I also wonder about the chart thing, I know they chart deluxe editions separately now in the UK, so...
I remember Kylie's Ultimate Flop had the CD and DVD sales included in its overall tally but Warners fucked up with IGTTYAS, breaking her unblemished run of top 10 albums.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Revolver is only included on the double CD.
-
Also, the fact that they're releasing a single and double CD set pays heed to the suggestion that she only has a few memorable songs. I wonder whether they will chart separately, thus denying her a number 1 album.

Madonna is MADONNA, not Marilyn Monroe.
EXACTLY

Why the fuck does her official website focus on her US chart stats when her career there is OVER.
And that cover is DISAPPOINTING.

Speaking of the CRUSHINGLY PEDESTRIAN....
Chin upMy surgeon takes care of that.

I disagree. Going purely on album titles, Confessions On a Dance Floor and Hard Candy are roughly a gazillion times better titles - more evocative, better suited to their albums - than the crushingly pedestrian non-statement that was Music.
WRONG on ALL counts.
-
From her interview with the BBC (Nov. 2001):
You've got of a lot of things going on at the moment, one of them is your best of GHV2, why that title?
M: Because it's to the point. We went through catchy titles, funny titles and witty titles and things like that, but at the end of the day I thought it was really modern and succinct and to the point.
Uhm, it sounds like she picked it alright.
The worst fucking title EVER - in fact she's been shit with titles for most of this decade - Music was the last one to have a factor to it.
-
HMV removed TIC CD and the DVD is out of stock. It seems it's deleted in the UK at least.
I've said all along they should do this and also with GHV2 - I've not seen them in the sales as much as usual this year.

Not wrong at all. I mean it isn't loved in the UK in the way other songs by her are loved. The guys from the US here seem to have such a fondness for OYH that just doesn't seem so apparent on this side of the pond. As for pushing ahead of Brothers in Arms, that album was released in May '85 so after 18 months of release, I would expect TB to push ahead.
Brothers In Arms was PHENOMENALLY SUCCESSFUL album in 85 and 86; True Blue only managed to edge ahead of it, and a Phil Collins album, during December.

I love the backwards concept. Very original, very Madonna. I'm glad they're putting some thought into this GH.
Britney did it for her GH.

Perhaps it's Lady GaGa - the new Queen - taking over where the old one left off

Seriously though I like the idea of Lola donning the Lucky Star look but doing the Virgin Bride would be RIDICULOUS given that the whole point of it was to symbolise the virgin/whore juxtaposition.
-
Jim was FURIOUS at his rejection, even more so when he heard Lola had been given the part

In the UK, Open Your Heart has not overshadowed TB. From reading posts here, clearly OYH was a huge hit in the US but in the UK I don't think it is nearly as loved. The video is remembered for it's basque but TB and LIB are equally remembered and from a song perspective, probably more popular. They were both No.1s here too whereas OYH only made it to No.4.
It made it to number 4 in December, when there were loads of novelty records in the chart and it pushed True Blue ahead of Brothers In Arms to be the biggest selling album on 1986, so to say it wasn't loved is wrong.
-
OMG! They simply CAN'T delete The Immaculate Collection... its more than a record... more than a Greatest Hits... its part of POPULAR CULTURE.
But they could reissue it as a collectors edition in a few years time.
-
At the time of TB release it was another HUGE single by Madonna .. no one expected OYH to come an overshadow it.
OYH was intended as the third single, she made the video for it in August 1986 but radio stations all over the world were playing TB as an album track so they went with that as single number 3 instead, hence the video being a rush job. There was a rumour at the time that she'd planned to film one in Switzerland, with the Swiss navy but decided against it after some nuclear disaster in Russia was polluting the air.

QB- was the European single mix the Color Mix? That's a good one (and the one she performed on WTG tour). The oiginal is cute, but I'd probably choose the Color Mix over it (it's not THAT far off, it just adds some nice touches).
Yes, edited for the 7" with the 'Nobody's paying any attention to me' line in the outro.

Poor old QueenBitch and her incorrect predictions
CUNT OFF - Britney could DIE before the year's out.
-
Just wanted to bring this topic back up.
So we can now say that Britney did not go to number one with any of her new singles in UK. She is still behind Madonna and now it looks like it is actually Madge that can score another nr 1 this decade if all goes well with Celebrate. Funny, quite a turnaround.
I predict it will peak at number 4.
-
The European single remix of True Blue should be included - it's far superior to the plodding, ablum version that they went with in the US.
-
Glad that Jonas is directing - I watched IGTTYAS dvd at the weekend and I was impressed by the footage of her dancing at a private party and thought he'd do a good job on the rumoured treatment for this track.

They may be doing it as a marketing ploy, hoping that they'll debut at numbers 1 and 2 so they can run with headlines about her making chart history.
