  1. Never mind that "Get together" was by several thousand miles the best video from Confessions On a Dance Floor, it's also better than most of the stuff that was left off as well (the three exceptions are all on the other collections anyway).

Hung Up is one of her most ICONIC videos ever - GT is just okay - the alternative version was better than the one they released.

Still, there's no reason to moan. It all boils down to three words:

    "I want you."

    Glory to God!

    AMEN

  2. The thing that pisses me off more about the DVD is the fact that they've included UTTER DROSS such as Get Together instead of some of her brilliant work.

How easy is it to rip/burn DVDs? I'll be making my own compilation using stuff that's available eleswhere.

That aside, I think the DVD is an excellent marketing tool and bodes well for the release of remastered albums, which will make casual fans want to get hold of the tracks missing from the Celebration CD.

  3. except you look at the playlist and it has U2's latest single on there. I'd love to know what under-18s listen to U2.

That makes me think it *is* an ageist thing - how many other acts 50+ does Radio 1 playlist, it rarely happens. They did it with Believe because it was an innovative sound but they just don't give airtime to retro, heritage acts unless it's a bank holiday.

  4. Surprised she missed out NRM cos she seems to like that vid but perhaps not the song given that she's never performed it live.

Astounded she's included American Pie :chuckle:

Apart from the TAB footage, You'll See is mediocre as it I'll Remember - she also looks similar to the Rain video so I'm surprised they went with these over Playground which is beautiful - perhaps they couldn't get clearance on the film clips, and Oh Father which is superb.

That said, I'll forgive all of the above for the inclusion of I Want You :inlove: never in a million years did I think that would be included.

This is far more DEFINITIVE that I would have dreamed and I'll definitely be buying the DVD.

Nevertheless, Miles Away is :manson: on the CD and :megamanson: on the DVD.

  5. OH DEAR - Aled from the Chris Moyles show is on Radio 1's playlist committee and here's what he had to say on the matter.

Viv, I think you're too close to Madonna to be able to rationally decide whether Celebration is a good Madonna song or not!

I LOVE Madonna. I'm one of her biggest fans and now that Michael Jackson has passed away there is no-one that comes close to her for me.

I agree though with the playlist's decision. She's a heritage artist who we should all respect but that doesn't mean she should get automatic rights to Radio 1 and it's playlist. If the young audience Radio 1 is supposed to serve don't care for a Madonna project then we shouldn't be putting it on. This is a greatest Hits album afterall, not a new album.

When I DJ'd in Southampton at the Under 18's club I played Madonna's Hung Up. That was the only song that actually made the entire floor stop dancing. I had to cut it short and go on.

  6. In UK 75000 people went to see her at Wembley and 4M was one of her biggest hit.

They planned two nights at Wembley but had trouble shifting tickets for the first. They had to cancel a Manchester show due to lack of interest. :lmao:

A caller to Radio 1 recently referred to 4M as Timbaland ft Justin Timberlake :lmao:

  7. Gordon Smart is a Kylie loon.

As for Celebration - Radio 1 are hardly going to playlist what sounds like a Venga Boys outtake now are they - the sound of tomorrow :lmao:

She really has become quite MEDIOCRE - it's hardly wonder she's been relegated to pop's periphery in her two biggest markets. Her career in the US is OVER and OUT and the UK ain't that far behind.

  9. Which 'biggest hits' has she left off, then? Presumably bigger than the 'dross' that was the worldwide number one 'Sorry' which is apparently a flop because American djs didn't play it?

Worldwide hits such as True Blue, This Used To Be My Playground in favour of DROSS like Hollywood and Miles Away.
