect/want it to sell, why release it. It costs money to commission artwork and produce compilation CDs so they could have just not bothered had they she thought the 'industry has changed and they don't sell anymore'

Don't you ever get bored of repeating yourself? When did Madonna ever remotely IMPLY that she wanted her sales to be rocketing?! You make it seem Madonna is living in some kinda bubble where people tell her she's the best selling artist ever and she does not have to lift her finger anymore, but it's not true, she said it herself that the record business is not the same anymore, she is WELL AWARE of how things are going.
She earned more than enough this year even before the GH came out and no matter the amount of promo, she can't make a profit out of this GH even remotely near to that of the tour. It should ONLY be an issue for us fans if Madonna was literally begging people to buy her music but nobody was (not even 150k in a month) and she was about to be dropped. Which is FAR from the case, she has one of the highest paid contracts in the business!
All that only matters for fans who are only fans because of her "name" and those who make fun of Kylie flopping.
It is absolutely delusional to think Celebration selling what is selling is hurting her career in any possible way.

She really is starting to tarnish her name. Even her hardcore fans are losing interest in her. To think a few years ago after AL she thought her career was over, pushed the panic button and went for damage control.
If she doesn't do the X Factor and try and gather some interest in the album it will be in the bargin bins in January. FLOP ALBUM.
Oh I think the bargain bins come January is a CERTAINTY.

Even in 1990 when she was at the top of her game she did promo for TIC. That said, I haven't bought this shit due to the shoddiness of it all and I've advised friends who are casual fans to avoid it so perhaps the word of mouth is spreading on how it's really not worth it.

She's about 20k ahead in singles but she has a day's lead over Westlife, not that I think that will change things - she's no doubt looking at the double come Sunday.

Celebration the single is not even at 100k yet, 96.645k.
Celebration the album is at 187.620k poor sales of just over 12k last week is slowing it down hitting that 200k but next week i'd say no prob.
